  1. Andrew The cat did eventually cure the problem. That was the last stage of many including inlet manifold removed to fit new plugs and new ignition coils and six new manifold gaskets. Also previous to the inlet off I had fitted both new Lambdas (one at a time and testing after each individual Lambda was fitted. The car had a slight misfire before my P0420 codes started. That in itself can kill the Cat, which it eventually proved had happened. Word of advice if you decide to go a similar route: always use genuine manifold gaskets (Jaguar, in my engine there were six separate gaskets), always use Denso Lambda`s (Denso being OE equipment) and always purchase a good quality/dearer Catalytic Converter. Cheap East Asian products do not work well on Jaguar engines. If any other advice needed or questions to ask, please feel free to contact me. Good Luck with sorting your problem. Best Wishes and Regards, John

  3. Gerry No problem, hope you get the car sorted one way or another. Also that you get to see the grandsons. Best Wishes, John
  4. John You have me a little confused. On one hand you say you cannot find the EGR vale and then you say "with the way the carbon is built up etc etc". If you cannot locate the EGR valve how do you know there is a carbon build up." Good luck with removing the inlet manifold, it is not an easy and straight forward job in my opinion. Whilst you have the intake manifold off you might consider changing other items that are then accessible and may be leading to "rough idle and misfires." Please update when you have sorted the problem. Good luck and Best Wishes, Regards, John
  5. No idea what it is. However very occasionally my S-Type does exactly the same thing. Regards, John
  6. Chris, Welcome to the Club with many sociable and knowledgeable members. You will very likely find answers from someone who has "been there and done it" on most questions you could pose or advice you ask for. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  7. Gerry There is another treatment done by a company in Dudley, West Midlands. They do all of the underside and interior of as many panels as they can (E.G. Doors etc). The company is called Krown. https://www.krown.co.uk. I once spoke with them by email and they wanted around 1/2 to 3/4 of a day to completely do my S-Type. From memory I believe it would have cost around £400. I did not go with them. My son in law is the Sales Manager at a Main Dealer and they done the job for me. Not always "what you know", more like "who you know." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best Wishes, John
  8. Gerry Have just had my S-Type done. A new sill to the O/S , all of the underside prepped and cleaned and then treated with HM Kurust and Treated with Black Tetroseal/Wax Rustproof. Best Wishes and Regards, John

  12. Quite agree with this submission. A mere 72 years young, me. Have had my days with Skylines etc, etc and massive BHP and stiffened, lowered suspensions. Now prefer the quiet, luxury and as much comfort as I can afford. Best Wishes and Regards, John
