  1. Stephen Good luck with your XK8. If everything is OK once you have initially started the engine, that`s when you can start on the list of works that you may find want doing. Hopefully having been garaged and covered up for five years you hopefully will not have bodywork problems to deal with. Should be a nice car for you eventually.   2. Roger Even with a new battery, which is good news that the seller replaced it, you should still consider buying a CTEK to keep the battery in good condition. Jaguars are notorious for battery drain. Best Wishes, John
  3. Alexander Underpowered is a subjective matter in my opinion. As much as overpowered could be. As for my 2.5 V6 I can assure you for my requirements of a Jaguar, it is not underpowered. Also I do not like diesel powered cars. It has to be said though that whilst I am still a very keen and active driver I do not do power at my age of 72 years young, like I used to when younger with the likes of Nissan Skylines etc. One R34 GTR I once owned and upgraded was producing some 450+ BHP.   4. Alexander Interesting that you eliminated the X Type on the basis of no four wheel drive, as there is a four wheel drive model. Also that you decided on eliminating so much on the S-Type range. I do wonder if you have read much of this forum, because if you have you would have found many submissions on virtually all Jaguar models where owners get problems with all models of Jaguar. Being an S-Type owner I am well aware of how they produce many fault codes. A fairly high percentage of codes often eventually relate back to low battery charge being low. The S-Type is renown for being heavy on battery discharge when not used regularly over a good distance. You would be well advised to invest in a decent Jaguar OBD2 fault reader and a QTEK battery charger/conditioner. That applying to most models but particularly in respect of battery charge for the S-Type. By the way I love my 2005 Facelift 2.5V6 Petrol auto with 65,000 miles, very much, despite the challenges it can regularly present. Enjoy your eventual purchase and take good care of it.
