  1. You do not say why you have removed the sensors, but presumably because you think they are faulty. I have submissions on this forum concerning exhaust emissions on bank 1 (left bank) and associated catalytic converter problems, that I experienced and cured on my S-Type. If you suspect the sensor (Upstream or downstream) your first step should be to read any codes that are entered, via your OBD 11 connection. Usual you get Yellow Management Light on clock and when read is usually, depending on which Bank of cylinders is at fault, a Code P0240 or P0230. If the sensors or sensor are/is faulty your best long term fix is to replace them with new. Whatever you do make certain they are a good make, preferably OE specification and at avoid the cheap Chinese products that are offered on the likes of Ebay etc. Good Luck and Best Wishes, Regards, John
  2. "Bite the bullet" and replace plugs and ignition coils. As you will need the inlet manifold off, you will need new manifold gasket/s as well. Had one cylinder on bank 1 misfiring and left it whilst I tried to find other reasons and it killed the Catalytic Converter. I eventually replaced all six plugs, coil packs and manifolds. Problem cured. Then had to replace the cat as that kept showing a code P0420 (Low efficiency left bank). Dear job but well worth it as the car has been wonderfully smooth and powerful ever since. There are numerous posts which I put on this Forum about what I did and went through to cure my S-Type of this problem Good Luck with sorting your car, Regards, John
  3. David, If you go through the sections (XE and XF) dedicated to both of the models I am certain you will gleam plenty of information and be able to calculate/identify the pros and cons of each of the models, to enable you to decide which model and specification. Best Wishes on search, Regards, John

A couple of links attached. Hope you fine what you are after. Best Wishes and Regards, John
  5. I have noticed that just recently there has been a big increase in advertising ECHOCHIP fuel MPG improvement chip on Social Media advertising. In my lifetime (72 years, 54 as a driver) there is history of various claims to increase fuel economy for next to no investment. This latest chip, which is plugged in through the vehicles OBD 11 port, is only a few pounds on Ebay and other like sources, depending on which of many buyers you purchase from. It claims to monitor you (the driver) over some 200 Kms and then starts to alter the ECU the settings of the vehicles ECU to give you vast fuel economy improvements. My first reaction was "Who would allow a cheap unknown plug in chip manufactured in China to start altering the ECU in their vehicle." Why would this be able to better than what is already probably programmed to give as good an economy v performance by the manufacturer or supplier. I attempted to find some evidence of : does it actually work, does it potentially or actually cause any damage to the engine. It would seem from the information I have found that the chip is, to put it mildly, yet another con/scam from the Far East that is being perpetuated by Social Media and the likes of Ebay and Amazon amongst other sources. There are two YouTube videos that would appear to be showing that the product does not actually do anything at all and is wired in such a manner as to just produce different coloured flashing lights on the chip casing. Both are listed below for anyone interested: I feel the age old "You get nothing. for nothing ", applies only too well here. Best Wishes and Regards, John
