  1. Thanks all. I do have a really good local indie mechanic. I will speak to him shortly Rgds
  2. Thanks M5 for the advice. No white sludge on cap or water globules on dipstick. So that is promising? No blocks in hoses. Rad is new with good airflow. Thermo seems to be working. Will need to get someone to look at the water pump. Don't even know where it is lol
  3. There is no doubt our lovely S Types can be a bit of a trial!
  4. Hi Guys Rupert returned yesterday from E & E with a new radiator. Cost £260 plus consumables, labour and VAT giving a total all in of £680. Driving like new. I am so very pleased. Recommend them wholeheartedly Rgds to all
  5. Hi Guys Rupert returned yesterday from E & E with a new radiator. Cost £260 plus consumables, labour and VAT giving a total all in of £680. Driving like new. I am so very pleased. Recommend them wholeheartedly Rgds to all
  6. Hi Guys "Rupert" has returned home safe and sound, and running like the proverbial. He has been to E & E Milton Keynes for a new radiator. £260 for the rad plus consumables, labour and VAT. Total £680. Absolutely top class job. Can recommend wholeheartedly. Cheers
  7. Thanks very much Andy.
  8. Hi Guys The wheel on my 2004 2.5 S Type is scuffed and scruffy. I would like one of those wood/leather ones from a newer model. How do I get the old one off and will the new type fit? I only have the horn push on the current wheel Rgds Ed
  9. "Rupert" went to E and E on Tuesday. Requires new radiator. Will advise cost when I get the full bill. Appears to be more than a simple replacement job but will source replacement for me in the Aftermarket rather than from Jag Spares. Rgds Baudinot
  10. Thanks very much Nick. Off to garage tomorrow. Will post results.
  11. Hi Everybody, Got a coolant problem. Losing coolant over 10 - 20 mile trips. About 200 - 400 mls per time. But it doesn't seem to lose it when engine is off and cooling/cold. Tried Radweld once to no effect. It is going to E & E in MK on Tuesday, but just wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem. The Lounge Bar Massif suggests I have a perished O Ring in the thermostat, and that this is a common problem with S Types. Any thoughts? I will of course report back on solution and E & E Services performance.
  12. Hi Guys Used E & E Services Milton Keynes again. Brilliant. Solved my performance restricted problem for £40 including vat labour and parts (rubber hose). Top people
  13. Thanks Andy. Getting a code reader on it on Tuesday. Advised not to use it till then.
  14. This has come up on my dashboard. What might it mean? Got an engine management light on too. Advice please, Guys
  15. Got a flange nut from Screwfix. Have to buy a bag of 100. Price? £1.99
  16. I have used the Milton Keynes garage at the top of this thread. Great garage. Good prices
  17. You are welcome. Don't know any in London though
  18. Hi Guys, I crave a boon. Bought a tin of spray clear gloss from Halfords to go over Zircon Blue. The result was rubbish. I expected a deep gloss finish. All I got was a dark coat of something with no gloss to it at all. Anyone recommend a top quality clear spray gloss?.Just as a point, does the Halford Gloss come up better after 24 hours? I know that happens with some paints. Kindest regards Baudinot
  19. Hi Guys Delighted to say new mirror installed. All working well. Only problem was a 10mm flange nut dropped inside the door. Will source a replacement when I find out the spec and who's got one. Thanks for everything. Baudinot
  20. What is a door card? Think I've got the right one.
  21. Thanks Russ. Looks like take off the door catch surround, undo two screws in the door pull and pop out the panel clips around right hand side and bottom of panel, then lift off. Mirror bolts and wiring connector is exposed. Wowzer! Thanks very much.
  22. Hi Everybody Hope I'm doing this right. I'm a newbie. A careless road user has smashed my driver side door mirror beyond repair. I have obtained a replacement but don't know how to fit it. Presume I have to remove door panel, door catch and/or corner window trim. A step by step guide to removal of relevant bits would be much appreciated. All I know is I have to get access to four bolts from the inside. Many thanks for your assistance Baudinot
  23. Hi Guys Nice to meet you all. I am a 2004 S Type 2.5 auto owner. I would like to ask who is the best independent service engineer in Bedford? Kindest regards Baudinot
  24. Hi Guys. I am a newbie, and as usual, the first thing we do is bring probs. Sorry about that. My prob with a 2004 2.5 Auto is that the revs rise and fall when held at around 1800 - 2000 rpm. Gets better when the engine warms but disconcerting. Any clues? Kindest regards
