  1. Happy Birthday Robinp!

  2. I have come to the same conclusion as pointed out by Alastair. I have just ordered a new set of Pirellis to be fitted on Wednesday. It would appear that mid range tyres are a false economy.
  3. Hi, I don’t know if anyone has experienced this before, I doubt that I am the first, has anyone experienced uneven tyre wear (from new to almost illegal in 5000 miles) on an X308? About eight months ago I badly needed new tyres all round and at the time finances were not too hot so I had to go for a mid-range tyre Falken ZIEX ZE912 255/60R/16 98W. The new tyres replaced a set of Pirelli P6000s which behaved and wore as expected. So, 5000 miles later I now find that the nearside front tyre has scuffed out (now only just legal) on the outside, and the nearside rear is wearing in a similar fashion but not to the extent of the front. I took the car to the local Jaguar specialist who looked at the wheel alignment and told me that everything was within limits and also took a look at the rear bearings/bushes and told me that they were all fine? We wracked our brains looking for a reason why the tyres are wearing unevenly and we could only come up with the tyres themselves being the problem? Whilst Falken are a mid-range tyre, I have read (not sure if this is true) that they are produced on the Dunlop assembly line and have a certain amount of Dunlop technology built in so I wouldn’t expect them to behave this badly? Has anyone else had a similar experience? If so, I would love to hear your advice as I don’t want to replace all the tyres only to find them wearing out prematurely again. Best Regards Robinp
