  1. HI Chidders, thanks for the reply. It was the alternator that fried half way round the M25 for me....£262 back on the road. Old Peter, nice to hear from you, thanks for the info. Battery seems OK if I drive regularly, charger idea is a good one tho for when i'm not using the Jag (I have another car). Windscreen cover is a great idea for winter. I have just had a new heated front screen installed and can see the heater wires in it. Also, I can get it to work if I manually activate the relevant relays in the fusebox (relay covers removed). It seems that there is no power being sent to the relays when heater is activated, although the little light illuminates on the switch. Is this a common issue? Is there a way to test the climate control unit? Any answers/pointers in the right direction gratefully received! Thanks - Mick
  2. Ayup from Nottingham! I am a new member and owner of an '06 S-Type 2.7D. I have owned it for about 15 months and have been doing maintenance and other things as I drive it - or when IT decides it needs it! TBH it's only let me down once, but that's once too often really....don't fancy it again!! It's just passed its MOT (only 1 advisory left..), but developed a 'Gearbox Fault' on its way for retest. Only temporarily, but I'm now looking to have a full gearbox service carried out VERY soon!! 1 thing that is really annoying is that the front heated screen has never worked since I've had it. It makes icy winter morning drives difficult to impossible. I have checked several things, fuses, relays, some continuity etc, but I'm drawing a blank. Can anyone point me in the right direction or help please? It's good to be a member of the club at last, I look forward to chatting and learning from you guys and gals. Cheers - Mick PS let me know what you think to the old girl...
