  1. Glad to hear you got it taxed Bob, i had a feeling you might have been up against the might and mystery of cyberspace! See how it goes with repeatedly trying the AC temerature up/down, i have another suggestion that's a bit more technical after that if it doesn't work though.
  2. Good luck Bob, let us know how you get on!
  3. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club! Regarding the tax, i suspect the dealer you got it from gave you the green slip intended for him - you may find you have to apply to the Divvy-La-La for a new V5 log book in your name. However, before doing any of that, try on monday afternoon again using what you have - i've known the website often has problems over weekends, especially those at the end/start of a month. As for your AC, silly question but you are aware there are two separate temperature controls, one for each side? If you set the passengers to minimum and then the drivers, if you don't touch the passengers you can control both from the drivers side. Next option is that the DCCV is sticking so try running the temperature for the drivers side up to max and down to minimum while driving or sat with the idle speed raised to ~2000rpm to help circulate the coolant. If the temperature hasn't been changed in a while the DCCV can stick and you will only get hot air out, no matter what. (It's a useful preventive maintenance at least once a month to cycle the temperature like this - you don't want to have to change the DCCV!) Alternatively, phone the DVLA tomorrow and ask them what's going on - they seem to be making it harder and harder to tax any vehicle these days, high time VED was scrapped and a small amoutn added to fuel duty to replace it - fairer and much easier to administer!
  4. Records (Roy Castle, Guinness Records with Norris McWhirter show, theme song done by Roy Castle - showing my age now!)
  5. In addition to confirming what you've already been told, i buy CR2032 batteries in packs of 10 from ebay for about 2 or 3 quid a time. Yes they're not fantastic but usually branded as Maxell or Panasonic or similar and for the cost you can't go wrong when the likes of Halfords, Sainsburys, Timpsons are all £6-7 per battery! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314572810753 I keep the spares in the drawer ready for when the battery gets low but usually use the spare fob for a few days every so often just to see if there's any difference in performance of the fobs and also to ensure the spare fob remains coded.
  6. I would also say take the £600, the car is a 2.1 petrol so is less desirable by those of us that want a big engine in a Jag. Regarding the wing and bumper, a secondhand set of items for £150-200 and you'd be golden or better still green if you found the replacements in the right colour. Put a new MoT on and you might be able to ebay it for £1000-1200, maybe a little more on a good day. Second option of repairing the body damage and a new MoT and selling it yourself is a lot of work for little financial gain (if any) whereas the dealer offering £600 is taking those risks but also stands to gain more when he sells for £15-1800 all bright and shiny like a new pin....... errrrr Jag even. The problem is, once you start digging to fix the body, you might find other bits that suddenly cost in limb proportions, while i understand that with it being your late fathers car there is some sentimental attachment, sometimes you have to be cold and clinical and evaluate the situation to your best advantage. Good luck with whatever course of action you decide to take.
  7. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club!
