Just had my 17 plate F-Pace 2.0D AWD R-sport suffer catastrophic engine failure last week, 55k miles just over 5 years old, with no engine warning light or other symptoms prior and having just completed a 180 mile round trip 2days before. I had it towed straight to a main dealer who since diagnosed it as turbo unit failure, which then has turbine fans shattered damaging engine and destroyed the DPF in the process, which requires a replacement of all 3. Credit to the main dealer they reported the case straight to JLR and have been talking to them on my behalf. After a week without my car JLR “factory” (guessing crc) have taken details of my V5, previously owned X-Type and case history and have so far offered 80% as goodwill. I’ve pushed back requesting more under Consumer Rights Act of 2015, that it is “not of satisfactory quality”, and that is not within expected life of the parts. this law states that then the manufacturer is liable to replace or repair with no cost to myself within a reasonable time frame and must ensure I do not suffer in-necessary inconvenience as a result. I’ll update as I find out more.
But it is clear that there are serious known defects and faults and that you can certainly get more than 40% OP has mentioned.
