Does anyone know if I were to remove the boot lining if I’d be able to get to the back of this panel to push a dent out? Or is it multiple skins before I got there?

I’ve had a look and can see the inside pad is down to the metal I think but outer is ok. Also looks like the wear sensor was shorted out previously.

Hi all, over the last two weeks I have had grinding on the rears when braking and the last bit of slowing, it also starts that way as I pull off having released the brakes. I was going to just change the pads this weekend but when looking into it it says there’s a wear sensor, but I’ve had no warnings so am now doubting myself? Any thoughts?

Any thoughts as to which one I need as Yuasa suggests two that are quite different. YBX5019 SMF (100 Ah / 900 amps) or YBX9019 AGM (95 Ah /850 amps) The one in the car is a Merc one that matches the 9019 numbers but my car isn’t a start/stop car?

Maybe that’s it then as my drive to work was about 15 mins. It is a MY10 XF and Portfolio so has all the electrical extras.

Well here’s a quandary, on the next morning there were no errors and all was well. I checked the battery at work again and it was 12.48. So is it a duff battery still? I appreciate it’s still not high enough but 0.5 higher than the previous day

I have checked it with a voltmeter from off and the charge was 11.98 and I read its meant to be around 12.6V

I am hoping all of these are related as I've got loads of life stuff going on, and this on top is stressing me out as well. In recent weeks: I had the stereo screen getting stuck occasionally at the Jaguar logo The trip meter has reset The clock has reset A red fault on startup stating "Hold foot brake and park brake together" A yellow fault on startup stating "Gearbox fault" The gearbox fault showed this morning but everything works fine. Does this all sound very much battery related? I hope its as simple as that?

Hi. I think I have a few electrical gremlins to be honest. There have been a few times recently that the stereo has got stuck at the Jaguar screen and won’t go any further. It means no music etc. It often fixes itself but only once a full turn off and alarm locking from outside. Anyone had this issue or got thoughts how to remedy it? I have a MY10 XF 3.0D

Heard a sporadic banging this morning that didn’t match with steering or bumps in the road. Having looked under the car I saw this, it’s just under where the gear selector module would be inside the car. Would like to be able to fix myself at some point over the next few days.

It’s now switched to raising 2/10 times and I’m sure it’s weather based, much worse when it’s cold/wet

Hi. My gear selector is somewhat temperamental. I’d say 8/10 times it raises up but the other times when it stays down are a pain, and when you turn it then it sounds a bit horrible and damaging almost. I wondered if anyone has ever figured out a way to get it permanently to stay up? Like maybe there’s a way to disconnect the up and down motor or remove a fuse or something on ODB? like it’s a neat gimmick… but if it staying up is easiest, that’s what I want it to do.

I can confirm the disc I bought labelled 2020 v1 works in my 09 XF. The system asked to upgrade and I hit continue. The navigation menu disappeared for a while but is now working. I just need to go to somewhere where the roads have changed since the 09 disc that was previously in there to check.

I am going to try tomorrow, as I’m going to do it’s engine oil then anyway so whilst I’m working on it I’ll do that.

I was a bout to start a similar topic. I just bought an 09 XF. Front passenger window is stuck up. The passenger door buttons do absolutely nothing. The drivers side button, down does nothing, but when you go to raise it, you can hear it trying to do something, but obviously the window is already up. Any suggestions, try the window reset by removing the negative on the battery for 10 mins? Or does this sound different?

Hi. Thanks to replies last week. I picked up an 09 XF today in silver (it looks so beautiful) thats done 88k and had excellent dealer service until Covid. Turns out it’s also had the Celtic Tuning stage 1 done to it and it’s rapid! I’m after recommendations for a decent garage that people could vouch for in East Sussex. I live in Newhaven BN9 and work in Ringmer BN8. Cheers all.

Southern Car Sales in Ringmer. They’ve seemed pretty good. It currently has an MOT with no advisories until next July. They will do a full service, cambelt and water pump, air con regas and replace the two back door locks that are a bit intermittent in opening and full valet and detail before I take ownership. My one concern is the mileage at 146k which is high. On AutoTrader there’s only a total of 3 XFs above 150k. Is that because they break and that’s why there aren’t loads like BMWs and Land Rovers that easily exceed 200k miles. My aim is to get it down to £4500 with all the work they’re offering to do and then run it to 200k in 4/5 years

Unfortunately both the mot/tax status and mot history sections of gov.uk return no further info beyond it being an XF. The dealer has just sent me a photo of the V5 which states all the info there so I can confirm it is indeed an S Portfolio.

Hi all, I’m very close to buying an XF S Portfolio (2010 - VO10 LFR) but am unsure if it’s a genuine S. Dealer says it is genuine S version but has the green/red squared S badge on the back not the silver S. I appreciate they may have changed it as they also have stuck a domed jaguar badge on the gear selector! Just don’t wish to buy something that looks like an S but is just an eBay special stickered version! Doing a carVertical check it just says the model is an XF and doesn’t mention S Portfolio at all. How best can you check these things?
