  1. Hi Peter, Thanks for the tip, I wrote the date on a sticker this evening. Touch wood, she's running like a dream at the moment, amazing the difference a decent battery makes. Thanks again for the advice. Kind regards, Andy
  2. Hi Peter, I bought a Yuasa battery from Halfords for £143 and can't believe the difference. Engine flys into life when you turn the key, no more brake problems, and the phone has started working properly again. Can't recommend changing the battery enough!!!! Cheers
  3. Hi Mr Martin, Sorry for late reply. I paid £499.99 for the exhaust and paid a young lad £20 to fit it at Kwik Fit. Truly brilliant. Purrs along at low revs with a pleasant growl at motorway speeds. But floor it (especially in Hindhead tunnel!) and it sounds pukka. Since doing this, fallen in love with the old Jag again. Now thinking of putting vents in the bonnet, grills over the lights and leather buckles on the bonnet edge as a homage to the old Coombe racing Mk II (mines british racing green with black spoke wheels). Do you think it's taking things too far?.
  4. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has fitted an Adamesh sports exhaust on their S Type? I had a 4 inch one on my old X Type and the difference was truly amazing, and it sounded superb. Just had one fitted to my S Type, a 3.5 inch exhaust and although it does sound nice when pushed, it sounds incredibly quiet when cruising alone. Wouldn't say i was disappointed, more surprised. Was wondering if the tone would improve with better induction?
  5. Hi Chaps, Bought myself a new battery and problem solved, everything 100% whenever you turn the key now. Thanks for all the advice and info. Incidentally, I found when I was having problems that if you turned the ignition on, you can manually release the hand brake before turning the engine over. An error message would come up saying that you cannot apply the parking brake and an amber warning light, but the car was still completely drive-able. Once you turn the ignition off, the brake would reset for the next time. Not ideal I know, but it saved opening the boot up every five minutes and either disconnecting the battery or unplugging the management system hidden behind the brake lights. Different car with a new battery, my advice, early xmas presents all round!!! Thanks again, Drago
  6. Hi Peter, Many thanks. Seem's to happen more when the temp drops so reckon I'll treat myself to a new battery. Thanks again, Regards, Andy
  7. Hi Peter, Many thanks for the info. Is this a common fault? doesn't seem to effect the car driving, just irritating at times having an error message and little yellow flashing light. Thanks again Andy
  8. Hi, Just sold my beloved X type and got a 3.0 Sport S type. Nice motor, reliable but has a glitch with the electric handbrake. Sometimes when you turn the ignition a fault shows up saying the handbrake is locked. It won't move. Turning the engine off and restarting after all the lights go out will sort the problem. I have found that manually taking the brake off with the ignition on works okay but on occasion you get a fault saying that you cannot apply the hand brake with an amber warning light. Again, turn the engine off and it resets. Other than that, car works fine. Can anyone tell me if this is due to a sensor or some easy fix? Also, have fitted an Adamesh exhaust and have fallen in love with the new growl I'm getting, but a bit disappointed that it's not as throaty as the X type. Anyone else think this? Would changing the induction set up help? Thanks
  9. Just part ex'd my beloved X type for a 3.0 S type sport auto. Missing the exhaust note already but love the new car. Anyone put adamesh exhausts on an S type before? Was the effect as good as the X type? What makes it painful is my old car keeps coming up on car guru. So wish I'd kept it!
  10. Hi chaps, Are we just talking about remapping diesel, or petrol cars too? I've a young colleague at work who has a petrol Honda Civic type R and races at Santa Pod. Recently had his engine remapped and it's now kicking out over 290bhp, up over 60bhp to it's previous "tuned up" best. Anyone on here remapped a 2.5 3.0 V6 by any chance? If so, what was the increase in power?
  11. Hi all, Still playing with my old X type and now considering installing an air induction kit and possibly remapping of the ECU. Have read you can get some quite amazing results but was wondering if anyone has first hand experience of these upgrades? Any pitfalls to look out for?
  12. Pleasure James. Forgot to add that you'll get a lot of people asking you if it's a V8, plus a fair bit of interest at traffic lights with the boy racers! Look forward to hearing the update! Take care, Drago
  13. I've had mine on for a couple of years now and love it. Drive a Discovery too and always a treat to get back in the Jag. Has a very low rumble rather than screech which my boss reckons sounds like an old Aston Martin DB5 (he's owned Astons too). DB5 was a 6 in line so must be something in it. It is noticeable a low revs but not unpleasant at speed, spent one weekend going backwards and forwards through Hindhead tunnel just to hear the gear changes!!! No difference on fuel economy, maybe a little increase in performance (if you alter induction too will see a difference). Don't regret doing it at all but would suggest hanging on to old back boxes (which I didn't) in case the growl isn't to your liking. Bet you'll like it though! Best of luck with it, let me know how you get on.
  14. Thanks Trevor, really helpful link. Unfortunately haven't got the tools to do the job, although not sure what's wrong now as started it up to move it last night and now seems to be missing on one cylinder. Have taken Mick's advice (many thanks) and booked it into Jaguars to sort it out. I know, bottom lips quivering already, although my local Jag garage is actually very, very good and not that pricey (famous last words). Thanks again.
  15. Hi all, I was wondering if you could advise on the following. A could of years back the engine management light started to come on intermittently. Jaguar advised it was the oxygen sensor on the intake manifold and sorted the problem out. It's been fine until this week after a long motorway journey (must admit to putting my foot down as was late for an appointment). As before, the light now stays on for some time and then goes off. There is no discernible change in performance, no odd noises and it seems to be running better. Is this an easy fix? What damage would it cause long term if ignored? It's a 2003 2.5 V6 sport. Many thanks.
