  1. Hi. Hope the XF is going well. Ref your questions about windows and belts. I've just been through both on mine (2010 3.0d) The window is probably a failing window regulator mechanism which is an easy fix/change once you've watched some YouTube tutorials. I got a complete regulator set with motor for under £100 and completed the change in an hour. I had a broken steel wire. The hardest part for me was reinstalling the glass. Just needed to get angles right. I bought mine from a decent supplier on a well-known auction site. I've also replaced the cam belts, though this time I had the work done at my Jaguar specialist (Hollygrove near Ringwood) they charged about £700 for the full set and some other bits etc. Mine is running lovely, as I also had a gearbox service too. Good luck, RgdS Paj.
  2. Hi Mikey, Have a look at hids4u.co.uk for a headlight upgrade. The 55w units are great though you MOT might fail you with HIDS if you don't have headlight cleaning and self leveling lights (though that is just one day a year😇, the rest of the time they are great) These are not Chinese rubbish either so don't blind everyone! Not sure about the leather problem though. May need to move this question to the correct category, this is currently "Jags for sale" Good luck RgdS Paj
  3. Hi John, I've just had mine done by Hollygrove of Ringwood. My XF is a 3.0D 2010 with 85k on the clock. It cost about £375 plus labour, using Mahle products (as supplied to Jaguar). After they'd completed the job we had a look at the magnets which are mounted on the old sump. I didn't have any visible debris or metal filings. I've since cover 1000 miles and can feel a subtle improvement in gear changes and its quick reactions, especially when cold. It isn't earth shattering but then my Jag only goes on fast A & B roads and not into towns or city's (wife's Golf does all that stuff 😁) The guidance I've seen is about 10years or 100k, so I would add it to your "to do" list.
  4. Hi, I agree with Jim above. I didn't have a working heated screen after having a replacement windscreen. This was due to the cables in the A pillars not being connected correctly. Once working you will feel the glass getting warmer after a couple of minutes. You have the advantage of comparing each side as 1 side works. Good luck
  5. I've just received an email announcing the dates for the "Simply" shows at Beaulieu. I will be attending this event for the 3rd time and hope to be part of the Jag Owners Club (for the first time) if you're attending as a group. I'm located in central Dorset, if anyone wants to meet up and cruise in together (we can plan this nearer the time) For those who've never been, it is a great day out and a great opportunity to meet other owners that are super friendly (unlike some cliquey clubs) RgdS Paj

  8. Hi. Normal garage tools will be enough (spanners' sockets, Allen keys). Check out You tube for videos. If you're looking for pads, discs and wire, I can recommend MTec brakes in Derry/Londonderry. Free postage. I'm using their EBC Red and drilled discs. Good luck, Paj.
