  1. Hi, well the ride quality on poor roads is just one of the complaints I have with my XF. I also have 18" wheels and not keen on swapping to 17" due to the look. But to be honest, I think the harsh ride is actually one of the things you have to live with. In my opinion, changing to 17" is likely to give only marginal improvement.
  2. They are not daylight running lights, just on auto. They come on when the light is anything but very bright sunlight therefore I seem to be driving around with them on the majority of the time. I suspect the sensor is not working correctly and coming on at the wrong light level.
  3. Just as an update - getting there slowly? The car went in for the 5th time for the door rattle, they replaced the window rubber and door handle (shame they didn't screw the handle in correctly as it came off in my hand the next day). Anyway fixed now but I don't think this is the last of the rattle. Although now the door mirror doesn't work, so it will need to go back for that. They have replaced the pedal box to get rid of the squeak under warranty, so that's good news.
  4. Sorted, they had to replace the pedal box. This is a large box under the footwell, inside are two springs that control the pedal return, feels like a different car, nice and solid feel and no noise from the pedal. They performed it under warranty.
  5. So do I, just about had enough.
  6. The dealer said they did, but it didn't cure the squeak. I did look but the problem is you cannot see or easily get to much. Hence why they are saying they need to strip it down. they said it could be the 'pedal box' , whatever that is?
  7. Thanks. I will certainly be contacting the GM at the dealership regarding how unhappy I am and the poor service I have been recieving? When I picked the car up on Friday, after it going in all day to fix the rattling door, the rattle was still there as bad as ever, I heard it before I had even left the dealer forecourt. Went straight back in and had a good moan (again). It is now going back in again next week - the 5th time for same problem! To top it all I was told on Friday that they had lubricated the brake pedal but it had made no difference to the squeek. In order to find out what the problem is they need to strip it down. Unfortunately as they don't know what it is and therefore covered under the warranty, I would have to authorise the payment of £280. If it is covered under the warranty once they strip it down, I wouldn't have to pay. I have never known such a thing.
  8. Hope one one might be able to help. My 2009 XF Luxury has developed a squeaky brake pedal. The dealer has lubricated it but it didn't cure the problem. They say they need to strip it down at half a days labour. If not covered on the warranty then I will need to pay myself. Any idea what it might be and the likelihood that it wouldn't be on the warranty? Car has developed so many problems recently, this is just another issue
  9. It's a 2009 plate.
  10. New member, having recently bought an XF luxury 3.0 diesel. So far very disappointed but hoping to be turned. Car is full of rattles, squeakes and problems that cannot be explained. Has been in and out of dealership but as soon as one thing is resolved then something else happens. Seems whenever I take the car out there's something else to worry about. Currently: waiting to go back for major rattle on driver door (4th time to dealer). Passenger door handle sticks open, squeaky brake peddle, rattling centre console, fuel cap either won't open or shut - so a bit of a lottery filling up, lights stay on even on bright days, wipers are next to useless on auto as they are either on too much or not enough. I've had enough to be honest, dealer is poor. It takes forever to get through on the phone, they rarely call back and it has got to the point where I now have to drive 5 miles to he dealer if I need to talk to them. Back to BMW or Merc unless my opinion can be changed soon.
