  1. Glad you got to the bottom of the problem.
  2. Hi all. Had a company called Ruby Tune (well known company with good rep in my area), out today to do a Stage 1 remap and Egr delete on my 2 litre Se05 Reg, he said he had trouble communicating with Ecu and something about drive cycles. He couldn't do the remap as it will need to be opened up and booted and they do not do that. I'm gutted it can not be done as I have heard so many Jag and Ford owners say how they benefit from a remap. Has anyone had this?, if so how did you get the remap done? Thanks for any help. Dave. Weirdly after he left I drove her only to find the Ac on full with temp up to mid 20's, I don't use Ac and temp is always Low or 17, also the reversing sensors have suddenly started working, they had never worked since owning it and last owner said they suddenly stopped,
  3. That's a weird one, never encountered that before, Hope you manage to get to the bottom of it mate.
  4. My X type is Jagatha, I was watching Vikings when I first got her and wife caught me drooling over Lagatha in the series, she then named the car Jagatha and said the Jag can be my one and only mistress 🤣
  5. I wasn't aware of the 2 litre having a dpf, if the last owner say's he has removed it then I would imagine he would have blanked the Egr too, It is easy to check, the dpf would be visible on the exhaust system near the front as a large canister and if it has been gutted there may be welds on it that don't look like original factory welds, I am not aware of a delete pipe but the last owner could have had one made, also the egr would have a blank between the Egr and the manifold, there are companies that would be able to stage 1 remap the ecu, deleting the egr and dpf if it has one and also add around 30hp which makes the fueling and gear change better and making the car a lot more user friendly. I have been quoted £250 for egr delete and stage 1 mapping.
  6. I did the Mr muscle on mine when I first got her, Drilled and tapped a hole in rear and injected a load of it in, left it for an hour while I was pulling the egr and inlet manifold to give both a good clean, I worked the actuator arm back and forth every now and then to make sure the Mr Muscle was getting everywhere. Had no ill effects and apart from a cough, a little splutter and a load of smoke coming out, she was much better on a run and idled better too. Handy tip for you, the folding straw cap on a wd40 can fits on the Mr muscle and makes it easier to get right inside.
  7. Thanks for the reply Marty, Yeah I'm the same when it comes to quote or reply. The Boost hose goes from the intercooler up to the egr valve, mines in 2 peices with the sensor in between, not sure about the S types, never seen under the bonnet of one. I'll sort a blank out ands leave everything in its place, my mot bloke is a good guy and doesn't mind it being blocked off just has to be in place. I have to do the glow plugs before winter, I'm going to soak them for a few days before and after a journey, I heard they can be a pain, I watched a video on you tube on how to use a kit for removing a broken one, I have heard about the throttle body butterfly mod, haven't looked into the pro's and con's, I will do though. Regarding your S Type, Have you found any water puddled or dripping?, I had a 4x4 once that randomly lost a little coolant on booting it, turns out I had a weep from the water pump. I've just done a full clutch change on mine, next up is oil and filter change then Air con recharge, after that tyres then full suspension and some bushes and lastly a wheel bearing. After all that is done I'll book it for a remap.
  8. On mine the volume and other wheel works as does the source button but the voice button acts as a mute button. I was told , If you have the blue tooth module It works and if you don't then the buttons do sod all.
  9. Thanks Marty Can I Ask, When you blanked the Egr, did you use full blank or one with hole in it?, did you get any Eml light?, Mines a 2 litre and I've had different reports, I am planning a remap and they will delete the Egr from Ecu. I've always blanked my egr's in the past but they have been older cars and trucks.
  10. So after a few bits pulled and cleaned including Egr, few sensors and intake manifold, I found the top boost hose had a small split, replaced it and 50yards down the road the bottom split, changed that and all much much better.
  11. I have same car and year, mine has the locking nut key in that space
  12. I had the same on the drivers side rear, couldn't find the fault and ended up opening up the door card and bridging the wires to the lock to fool the car into thinking its closed, I later read it could be a break or short in the wires going into the door on the hinge side.
  13. Thanks Marty Changed the air filter and fuel filter today. Filled the new fuel filter with injection system cleaner, done it to all my diesels, works a treat, haven't done many miles since and noticed a bit of crud coming out, hopefully will clear and run cleaner, she does sound a bit smoother, going to do a full oil flush and change with a new decent oil filter. I need this motor to last a good 3 years or more. Fed up with changing cars each year.
  14. Thanks Marty, It was a one owner and did no more than 2k a year, he had it serviced religiously with jaguar but it has stood still under its cover for 6months, I've driven it for a couple weeks and I reckon it needs a good service, fingers crossed it solves it, had a run of bad luck with cars and coud so with the x type being good for atleast 3years.
  15. Hi all, Got a slight issue with 55plate 56k 2litre diesel manual. When driving steady in any gear it seems to have a slight stutter and I have noticed it is a bit smoky from the rear, looks like a darkish grey and heavy black when on the accelerator a bit hard. I am used to an old L200 so pretty much just blanked the Egr straight away on it and never had issues, I don't really want to mess too much with the Jag as it was running lovely until yesterday. I not had it long and plan a good service, oil and filter, fuel filter and air filter and pollen filter, will have a look at cleaning Egr and intake manifold and while it is off change the glow plugs. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?
  16. I'm still getting no joy getting phone to connect, can't find anything in the owners handbook, may try you tube and see if anyone has done a video.
  17. I would say they are ultrasonic sensors for the alarm and possibly a microphone for a phone connection.
  18. Thanks Frank.
  19. Just a polite hello and thanks for letting me in the forum. Just been given a 55plate 1 owner X-Type, 2litre Diesel on 55k miles, 1st Jag I have owned, always fancied getting one, toyed with either an S Type or XF or a nice XJ Have a few bits to sort, Passenger window sometimes doesn't quite close and whistles, Rear door sensor playing up, bypassed it for now to stop alarm going off. Rear parking sensors don't make a noise, I get a slight noise from each one but no beeping. Steering is a bit creaky. Will be making good use of the search bar. Once I've done these little things and a full service I hope to change the wheels for black and also change the chrome to body colour. Also fancy getting rid of the out of date satnav and screen for a dab radio smart screen stereo with parking camera. Gear knob needs changing where the last owner had a habit of picking the leather! Would like to get an updated colour coded grill . Trying to find an aftermarket supplier for bit and bobs Just little bits to suit my taste. I look forward to perusing the forum for ideas and information.
