  1. Absolutely. An excellent idea. I thought that was what we are doing.
  2. Lancaster Insurance are my favourite insurance company. I have my 420g, my XJ6 (1997), my XJs-C, and a 4.2 xj6 coupe (1976) are all insured for £700-, although they are obviously all collectibles I think it is very good value for money. Of course I haven't had a need for a payout so I can't give any recommendation really, but I think this is great. Of course, I took Admiral insurance for my 2000 'S' type 4litre, and that came in at £1000-, which was the best on "compare the market". Personally, I think they are all utterly ruthless when it comes to insurance. (apart from aforementioned Lancaster Insurance) I will qualify for Saga next year. See what they charge.
  3. ( I meant to say, embarrassingly, that I am not so computer literate.)
  4. Yes. Why not? How could it be done? I am open to suggestions.
  5. I must be the only JOC member in London. Unless you know differently. If anyone knows of any independent Jaguar garages in NW London, I would be grateful if anyone who sees this would post that knowledge here. I do not trust the corporations. Equally, I need to find a front radiator grill for my 1969, 420g. Please post any idea's here, or send me an e-mail. She looks so sad after some sod put a crease in the said front grill. Or if anyone knows of a gifted chrome worker who may repair the grill. Please don't be shy. A beautiful car needs support.
  6. Space, Pace, and Grace. Not very original I agree, but I stand by it.
  7. A thing of beauty is a joy forever. When I see such beauty, I know God exists. It can be quite expensive though, because I want them all. So far I have; a) 1969 420g. b) 1992 XJS-C c) 1997 XJ6 d) 2000 'S' type. I cannot sell them, and I need to buy more. The only problem is storage. I think I must get some shipping containers in the back garden for the next phase a) 1960 XK150 se drophead b) 1958-1961 XK150 fixed head c) 1970's XKC 4.2. d) 1980 XJ6 4.2 convertible. Fingers crossed, can I get them in 2013 ? I can only try. Maybe then I will finish off with an E-Type drop-head, and a mk11 3.8. I think I might then drive them all on a rotation basis. So, apart from the utter beauty of these cars, a well maintained engine produces unique music, and a marvellous forward (and rearward) motion. The comfort, particularly for a disabled person like myself, is a wonder, and the attractive comfort is crowned with a re-assuring view of polished walnut to give the comfortable feeling of a gentlemans club, or a respected library (think of the former reading room of the British museum). Sumptuous.
  8. Hello Colin, and everyone else. A great idea to list and rate the various independent garages around the country. I have not yet used a garage for any of my four jags. As I am in NW London, I will probably try "the jag workshop .com", which is in the Mall, Ealing, and relatively close to me. Unless of course, anyone in JOC tells me otherwise. I also need someone to re-varnish the woodwork in my 420g, where someone prior to me stripped back to bare wood. A friend of mine recommended a guy called "Mark" in Kent who he had re-place his fuel tanks, re-place the auto gear box, and re-place the engine on his 420g. No idea if he does work on interiors. I only have his mobile number, and I am unsure whether he would appreciate me quoting that before I even meet him. I have been told he is known to the JOC however. Anyway, lets get these workers some sort of listing, and some sort of rating. It cannot be a bad thing. 420g.
