  1. I have a 2005 S Type 2.5V6, it is a Japanese import and today has covered 39k miles. last Autumn after leaving the car at an airport for a week or so during the drive home the car went into restricted mode and had a misfire. Garage said water had got into the plugs somehow, so these were changed and all was ok, then the dreaded warning light came on with a P0420 code. Garage told me it was the catalytic converter, drivers side that needs replacing. I tried cleaners and E5 fuel but the light kept coming on. bizarrely the car has now passed its MOT with the warning light still on, another garage has changed one of the lamda sensors and has now done a diagnostic test, this showed both cats ‘pulsing’, they’re going to do a smoke test this week to check for air leaks does anyone have any ideas please? Is it likely that both cats have failed? If they have what should I do? best Julian
  2. Just for info, after discussion with JLR they agreed the car was UK built then exported to Japan. a helpful chap then sent me the original build specification for the car Result!
  3. I’m trying to find a build specification for my car, does anyone know if any S Types were actually manufactured in Japan? best Julian
  4. Thank you there isn’t a beep on the second dress but there is an internal clunk as the lock latches close! it would be good to try to find the original build spec, I’ll do some digging best Julian
  5. Thanks Joe Is there anywhere I can find out the spec differences? Would you say that the double locking on my car is ‘deadlocking’ which would generate the pulse to fire the relay? best Julian
  6. Hi Jo just taken a look at the car and on the second press of the remote lock button the internal door handle latches close the handbook (which I’m guessing isn’t original as it’s in English) describes the system as having central locking but there’s no mention of double pressing the remote lock button best Julian
  7. Joe if my car does have dead locking can you supply a unit that might work on my car? best Julian
  8. Thanks Joe my car locks twice with the key fob, on the second press what I believe is the deadlock on the internal door handles are latched closed, which I thought was deadlocking……but maybe not! i wondered if the frequency was a red herring, the article in the August JEC magazine showed that this module works and I’ve followed the same install, but it’s on a uk car I bench tested the unit and the relay latches and is held which appears ok this is the second unit I’ve tried and although there is a possibility that there’s a batch error but unlikely best Julian
  9. Thank you apologies, you’re right, I can fold the mirrors by manually pressing the button on the drivers door panel. i saw an article in the JEC magazine which described the install for this unit which makes the mirrors fold using the double remote lock, and for £30 it seemed like a worthwhile project Sadly on my car the remote fob locking has no effect on the mirrors I’ve found the part number for the UK driver door module that operates at 433Mhz but I’m now guessing I’d need new keys that I probably would be able to programme myself! what started out as a little project is turning into my HS2! best Julian
  10. I have a 2005 SType 2.5V6 that was imported from Japan in 2019 i saw in the club magazine a nifty electronic module that allows the door mirrors to close on remote key double locking for cars with existing manual folding mirrors I bought the module for £30 and have fitted it, but it doesn’t work. I’m pretty sure it’s because the remote locking works on a frequency for the Far Eastern market which is lower than the 433Mhz used in Europe does anyone know if it’s possible to reprogram or change components to achieve the European remote fob spec? thanks in anticipation Julian
  11. Hi Paul Thanks so much for this, I’ve placed my Platinum order Best Julian
  12. Has anyone any experience of waterproof winter covers for a modern S Type? thanks Julian
  13. Thank you John That’s very useful to know best Julian
  14. Has anyone fitted or looked into fitting DRL’s to an SType? ive seen some products that claim to replace the front fog lamps with DLR LED bulbs also not sure if DRL’s need to be fitted to the rear lights thank you Julian
  15. Thank you, I’ll check this evening
