  1. Hi Kevin, at a guess Ebay would be a good bet for buying one. It is really simple to remove the old one and replace it with the very basic of tools it takes less than 20 minutes so even at garage rates it is not a big job. Hope you find it. Rick
  2. Hi Paul, I bought a used Speedpack spoiler and fitted it at the weekend however the connector for the built-in antenna doesn't fit any cable so far supplied by Jaguar (I may start my own spares shop soon!) If I can resolve that connector issue there looks like a bit of a wrestle ahead to route the cable from the existing point where the old antenna is through the tailgate to the spoiler. I will buy a box of clips ahead of that as from past experience they couldn't be more fiddly and likely to break. Will let you know how that goes. I am removing the old antenna anyway (its already disconnected) and the car is booked into Chris Gregory's car finishing shop in Knaresborough in May to have the wing filled and painted. BTW, I did fit a marine antenna and hid it in the rear of the roof lining. Radio 1 and 2 work OK, Radio 4 hit and miss. Some local stations are OK, AM is non-existent. Cheers for now Rick
  3. Much appreciated Paul. Damn aerial is the only thing on the car I don't like. Along similar lines I was going to try a marine antenna on the basis that they have a longer range and mount that on the parcel shelf. Will let you know if that gets a better result with reception. Cheers
  4. Hey Paul, did you find a solution for this? Best regards Rick
  5. Buying a Magnaflow universal catalytic converter for 2007 XKR, anyone know the correct size of pipe to specify? By the way, left hand Cat failed at 37,000 miles.
  6. it turned out to be the supercharger belt. Jaguar fessed up to having made a mistake in fitting the wrong one a couple of weeks ago and have since put it right. Apart from that error and the time taken with trips to the workshop it cost £380 inc vat but I did get to drink their coffee and the use of their wifi and I can think of worse places to work.
  7. Hi Trevor, turning the radio up definitely works for me but I still have all those pedestrians telling me they think I have a bird nesting under the bonnet! Thanks for the link. Looks like another trip to the Jag workshop. Cheers
  8. Any XKR sleuths out there? My 2007 car makes a bird-like 'chirping' noise when cold. Have attached mp3 recording for reference. Sound lasts less than 2 minutes ie until car starts to warm up. Car runs great and I have no warning lights. I took it to Jaguar and they identified the supercharger belt so replaced that, the tensioner and all fittings... low and behold no difference. I will take it back to the dealer but I am interested if anyone else has/had something similar and what the fix might be. XKR2007FromCold.mp3
  9. Sorry Matthew, probably my ineptitude with the file! Attached mp3 version should do it. XKR2007FromCold.mp3
  10. Hi Matthew, thanks for asking. Have uploaded recording of sound. It only happens when starting from cold (very cold weather). Sound continues for about 90 seconds, car can be on the move, assume something warms up and then the sound stops. Car runs fine or if there is any difference it is imperceptible. Any ideas? Cheers Rick XKR when cold.wav
  11. on particularly cold mornings when I fire up my 2007 XKR there is an odd noise from the engine bay, lasts less than 2 minutes then all is well. any ideas out there as to what I should look for?
  12. Thanks for the reply Ian. As much as I was loathe to give up my Samsung I ended up following a similar route but switched to a Nokia Lumia 925 Windows phone and it has worked without issue. Still miss that Samsung!
  13. I have just bought a 2007 XKR. My Galaxy S II connects and tel numbers are shown on the dash but no contacts. Anyone know if there is a fix or can suggest an android phone which will work? As a post script... have spent the last couple of days fruitlessly trying to get help with this. It seems to leave 2 choices, chanevthe phone or change the car... to be honest Jag's failure in something that should be basic at this level has taken the shine off the motor. Shame.
