  1. Hi Trevor, Have you had your blood pressure checked recently?................just a thought Cheers, Mike
  2. Ahhh so you've got the "Lightweight" version, just think how much faster and better handling yours will be not having to haul all the junk that ours are weighed down with! :D
  3. I know this isn't about Sun-blinds, sorry everyone, but thanks Peter, courtesy of this post I've just discovered a new gizmo on my Jag! Cheers, Mike
  4. Hi Guys, I'm having some of the same issues with my 04 V8 and the stealership are being their usual helpful selves! "Must be something more serious" "We'll need it for two days etc". Has anyone used Nene Jag Specialists in Peterborugh? or have any recommendations in the Northants, Beds, Cambs area? Thanks, Mike
  5. Hi Kevin, It worked perfectly for the first 4 months of ownership and then one hot day it just started pumping red hot air into the car, I took it to a local aircon specialist who diagnosed the problem as a controller failure and suggested very firmly that I should take it to a dealership to get it sorted. They pointed out that the solenoid valve had failed and that was what had killed the controller. Apparently this is not an unusual mode of failure and is more likely if you have the Satnav fitted as the standard controller without the touchscreen is more robust. Hope that helps, Mike
  6. I think most of us S-Typers are well outside the warranty period now Trevor! I fitted Pagid discs and pads earlier this year (much blood and swearing) car now stops on a sixpence, braking is lovely and smooth and I've had no issues with fade Cheers, Mike
  7. Hi Stan, you'd know by now, mine pumped air into the car at 45°C with all the fans running at full chat! Regards, Mike
  8. That's a little personal, don't you think??
  9. Beware the three way valve near the radiator, mine went and took the climate control computer with it, £1500 at the stealership. I'll know better next time. Mike
  10. Hi Liam, You're right you've been a fool................... welcome to the club!! There's no logic to owning a V8 Jaguar that delights in making you a pauper at the slightest provocation (believe me I know). However the next time you have doubts, take it for a drive and they all will just drift gently away. Then you'll be absolutely sure you made the right choice. Or to but it bluntly stuff logic you own a Jag! Regards, Mike
  11. Hi Graham, Even the stealership might be cheaper than buying a laptop and getting the Jag through the front door to my desktop is a right bugger! Mike
  12. Thanks Kevin, I've just read TSB S307-14 and it describes exactly the symptoms I get. Now all I have to do is find somewhere other than the stealership to do the work. Cheers, Mike
  13. Interesting, No noises but my 4.2 also surges a little until warm, I was going to invest in the firmware upgrade to see if that sorted it but it sounds like it won't help. I had the 'box serviced recently and it's slightly smoother etc but no difference to the surging. Mike
  14. Hi John, What a coincidence, we're holidaying on lake Orta this September, about 20 minutes from Stresa! If you see a bearded guy in a V8 S-type give me a flash of the headlights. Regards, Mike
  15. F-TYPE PROJECT 7 electronically limited to 186 mph. XJ220 errrm not Or am I missing something? Mike
  16. Read the instructions Stan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good lord man what's wrong with you? :D
  17. Did you check the switch?
  18. Very nice John, Great news all round and if I may I'd like to give Liguria my personal recommendation. I lived there when I was younger in a place called Rapallo and the people were among the most welcoming I've ever met and the scenery is stunning! The very best of good luck to you both. Mike
  19. Hi Keith, I have a 2004 SE, when I remove the key the steering wheel moves up and the seat moves back. Check If the rotary switch on the left hand side of steering wheel is set to Auto. Cheers, Mike
  20. Very very nice, same engine, gearbox etc as my S-type but sooooooooo much better looking! Go for the 4.2 with the ZF box and I'll be properly jealous. Go for the XKR and I may have a little weep :(
  21. I'm not sure either, but what I do know is it seemed to still be accelerating reasonably briskly at 150 a few months ago in Germany. Hadn't raised the tyre pressures but it didn't seem fazed in any way. Cheers Mike
  22. Hi Kevin, You must learn to embrace the Sport button, it is your friend, and will only enhance the general Jaguarishness of your S-Type. Remember Grace, Space & PACE Cheers, Mike
  23. Is this a problem? I regularly buy from blackcircles and recently ASDA of all people. I haven't had a problem yet but can tyres "go off"? Mike
  24. Well said Charlie, Mike Ex R.N.
  25. Avoid Wanli like the plague, one of the very few times I've ever taken tyres with 5mm+ of tread off a car. Not bad in the dry but absolutely terrifying in the wet. The back end came round whilst coasting in to a bend. Now have Goodyear F1s fitted and feel much safer.
