  1. Hi Dave. Wow, you know your stuff. Thanks again for your input. I'll look into your suggestions. Cheers, Graham.
  2. Hi Dave. There is a sport button increasing the revs before changing gear. I'm not sure what that would do but appreciate the input. As I said, waiting 5 seconds from ignition to start up is working for now, keeping fingers crossed. Cheers. Graham.
  3. Hi Dave, Many thanks for your thoughts. I did put a new battery on but that did not cure the light. It may be a slightly less amperage than required, but the size of the tray was critical. When I start the car from cold 3 times, it's one after the other. The car is always on a trickle charger. I now turn the ignition on and wait 5 seconds before starting. Touch wood, the light hasn't come on over quite a few starts. I don't know what made me think of doing this but I'm hopeful. Cheers. Graham.
  4. For a few months, the auto trans warning light has come on intermittently. Usually, or always on a cold start. I had a fluid and filter change done. However, on picking the car up, the garage said that the filter was not the metal box type filter, but a mesh one. I can't find any info to mention a mesh filter. They cleaned it out. But the light can still come on. Usually the light doesn't come on the third start and the car runs perfectly. The car is a japanese import and many of the specialists I've contacted don't like the thought of that. But a gearbox is a gearbox. Can anyone help please?
  5. Has anyone correctly fitted 15" beauty rings to a Xjs Facelift with diamond lattice wheels?
  6. Sorry Joe. I've just realised I didn't reply to thank you for this invaluable information. Cheers.
  7. Thank you very much for your reply. I think I had that sensor changed, but that doesn't mean it's not faulty. I'll look into it.🤔
  8. Hi Everyone. I've had a long standing problem with my 1992 4.0L Xjs. When the car has been run to full engine temperature, the left for say 90 mins, shortly after moving off the engine has a hesitation as if stopping for a few seconds. It feels like fuel starvation. However a new pump and filter have been fitted along with leads, dizzy, rotor arm etc. The car runs beautifully after this short hiccup. However it could happen causing a dangerous situation. The engine has many sensors, many of which have been replaced. Is there a component I've missed to do with 'warm starting'? Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks.
  9. I bought one of the £25 disks off ebay. They load fine. However. A Tesco store was built close by, 8 years ago, and the disc still doesn't know it's there. Graham.
  10. Hi. The recent MOT advised that the N/S Drop Link on the rear suspension had play. I've had both sides replaced and this appears to have sorted out the Adaptive Suspension problem. Cheers,
  11. Hi Tony. Thanks for the reply. Yes my car does have the wiring. Cheers. Graham.
  12. Hi everyone. I'm pretty sure my 2009 4.2 XK has adaptive suspension. Is there a component that can fail causing the ride to go hard and then back to normal? Main dealers never allow me to talk to their technicians, only 'let's book it in to have a look at it'. They'd want at least £100 just to tell me they can't find a fault. Any help would be appreciated. Graham C
  13. Hi David. What a good idea. I'll try it, however there's only about an inch of extra space available. But it's worth a try. Thanks. Graham.
  14. Hi Peter. Unfortunately the XK does not have that function.
  15. Hi Peter. By 'auto seat movement', do you mean moving the seat back? So as to gain more space from the steering wheel. Or, is there something I'm missing?
