hi phil welcome to the club mate. i retired 18mths ago sold up to look after the wife, bought the xk as a pressie to myself. yes your right in all you say about your xkr, its not practical. the wife had a new c180 had it since new and it was just sitting ther and i stupidly sold it as i was using the xk all the time, only to buy a vauxhall insignia for picking up mother and the 2dogs. bad move. i am now thinking along the lines of getting an xj come the spring. but every were i go i get comments about the xk. how beautifull it is. so my head is in a spin about wat to do. do i keep what ive got or sell them both and get an xj. time will tell . regards charlie

cheers scott that would be good. i took early retirement to look after the wife who was ill, and bought myself the xk as a retirement pressie. love it. i only use it once or twice a week as we also have a vauxhall as the daily runaround shoping ect picking up my mother taking the dogs out ect the xk is not practicall that way. so iam turning towards the xj ,and just having the 1 car. like the look of the new xj. so any feed back would be great, regards charlie -

kenny my old partner had jags for years about 4-5 xj. he loved them then one day he came on site with 4plate xkr it was only 3years old at that time and we wer doing well he had told me he was changing cars. but i had forgot. it was blue with ivory leather wow it was a cracker and it could shift. he kept it for 5years then switched back to the xj. i was a merc lover at that time had 4 of them. but i know now having the xk my first jag what he liked about them.

sorry the mercs not included in sale lol charlie

hi folks. ive been thinking long and hard about this. since the wife took ill . we only need one car and the sensiable option for us would be to sell the 2cars we have ie a vauxhall insignia and my lovely xk 57 plate slate grey ivory intierior black alloys with its on set of winter tyres and alloys at 51,000mls. and buy an estate car xf or merc. i am open to sensiable offers but must stress that i am in no means desperate so no silyl offers please. if interested please contact me. charlie

kenny the xk8 was the first sports car or gt since the end of the e-type for jag . it had a 4ltr engine then they supercharged the same engine giving more bhp so i think your right thats it a 4ltr job. then they brought out the present one changed the shape. made it a 4.2l job again tweked the engine to get more bhp called it the new xkr. then the 58plate came in they made all the engines 5ltr jobs and again tweaked it about to get the present xkr. if that sounds right
-
nice one tony. ive sat in one twice, could hardly get in and out . think cullum designed it for the younger slimmer class. the xk is far for comfortable but its a gt. wer as yours is a sports car, but a bellter . enjoy young man regards charlie
