hi steve , I am on my second jaguar now new xj year old car. love it. took early retirement 3 year ago {wife took ill} was a building co owner who had mercs bms new every 3 years, last bm an x5 was a night mare every elec prob that you can think of it had it, was looking to buy a 911 retirement present to myself seen an xk and it was love what a car had it for 3 years but it wasn't practical couldn't get the wife and my mother in it at the same time. only probs I had with it in 3 years wer the parking sensors but wer sorted out with the dealers. so was looking to change to more practical car ie 4 seats always fancied a bently or a nice s-class but opted for year old xj prem l and love it . hope you love yours atb charlie

hi kim, take the car to a garage that you trust tell them whats happened ect and that your getting the code ect ask them to see if they can diagnose with their machine some garages charge a small fee of £20 for this but can be worth it. find out wat prob is and get price for fixing it. if you were in the central belt area of scotland I would tell you to take it to jaguar prestige in paisley. all the forum members recommend them as do I you can phone them for advice ask for dougie or jim. tel them on 0141 887 2861 very helpful. mater of fact phone them first. charlie

I nearly had an s type I liked the look of it. but wanted a sports job was going to buy an 911 but seen the xk out off the blue and was hooked 3 weeks into new xj miss the v8 roar enchanched exhaust and the looks. the wife used to say to me all the time people are looking at us. no dear its the car lol

hi alec in my 57 xk the sat nav was useless I even bought an up to date garmin for trips. but I have updated to an xj14 pl car and have only played with it and it seems very easy to use and much more better than the old sat nav in the xk. my x5 sec gen before the xk was worse i couldn't come to terms with that just like bmw the first and last, was going to buy new s-class but very bland inside just like the 7 bm, audi is good but the jag steals it

I agree with deadloud, I have been using supermarket fuels both perol &devils fluids for years and no problems wats so ever. if you the person wants to pay over the odds to please yourself then its down to personal choice

yes tony you will. but as long as you use gen jaguar parts from an indie garage you will be ok just mind and state that to the garage you are planning to use or go to a main dealer and buy the pads from them and get the indie garage to fit them. keep the receipt

rob look out for all the usual things when buying a second hand car. check the engine bay dip the oil stick check tyres ect and please please buy an approved used from a jaguar dealer you get 2 years warranty. when buying an approved used car from jaguar dealers compared to 1 year from audi bmw &merc. you can also do checks on the car before you buy. ask to see the service book, and see when it was last serviced by a jaguar dealer phone them up. ask for the service dept from the last main jag dealer on it. they will be able to tell you all recalls and history inc any repairs ect, but only if you find out by looking or asking who last serviced the car, if it turneds out to be full main dealer history write down the dealers name and call them prior to putting down your hard eard cash. do your checks. modern jaguar cars are fantastic and built to take on the german s head on. but I will tell you of my expr I traded in my xk for a year old xj. got a photo of the vin no when at the dealership as well as other photos. done my home work phoned an other dealer and gave the vin no of the car I was hoping to buy . they could tell me nothing about the car. I had to go back and ask to see the service book . turned out to be the same dealer but phoned them any way they could tell me all service and work done ect, jaguar is way behind the germans in that dept my oldest son bought an A7 from a private dealer in preston, I phoned audi preston who could tell me every thing over the phone that the car had been bought from audi Newcastle and had last been serviced by audi Liverpool and what repairs ect had been done to the car as well as confiring the millage ect. so jaguar lag behind that lot. my new xj premium lux is the bees knees lol its GOOD TO BE BACK

peter, this is my last reply on this club, i feel i have nothing more to offer on here, i joined to take part in days out & rallies and the like. thats not happening on here. as ive said today all we do is in my mind is rattle on about banggers, sorry but thats what they are to me (had a few myself the bmw x5 was the worst and that was an 08plate) im no stuck up toff . never have never will. dont get me wrong i love my jag but not as much as you, to me it seems if we had two biscuit tins yours would always be the better. ive been to 2days out since i joined THESE FORUMS and both days out were organized by other members and it was a mixture of other clubs that turned up. its wasting my time. as ive said this is my last reply or post and will be editing the settings so as i wont get emails to any more off them, so you all can feel free to comment as i wont, goodbye charlie

trevor, she sounds lovely, tell her one day i will, if she has a focus she basiclly has a jag as ford made them, before i got the xk, i had expressed intrest in the xf, a friend of mine said its a ford mondeo with leather seats . i better fix the settings on here after that as inbox would fill up haha charlie

trevor. i like the spring, dont like winter much cold&wet. but hope fully no snow, we never got any last year, and god willing he will give all that to peter this year he has a fondnest for in haha but as i said to kenny im in know hurry, trevor i know all cars break down bentlys rollers even mercs trevor, lol but as i said to kenny again all i seem to do on site is deal with problems no days oot, so i am taking the doctors advice and taking a break from practical mechanics. ps have you got your trenchies dug rains on the way haha charlie

thanks kenny, that is my intention come the spring, but unlike others my jags fine no problems at all, fingers crossed, so im not in a hurry to give more cash to the dealers, i joined the club really for to take part in days out, but feel like stressed out gp. charlie

peter, i never meant to offend the guy. was just stating in my opinion that it was & is a banger. to me that is the truth. he would be throwing his money away, after all its not a classic is it. to much plastic in it for that. regarding the SHOVEL it seems as if i am constantly digging out old bangers. have done my best to get you your christmas wish of the 4ft of snow for the birmingham area.
