  1. trevor, my intention was to put the jag into hibernation over the winter. use betsy the gm car thats why i bought it. keep the jag for the weekends , holidays ect. the trickle charger was just to keep the battery in good nic, i am also looking for a good car cover that i can buy for it as santa wont bring me one .i will have to buy that to.i like going into aldi to look at the junk (bits&bobs they sell) they have 2 stores in town. dont like lidl. HM likes the heated seats i dont like them, in the past i only put them on to no1 just to take the cold from it for a wee min then switch it off.. charlie
  2. its nearly that time off year again folks, love it or loath it, my old hen s clucking away about what to get for so&so at great expense . and if im lucky i will get the usual stinking aftershave (that i pour on the weeds) socks&hankies that i dont want. so what is santa bringing you. charlie :)
  3. on the plus side, i did manage to get a trickle charger from aldi 2nite for£14 charlie
  4. trevor , its my own fault for getting the basic model. no heated seats or parking sensors or folding mirrors camera ect. only wanted a wee motor to do the shopping in. trevor mercs are good. i had a mondeo estate many moons ago it was ok. you could have bought a house with the money youve spent on cars, get an old classic merc 70s or 80s no repeat no computers or sensors. charlie
  5. peter, tow bar would not have helped this time . its was the back bumper passenger side right at the corner. but know what you mean thanks charlie
  6. well ther you go chaps. whent out to glasgow vauxhall dealership this afternoon to pick up the insignia 10mths old . it was in coz i had noticed the steering fluid turning a milky pink colour . was booked in on tue morning but had taken it in on mon evening as HM does not like driving at busy times. any way they had changed the steering pump&pulley. and it got a software update to. they also gave it a health check. service guy was very nice told me to bring it back in to them in 2-3mnths and they will give it another check over all done under warranty. i was impressed. got into the car and promptly reversed into a wall behind me. eh lucky white heather. badly scratched, so ive a job to do in the better weather lol charlie

  10. trevor forgot to add. now a days i think its just pot luck, what you get when you buy a car, wither its bmw, mercades, audi OR JAGUAR its a lottery mate believe me. some is cheap junk others are more expensive junk. charlie

  24. peter. i had put the jag into hibernation for the winter, bought a trickle charge thingie off ebay keep the battery in good nick over the winter.was out side yesterday checking over the vauxhall daily runner giving it a winter check over. noticed that the power steering fluid was a milky red colour. said to my mate (garage owner) he says thats emulsifonation and to take it into them seemingly very common problem with the insignia. so have booked it in for tue next week. its only 10mts old, so jags back out. charlie
  25. hi clive and welcome to the club. i think you done the right thing buying a new battery, as your car is now 5yrs old. mines 6. and i bought a new bosch battery for it in april. 1stly can i ask were you bought it from. 2ndly have you tested it. i would buy a tester meter from any car place test the voltage. could be its been sitting on the shelf that long and went flat. just a thought. 3rdly if you know a friendly indy mecanic with a diaognostic machine get them to stick it on the car see what it picks up. but i know if you have dissconected the old battery and then reconected the new one. you will have to adjust all the settings. when i installed mine i used jump leads to both batteries so that no connections were lost. its worth testing your new battery before it goes in to main dealer costs ect ect. but in the end they should fix the probs. charlie
