  1. To be honest, When my fan belt was replaced, and the battery was totally flat, the battery was taken out and charged overnight, I never had any problems with the central locking or anything else. The battery was in perfect condition and when the sensor was fixed, the mechanic I used just disconnected the left terminal on battery, plugged sensor in, It took approx 30 Seconds and now the car is working as it should.........Start/Stop working and no issues with central locking.......Also, I was stood beside the guy as he did it and the key was in my hand..........Maybe the 2015/2016 models are different from earlier models........That I don't know, as I am no Mechanic. All I know Is that it the fix worked. I just wanted to share my experience and help others...........It will be interesting to hear from others if this solves the problem from them to
  2. Hi glyn. The sensor is on the left battery terminal which is the big battery in the boot..........The sensor is a small plastic plug that just plugs in, I think you need to undo the terminal to get to the plug and clean it, then put it back. The start/stop started working after about 8 miles of driving, and I was elated i tell you. Hope you find it and I hope it works........If you can't find it, I will post pictures of it to help out.....I'm sure your car is the same as mine
  3. I absolutely love the XF, these cars are super reliable, I have the 2.0D Portfolio that has 125,000 on the clock and it drives like new. The only problems I have had is a broken fan belt, and the gear selector that stuck in Drive (which cost me £200 to fix) Re-Conditioned though, and recently my start stop sensor unplugged.........That cost me £0 to fix. The parts are reasonable and are very reliable despite the bad press. The 2011 XF, very nice car and in my opinion yes it is worth £2k...........I would buy it! The Supercharger........Wow! If I could drive one in London I would have one, It is a future classic and very desirable. I have been driving Jaguar for over 20 years and swear by them, but the XF Is the best and I wouldn't drive anything else. These cars can do 300,000 miles easy. Hope that helps even though it's my opinion
  4. Hi all A couple of moths ago my fan belt broke, battery went flat so had to be transported to the garage for repairs. The mechanic removed the battery to charge it. When I got the car back the start/stop did not work at all (Very frustrating) The mechanic could not find the fault at all! This morning I had the battery checked by someone else and he noticed that the sensor that is in the boot was disconnected, he plugged it in, now it is working perfectly and it is such a simple fix (Free) Apparently this is a common fault on XF and XE, The sensor gets disconnected, or packs up. I just wanted to share my experience, as when I was searching online for reasons Start/Stop wasn't working, I couldn't find any answers. If anyone has this problem, try this. You do need to undo the negative terminal on the battery to re connect the sensor. I hope this will help others with the same issue and please post if this fix works
  5. I hope you get it sorted, and please let us all know how you get on Martin
  6. I had the same problem when I had a Jag V6, I spent a fortune trying to fix it, It turned out that it was the air filter and fuel filter, as soon as they were both changed, the car was perfect and problem solved. I'm not saying that it is that but it's worth a try and it's pretty cheap..........But it did work for me. It does feel like the car goes into Limp Mode, and lack of power when trying to accelerate. Hope that helps.
  7. Just to give an update........My car was running perfect, and in less than 12 hours of repair, the car was stolen, so am unable to say if the refurb is going to last, (probably another 10 years) but I will never know. Essex Recon Centre are absolutely brilliant........Take your unit in person or send it and they will refurb it.
  8. Thankyou so much for the response. I managed to get it sorted. I found a place in Dagenham, Essex who reconditioned my own one. Firstly, it took 6 minutes to get the unit from the car, I took it to Essex recons Ltd On the Dagenham Docks Ind Estate. They completely refurbished and updated my existing one (better than JLR Factory) for £175, and they did it whilst I waited......It took the engineer 58 minutes to refurbish with new more reliable parts and gave me a 2 year warranty. It took 8 Minutes to refit into the car, now the car runs perfect, and I am a happy bunny. If anyone out there who has the same issue as I had, then just call them, send yours and and receive it back by courier within 48 hours, or call in and it will be done in 1 hour. Their Number is 01708 206343. much cheaper than buying new and definitely better than second hand. If anyone needs their address then please contact me as I want to help any JLR owner who maybe experiencing the same issue. My total outlay by the way was £220 as my mechanic charged me £45 which I am happy with.
  9. Thankyou so much for your reply, I will take a look on flea bay now, and hopefully get my baby back on the road again a.s.a.p.
  10. Hi all. Can anyone give me some advice please? I have a 2016 Jaguar xe r-sport Diesel Auto. Car was running fine, I pulled into supermarket and parked up, I went to put the car in P (from D) and it would not move. I then turned the engine off (stupid me) Now the car will not start. AA say it is the gear selector which is a common fault on these I believe. The car has been taken to a garage in East London and is still in D. My mechanic is away until Wed and I am trying to find the part number if anyone knows it so I can order the part for when he returns, so the car is repaired a.s.a.p. If anybody could help with this I would be grateful. Many Thanks
  11. I had the same problem. Mine is 08 plate with 19 inch wheels. I had 30 pound pressure in the tyres all round, I took the tyres up to 35 pound and it cured the problem, no more vibration.
  12. I believe a warped dash is a common problem and I am looking to replace it. The colour of mine is warm Charcoal ( Trim code LEG). I have been offered a replacement that is described as black, Is this the same colour as my warm Charcoal? I appreciate anybody's help and advice......Thanks
  13. Thankyou, I have changed the EGR, and the intercooler pipe (which was split) Now it seems to be perfect. I had the AA do diagnostic check as there were no dash warning lights on. Well its all fixed now. Anybody else who has same sort of problems, try the intercooler pipe £22 from ebay. Cheap fix! Many Thanks for advice. Marty
  14. Hi all, I have an X Type 2.0 Diesel 2004 model. When the car had warmed up car seems to be running lumpy, acceleration is a little unresponsive for approx. 2 secs when in top gear. It feels like it is missing a little. I had the diesel filter changed but it seems to have gotten worse. When in top gear then putting foot down, it stutter for around 2 secs then ok until I accelerate again then runs lumpy for a bit then calms down. Any ideas as to the problem? Any advice or tips would be appreciated greatly. Thanks. Marty
