  1. Tony, Next Wednesday to see Joan Armatrading , diesel and race in the same sentence I presume you jest ? I was lent a XF 3 litre devil's fuel when the Aston was in the garage (as usual) .Must admit I did like it WIll be taking the father in law to lunch at the Seahorse in Shalford first, then back to Guildford for the concert. Might pop in to see my daughter in Croydon on the way home on Thursday ATB, Trevor
  2. Charlie, I know it is expensive ( you could buy Scotland for that), But the reason is because they are all genuine Jaguar parts, all bought from Jaguar, brake pads, oil and air filters, spark plugs, the oil and everything else as not to invalidate the warranty , should anything major go wrong (not that I trust them over that), as stated on the post above the mark up is incredible. The next service will be a lot cheaper . As I also said, I was lied to by the stealership, and the car hadn't been touched for over a year, can you imagine how much it would have cost if they had serviced it (the labour alone would have cost at least £614) ? My service book had a stamp, and no other details in it, the dealership said they would look into it, and never did . When the service light came on, I got in contact again, still no response. Since the service I have written to both the dealership and Jaguar, and as of yet had not had a reply, but I will persist I got caught for paying for services in advance, another con by the stealership just to make you go back to them . At least I have now have it done properly, and all is back to normal, no more stealerships for me ! I haven't heard back yet from Jaguar, but intend pursuing them for compensation. Hate being lied to. I am getting to the point where i dread the day I first walked into a stealership (a BMW) , my last six cars have been bought through them, and I have certainly paid through the nose ! I should have stuck with the old Mondeo, far cheaper and less hassle than the BMW's, Aston Martins, and Jags . I would service the car myself but don't know how to, also with the wife being mentally ill (she is really ill at the moment) I do not have a lot of time to myself, so all these hassles I could well do without . Just the builders to pay now ! ATB, Trevor
  3. Peter, I can well believe what you say about the part prices . The owner of the independent garage I got the car serviced at said exactly the same thing . He used genuine Jaguar bits as not to invalidate the warranty, but said he could have got the exact same brake pads from the exact same company (i've forgotten their name but think it begins with "A") that supplies Jaguar, but two thirds Cheaper , he could not believe the mark up. The whole bill for the service and brake pad renewal was £648 ( a lot higher because of the Jaguar bits ). The only consolation is that I know that the car has been serviced properly and is running like a dream . The labour charges alone if I had had it done at the stealership where I bought it would have been £614 . Charlie, might give that number a ring myself ATB, Trevor P.S. Front wall nearly finished
  4. Peter, What about the extortionate prices they charge for spares, and their hourly rate for repairs. My wife also got a Jaguar umbrella, and flowers, and a teddy bear, but I have spent close on a £100k there, so, so they should ! They also let you use nice courtesy cars, but all this comes from the same place, out of the punter's pocket . My last six cars have been bought through dealerships, and i've paid through the nose and been treated like dirt by all of them A better deal can got elsewhere, bunch of con men . ATB, Trevor
  5. Tony, Indeed I have ! With with an Aston Martin, and with the Jaguar I bought from the same dealership in Exeter ! I would line them all up and shoot the lying thieving ******** at dawn . I was told my XKR had been serviced when I bought it in May, paid the £50K on the nose. Not only have i found out since that the car hadn't been serviced since October 2013, but the back brakes were totally worn away. It cost me £648 to get the car serviced and rear brake pads fitted (Genuine Jag parts hence the price) at a trustworthy independent garage . When I phoned the dealership and complained I was told "it is the way you have driven it sir" . If it wasn't a 140 mile round trip to the garage I would probably be behind bars now, I am so furious . I have written to Jaguar to complain, but have yet to receive a reply; well they have my money haven't they ? Never again will I use a dealership, I think it it about time their myth was well and truly exposed ! My Aston Martin fiasco is on another thread somewhere . ATB, Trevor P.S. I'm coming down to Guildford on the 12th
  6. Kenny, I must agree, thought it would be cool, but it is what you say, I would go further and say it shouldn't be allowed . It cuts down the vision dramatically, even in the daytime . ATB, Trevor
  7. Ian My XJ Supersport had it (privacy glass), and I didn't like it at all. I found it very restrictive when filtering into traffic coming from the right . Here is a pic ATB, Trevor
  8. Andrew, The code HGP/1945 states it is Aspen pearl-met (metalic) Which should look like this (Grey to me as well) ATB, Trevor.
  9. Tony, I always use the paddles on my XKR when it's in dynamic mode, it is more like an on off switch than anything else , it is instant power . ATB, Trevor
  10. The XJ is excellent, and as the boy Charlie say, it is a fab colour . XKR goes like a rocket now it's been serviced by a proper garage. ATB, Trevor
  11. Kenny, We'll pose in it for him, no need to go over 30 . ATB, Trevor
  12. Peter, Fair enough, All the police down here are on horseback . ATB, Trevor
  13. Kenny, I had a Cooper S, and I couldn't agree more with the other points, far to complicated for their own good . Peter, If your speedometer was checked, and you knew you were doing 50 MPH in a 40 MPH, why? ATB, Trevor
  14. Kenny, The links given are for non digital speedos. it is obviously getting too much for hi, so I'll toss you for it. I used to be under the impression that digital speedos were dead accurate , but far from it. They claim it would be too expensive to produce extremely accurate speedometers, and as one that under reads is an MOT failure, that is why they over compensate. ATB, Trevor
  15. Stuart, Come on, the XK isn't an excellent family car, it is basically a two seater with a bit of posh luggage space in the rear , or as one reviewer stated " although officially billed as a 2 + 2, the only rear passengers capable of being transported in the back would be a selection of granny’s favourite garden gnomes." ATB, Trevor
  16. Adrian, My neighbours, Mr and Mrs Subtitle are from Warrington . I should have bought an E Type instead of wasting my money on the Aston Martins . Saying that, my XKR runs fantastic now that I have had it serviced at a decent garage . How about these Adrian? http://www.autoinsider.co.uk/local/garage-services/ai_68868.php ATB, Trevor
  17. Adrian, If you go an motorway there are posts one mile apart, drive at 60 MPH and see how long is takes you over or under 60 seconds. You can get parts on Ebay if the worst comes to the worst http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xjaguar+e+type+speedometer&_nkw=jaguar+e+type+speedometer&_sacat=0 http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=jaguar+e+type+speedometer&_from=R40&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xjaguar+e+type+speedometer+cable&_nkw=jaguar+e+type+speedometer+cable&_sacat=0 Or if it all becomes too much Kenny and myself will take it of your hands for you. Kenny, Digital speedos tend to over read by an average of 10%, that is why speed cameras are calibrated to allow for error . This is quite interesting . http://click2how.com/your-speedometer-wrong-can-drive-faster/ ATB, Trevor
  18. Thankfully down our way they just steal horses and sheep . But Peter, didn't you have your car stolen off your drive? ATB, Trevor
  19. David, welcome, as Peter said, you should enjoy the club as you do your Jag . You shouldn't have bowed down to "she who must be obeyed", but got and XKR out of spite ! But the XF is a fab car, is it petrol of the devils fuel ? ATB, Trevor ( I hate dealerships)
  20. Charlie, Colin and myself don't have winters down here in the West Country, but a new battery sounds like it could solve the problem . ATB, Trevor
  21. Colin , It does sound like the battery is on the blink, do you have one you can borrow just to make sure before you splash out ? ATB, Trevor
  22. Geoff, You are correct it comes up with " The promotional code you have used has either expired or does not exist". Perhaps Steve can shed some light on this . ATB, Trevor
  23. Peter, You never know. But not interested in the XE until they put the 5 litre engine in ATB, Trevor
  24. I have today written to Jaguar complaining about the dealership, and asking for reimbursement for the brake pads, I think i know what the answer will be, but one can only try . ATB, Trevor
  25. Charlie, Best way, unfortunately I can't do things like that. In theory the stealership should have the decency to replace brake pads after such a short period of time, but as with insurance companies, everything is loaded in their favour, and they would only have clawed back the expense from other parts of the service (they charge £175 PH) . But i do have a decent honest garage, which I wish I had stuck with . I will do all future sales, purchases and servicing through them in future . ATB, Trevor P.S. Don't even get me started on BT, Marks & Spencer, Hinds the jewellers, H. Samuel, and P C World . The wife claims I could start an argument in a morgue, it is not true, I am quite placid really, just like to see fair play
