  1. Kenny, I think it's the same engine that they're going to use in the Aston Martin. ATB, Trevor
  2. I don't mind my pension being means tested , I don't mind the carers allowance being stopped for looking after the wife ( who believe me gets unbelievably poorly ) I don't even mind still paying the full council tax. But what I do mind is when I walk around town, and see the workshy , who have no intentions ever of working, getting a free living off the tax payer ! ATB, Trevor
  3. Kenny, The AMG GT is 4 litre " AMG have developed a brand new 4.0L twin turbo engine and ditched the 6.2L naturally aspirated V8" ATB, Trevor
  4. Glyn, I took that as read, no immigrants down here . Don't do public transport , hence on bus pass . ATB, Trevor
  5. Glyn, They need it to keep the great unwashed in drink and !Removed! and a living free down here . ATB, Trevor
  6. Glyn, Good lad . This is where I live . ATB, Trevor
  7. Peter, That is the one I meant to post instead of mine (XK), my mistake, sorry . It does take a few attempts as it has to be done quickly . I think it works on the X type also . The XK one I posted also works on the XF ATB, Trevor
  8. Scott, It all depends what you want really, the XJ is a fab car regardless of engine, although I don't like devils fuel cars . Although the supercharged 5 litre is quicker than the normally aspirated 5 litre, it isn't fantastically so , as your engine is no slouch as you will find out . The stealership tried to sell me a XKR-S (same year as mine ), but wanted my car plus £19500 ! and not much difference in performance . Same as mine isn't that much faster than the standard XK. There is a difference between the XK, and the XKR-S though, but so is the price. This is exactly like my car, apart from mine has ivory interior . http://www.mycarcoach.co.uk/news/road-test-review-jaguar-xkr-by-nick-johnson/ ATB, Trevor
  9. Scott, This might be of interest. ATB, Trevor
  10. Scott, I would imagine so,but it would probably be very expensive. Adding a supercharger is not as simple as adding something like a turbo charger to the engine. A turbocharger, for the most part, can just be bolted on, but in almost all cases the entire engine must be modified to enable the use of a supercharger. This includes things such as widening the cylinders. Why not buy a supercharged one to start with ? My Xj supersport with the supercharged 5 litre engine was considerably faster than both of my Aston Martin DB9's . ATB, Trevor
  11. Peter, Might be a bit painful though ! ATB, Trevor
  12. John, If this is true and you get it fixed, what is to stop the rodents doing the same thing again? You could always move here ( pic only posted because the girl is very pretty) ATB, Trevor
  13. Kenny, I love convertibles also, but only the hard tops like the Mercs and BMW's use . Main drawback is I haven't a garage; so if they go wrong i'm stumped. The roof in The BMW 335 M sports went wrong (ex dem car) , and the roof went wrong in the Aston twice in the first month of ownership (only done 18000 miles). 'Er indoors wanted me to get the XKR-S convertible last month but as I said I don't trust the roofs, don't like rag tops . It was the same year as my XKR (two tomorrow) 2012, but they wanted my car, plus £19500 ! ATB, Trevor
  14. Scott, The XKR, but the XJ Supersport was also a brilliant car, but too big for round here. ATB, Trevor
  15. Kenny, My friend works at the Merc dealership in Nottingham ,and can get me cars at trade . But i'm quite happy with the XKR at the moment , in the last three years I've had a BMW 335 M sports convertible, an BMW M3 convertible, an Aston Martin DB9 convertible, an Aston Martin DB9 Le Mans, a Jaguar XJ Supersport, and now this Jaguar XKR. All cars chosen buy 'er indoors, and she's still not satisfied ! I might add, she cannot help it, it is all part of her illness, she even changes her clothes 20 times a day ! If I did get a Merc , it would be the AMG GT. ATB, Trevor
  16. Kenny, I would send some Somerset farmers, but they would get lost . It's the Devon ones that show a few manners . Still don't like tractors though ATB, Trevor
  17. Kenny, Not really bothered about practicability as there's just the two of us. If I got her that, she's want something different a fortnight later, I just take what she says with a pinch of salt. Before I got the XKR and still had the XJ Supersport , I took 'er to the Merc stealership in Exeter, but she didn't like any of them ATB, Trevor
  18. Lee, Welcome to the club , you will find everyone friendly on here . The X type is a cracking car, I'm sure you will enjoy it . Don't worry about MPG , let others do that for you, and you do get used to it , and it's better than some VW dinky toy run on devil's fuel ! ATB, Trevor
  19. David, You've convinced yourself, go get one. I have a XKR, fantastic car, tyres are about £225 each (although i haven't bought any yet), I average 24 MPG, and can get 31 MPG on a run, which isn't bad considering it's a 5 litre supercharged engine. Insurance I can't tell you about as I don't know your age and stuff, but mine is £345 a year . I am getting the car serviced on Monday so will let you know the cost of that then . They need servicing every 12 months or 15000 miles. In general i've found the Jags (i've had two) about the same as the BMW's to run, and a darn sight cheaper than the Aston Martins i've owned . I think if you find yourself a good independent garage (we have a list ) that will keep the costs down Welcome to the club, we have a few Welsh members also . If you take a XK for a run, it will be yours . ATB, Trevor
  20. Charlie, I'm not knocking Mercs, quite like them, tis just 'er indoors's spendthrift ways when she's not well that I'm moaning about . I think that the AMG GT, looks a cracking car. I'm not so sure about build quality though , Merc have recalled over 8000 C class cars built this year over a steering fault ,which isn't good for a so called prestige car manufacturer . http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/mercedes/c-class/88981/mercedes-c-class-recall-over-steering-problem ATB, Trevor
  21. Ken, I will probably be battered into submission (and she can go on, it is all part of her illness) . But in all fairness there are worse things to be pestered over, and it does look pretty impressive. She wants it as well as the Jag, not instead of by the way. ATB, Trevor
  22. Ken, Of course, we take that as read down here , and caravans, but at least tractors will pull over to let you pass . ATB, Trevor
  23. Peter, Do you think I don't use that word (and in stronger terms, usually two words) ? Don't forget she is manic depressive, and if she wants something she doesn't any reason why she shouldn't have it . She just tends to forget i'm boss at times ! ATB, Trevor
  24. Glyn, Why didn't you pop in to Ilfracombe and see me? we could have hated cyclists together ! My retirement is also going well apart from i've been told my pension is to be means tested . ATB, Trevor
  25. Ken, Mercs have had a lot of trouble with the new C class though . The wife wants one of these next year ( she always wants something) http://www.romansinternational.com/news-article/365/mercedes-enter-new-territory-with-the-amg-gt ATB, Trevor
