  1. Ray, Sounds pricey, don't let a stealership put a new motor in for you, try an independent, or even get the bit yourself, have you tried Ebay, is it something like this ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2054897.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.X2009+JAGUAR+XF+window+motor&_nkw=2009+JAGUAR+XF+window+motor&_sacat=0 ATB, Trevor
  2. Gavin, I had Michelin Pilot Super sport on both my XKR and XJ Supersport, and found them to excellent, even on the cart tracks in Devon ! ATB, Trevor
  3. Amthony, I agree, the two things I hate about most so called "modern" cars is the lack of a spare wheel in preference to that tin of gunk (does anyone ever use it, or just call out the breakdown services?) and a dipstick. ATB, Trevor
  4. Neville, Which ones are annoying you? ATB, Trevor
  5. Peter, Is the "beep" on the bicycle, the tandem, or the Jag ? ATB, Trevor
  6. Paul, Sorry to hear about your troubles. got rid of my XKR because it started giving trouble giving trouble.Called breakdown out twice in two days, then had to wait a month for the part. Not what i expected from a £50K car, The dealership and jaguar were no help whatsoever . So and independent garage would seem to be your best bet. Have a look at this link, there might be something near you. Hope you get it sorted shortly http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/topic/7304-recommended-independent-garages/ Here are some I found also, don't know what they're like though. http://www.sterlingjaguar.co.uk/jaguar_repairs_gloucester.php http://www.swallowsjaguar.com/ http://www.ebeepbeep.com/car-servicing.aspx/gloucestershire/cheltenham/jaguar ATB, Trevor
  7. James/Trevor, Warning lights staying on are usually a battery fault, or can be cured by disconnecting the battery for ten minutes. Must admit I haven't had any problems with the fuel cap refusing to open, or the air conditioning . The sat nav I always found fine. but a few others don't seem to like it. The only downside I found was the computer system, which needs to be improved, but the XF is a really good car. The one thing I would recommend is to find yourself a really good independent garage for servicing . ATB, Trevor
  8. Dan, I was very wary about paddle shift and vowed I'd never use it . The firsdt time I had to go to a job in Minehead via up and down Porlock Hill, I was bricking it to say the least . But it all worked out fine . I have now had six cars since, all with paddle shift . I have got used to it and it would seem strange to use any other system now, I use it al the time in m manual mode, and it seems like second nature . Not a fan of diesels myself , but the courtesy car I was lent was a XF Portfolio 3.0 litre which went fine, it was that which made me decide my next car was a Jag (had an Aston DB9 at the time) ATB, Trevor Good to see you got your car sorted though, that is the main thing
  9. Luks, I had 20" wheels on both my XJ Supersport and XKR, and they were fine, and also looked good. Some people reckon they give a harsher ride, but I never had a problem, and the cart tracks here in Devon leave a lot to be desired ! ATB, Trevor
  10. Gary, My XKR didn't even have a temperature gauge , so I wouldn't worry about it . ATB, Trevor
  11. Cannot understand all the problems with the sat nav. Mine was excellent in both my XJ Supersport and XKR (both 2012) no problems at all , and I live in the sticks! ATB, Trevor
  12. Louisa, The Spacestar is being a tad extreme young lady ! ATB, Trevor x
  13. Louisa, It sounds like you need a new battery, check the one you have first, or see if you can borrow one to see if it fixes the problem. But a lot of niggling things point to a failing battery. I would check that first ATB, Trevor x
  14. Peter, But at least they look like a Jag ! ATB, Trevor
  15. Peter, The backrests in my XJ Supersport and XKR were both heated. ATB, Trevor
  16. Tony, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6wmxRv003Q ATB, Trevor
  17. Tony, I hope so, cannot understand why there should be a problem though, my USB sticks worked fine on both my XJ Supersport and XKR (both 2012). A USB stick is far better than CD's though. If you need any music at all just let me know, as I have loads (retired music researcher) ATB, Trevor
  18. Tony. Only last week someone had the same problem , this was my reply, which he said worked. If labelled correctly they should appear in alphabetical order . But I found this, which might be useful : http://www.anerty.ne...e/DriveSort.php ATB, Trevor
  19. Declan, I love speed, the older I get, the worse I get (I'm 65, and the longest haired pensioner in the South West !) Cannot be doing with sluggish or dinky toy cars . Will be able to test out the AMG in manic mode shortly on the A303 early morning when I go to Guildford to see some music . When my XKR was in being fixed ,( it ended up stopping there because I couldn't bothered waiting a month for the part), I was lent a Vauxhall Insignia estate, and it was devils fuel!, the most shocking car I have ever driven . This wasn't the dealerships fault by the way, Jag breakdown didn't tell them I was coming, and they had to sort me something quick ATB, Trevor
  20. Stan, I'm not the only one on these boards to be disillusioned by Jaguar's customer relations, and their dealerships . I was also a big fan of Aston Martin until I owned a couple . At the end of the day they are just bits of metal to serve a purpose . In the past four years i've owned two BMW's, two Aston Martins, and two Jags, and the return for the amount of money spent has been very poor . My present car i've only done 500 miles in , so can't really comment on it, apart from it seems very well built, and is very quick . As long as everyone is happy with their car, that is all that matters really . ATB, Trevor
  21. James, Peter says a lot of good things about that Terraclean process. Not fond of supermarkets full stop. Tesco sacked a friend of mine on Thursday for wearing purple nail varnish , and yet expected it's workers to work in cold conditions over Christmas when the heating broke down for four days . But big companies do what they want these days (Jaguar included) . ATb, Trevor
  22. James, Don;t know about the devil's fuel, but i've been told by various mechanics never to use supermarket fuel in decent engines, as they lack the additives . But it seems logical, supermarkets sell inferior meat, fruit , and veg, so why not fuel? For a few pence I'm not going to risk it , nearest supermarket selling fuel is 17 miles away anyhow. ATB, Trevor
  23. Chris, Use a transmitter which plays music from phones and MP3 players via the radio on a spare frequency . Used one on an old Mondeo and it worked really well You can get them really cheap( they even sell them in Tesco) . Here is an example on Amazon (just search car transmitters ) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-iTrip-Auto-Transmitter-Charger-BLACK/dp/B000BWACX2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1420811725&sr=8-3&keywords=griffin+car+transmitter ATB, Trevor
  24. Declan, Now take it down the A303 early doors and open up the taps ! ATB, Trevor
  25. Trevor, Don't give the wife ideas ! Other good stuff in the same garage also . http://www.joemacari.com/All-Cars-for-Sale/ ATB, Trevor
