Tom, Good call. But you can buy the diagnostic readers for about 25 pounds . ATB, Trevor

Peter, The way I see it, if you want good quality meat you go to the butchers, if you want good quality fruit and veg ( not applicable up T' North) you go to a greengrocers, if you want good quality petrol you go to a reliable independent garage . Supermarkets sell all these things, but are inferior quality . ATB, Trevor
-
Charlie, Not that it really applies to me anyway as the nearest supermarket that sells petrol is 17 miles away anyhow . Also, the petrol in North Devon is dearer than in London ! ATB, Trevor P.S. Unless you go to our local supermarket early doors ( which I always do, and thankfully don.t buy much in the places) they are usually rammed with herds of holiday makers .
-
I agree with Peter, Supermarket fuel is inferior as it doesn't contain the additives , you certainly notice the difference in performance. Ask any mechanic, or just Google it. ATB, Trevor

Stephen, Welcome, hope you enjoy the club, they are always gentle here even to me, the token southerner . I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the XF, I borrowed a couple and was well impressed ! Yours being fairly new should be trouble free, the XF's are a wonderful car ! Here is a review so you can tease yourself . http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Drives/Search-Results/Long-term-tests/Jaguar-XF-22D-2012-long-term-test-review/ ATB, Trevor ( Yokel)

Peter, You are right, it has to be reset by the diagnostic machine ( or a computer with the relevant software) . Same thing happened to me after a service and they had to pop it on the machine to get rid of the message, it takes seconds . That is another yarn the dealerships peddle, that they are the only ones who can do this. This is not true as most independent garages have the software required for various makes of car . Someone on this site has all the software and uses a computer to do the above and other stuff. This is the software you need (readily available on the net if you know where to look) IDS SDD Land Rover/Jaguar v135 (Data 24.01.2014) | 10.66 GB ATB, Trevor

Ben, Welcome and I hope you enjoy the forum . One quick question, why is your car parked on a Devon style road? ATB, Trevor (token southerner)

Who makes the super performance calipers?
knightsmith replied to crozy1's topic in Jaguar F-Type Club
Paul, One each colour. Joking aside, on my Aston Martin they were black, and on my XKR they are red . I must say I prefer the red . Why not just some enamel paint and paint them the same colour as the car body? ATB, Trevor -
Could someone please advice me of the best place to sell my XJS
knightsmith replied to Adamcf's topic in Jaguar Classic Club
Adam, Shame you have to sell the car, why not try Autotrader? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/ ATB, Trevor -
Who makes the super performance calipers?
knightsmith replied to crozy1's topic in Jaguar F-Type Club
Paul, Found this link, but what is wrong with the ones you have? http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-T2R9303 and here is the Brembo site, no mention of the F Type though http://www.brembo.com/en/car/original-equipment/products/Pages/Calipers.aspx ATB, Trevor -
Roger, Welcome to the club, nice motor, it is in gangster white like my XJ Supersport was ( think it's called Polaris white) Not sure how to about the reversing camera ( I find mine a Godsend) But i presume you need something like this , it's an American site unfortunately) http://www.smartauto24.com/reverse-camera-for-jaguar-xj-xf-902 This might be of some help also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndZpw4U6Iyw This Ebay link might shed some light on things also: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xjaguar+xf+reversing+camera&_nkw=jaguar+xf+reversing+camera&_sacat=0&_from=R40 ATB, Trevor

Peter/Simon, Oh well not to worry, it isn't the end of the world. Being brought up in Wales is where I got my love of rugby from, and I still follow Newport to this day. ATB, Trevor
-
Simon, Welsh? I was brought up in the valleys (Risca), but as my mother didn't want me to be born Welsh I had the misfortune of being born in Liverpool where her mother lived . ATB, Trevor
-
Simon, I would be very surprised it it hasn't , you sure it wasn't just turned off? And I'm sure if my Jag can mange Exmoor yours will manage up T' North ( not being insulting by the way, it's a standing joke with Peter and myself) . ATB, Trevor.
-
Simon, Welcome, I'm sure you'll find the Jag most enjoyable . Are you sure yours doesn't have front parking sensors? I would have thought it would have been standard for that year. But if not it won't be any great problem I'm sure . Don't worry about winter driving, in fact don' t worry full stop ! The peeps on here are a friendly lot and will give help whenever possible. ATB, Trevor (one of the token southerners)
-
Dan. Welcome, you will find peeps a friendly bunch on here . You will eventually find the answers to the questions you've asked I'm sure . ATB, Trevor (from the deep south)

Charlie, It is the wife who always buys me cars for my birthday, I like the XKR a great deal, The reason i didn't get the F Type was because the F Type R they had was £94K, and it really doesn't look that much different to the XKR . I have lost loads in the last couple of years, including £15K in eight months on the XJ Supersport as 'er indoors decided she didn't like it after all. Having the final work done on the house after the floods earlier this year, that's going to be another £4K, so i'm being sensible for a bit now . But saying that, I might buy an F Type in a couple of years, i'll see how it goes . ATB, Trevor
-
Charlie, I couldn't agree more . The treatment I have had from the Jaguar/Aston Martin stealership in Exeter is nothing short of disgraceful after the amount of money i've spent with them over the last two years . It has got to the stage where they don;t speak to me any more; they are a bunch of con merchants , and I told them to their face , I got similar treatment from the BMW franchise in Barnstaple . I have bought a total of six cars from these garages, the cheapest being £38K, the dearest £64K . All paid for in cash by instant bank transfer Other people I know have had similar trouble with Ford and Vauxhall dealerships. I bought an ex dem BMW M3 convertible from the Barnstaple dealer for £55K cash . With the medication the wife takes, she has to take great care in the sun as she burns very badly very quickly . I asked the salesman if she could have a baseball cap, he said she could have one at cost price ! , I really could not believe what he had said . I will only use the dealership for any problem that crops up under the warranty, I am getting the car serviced by the independent garage that used to do all my previous cars . Any car I buy or sell in future I will do through him. I will never use a dealership again ! ATB, Trevor
-
Charlie, Perhaps it's something to do with it being colder up there . Never had a problem with the XKR either, or any other car. Maybe i've just been lucky ( there again I did once own a Vauxhall!). Saying that , Jag do clear themselves in the handbook saying it is "natural and is caused by changes in enviromental conditions and is not detrimental to lamp performance and will clear during normal usage" . But as I said, it isn't something i've come across . ATB, Trevor
-
Charlie, Didn't have any problem with condensation in the rear lights of my XJ , and we were under water for about three months in the South West . ATB, Trevor
-
Anthony, It was Exhaust manifold, paintwork , and loose trim . But his main problem was the arrogance of the garage . But as I said , my XJ Supersport was brilliant , it was a Jag directors car they offered me after they mangled my Aston Martin . It was too big for the Devon roads and there are only two of us . But saying that I would recommend one without hesitation . It had every conceivable extra going including three TV's and a 1200 watt 20 speaker audio system , cannot fault it in any way . Here are the pics . http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/gallery/album/98-jaguar-xj-supersport/ ATB, Trevor

Peter, Cannot understand why you should have problems logging on . Peter has gone to the rugby today and will be back later . Here are his details , send him a PM , he is most helpful . http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/user/4237-old-peter/ To be going on with why not have a look through this topic, which is a list of independent garages people have recommended to see if there are any near you . http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/topic/7304-recommended-independent-garages/ I'm sure he will be able to assist you if you PM him, but as I said he will be back later. ATB, Trevor

Charlie, I go shopping once a week ( on my own), why do you need to go every day? 'er indoors doesn't have any input at all . If she wants clothes, jewellery or other stuff I either get it on the internet for her, or drop her at the specific shops . In all fairness, she has bought me the last six cars . Glad the head is better, you should have been out with me at 5-30 this morning in the thunder with 'er dog, that would have cleared your head! ATB, Trevor
-
Charlie, I meant to say the sat nav disc was for Steve, he lives in Cornwall, and they need all the help they can get. Walk instead of using the Vauxhall, just to prove a point. ATB, Trevor

Kevin, The X Type looks in fab condition , as you said at 26000 it is barely run in, probably with it's original tank full of fuel ! You will get another Jag one day . ATB, Trevor
