Keith, My friend recently paid £30K for an XJ, he said " mines been back to jag twice in 5 weeks so getting a bit pi**ed off with it now. Exhaust manifold paintwork loose trim ! I'm asking for my money back if it goes in again. 30k is a lot of money to me." He bought it on the strength of me praising the XJ Supersport I used to have, quite embarrassing really ! But saying that, I really have been very impressed with the build quality of both of my Jags, but both of them have been ex directors cars so might have had preferential treatment . ATB, Trevor

Steve, Enjoyed it immensely , we went to see a young American Guitarist called Ryan McGarvey, who has to bee seen to be believed . PM me you address and I shall pop them in the post tomorrow . I drove straight back after the gig as one doesn't want to be driving into the West Country on a Saturday morning via the M5 car park ! This is a clip of the gig, if you like the Seekers you wont like him ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXFZZLWPLg0&list=UUOPQaTkqS5UiA20zaCSPL_Q#t=27 ATB, Trevor -
Randy, Welcome to the club , I'm sure you will enjoy your Jag, any problems you get can usually be sorted out here . I have a friend , and I promise you this is true, who's name is Randy Love . ATB, Trevor

Dan, Also found this , don't know if it's of any use, but i hope so : Select Phone Mode (if not already selected). Use touch-screen keypad to enter the following digit sequence and press the Send/End button. The following sequence performs exactly the same function, but times-out after approximately five minutes, ##1#*#. (If you are not familiar with the Pairing process, this sequence is NOT Recommended, because of the time-out period.) At the SIG**** screen the vehicle system is waiting for communication with a Bluetooth equipped telephone. Check that your mobile phone is set to theJaguar Bluetooth system, using the menu functions on the phone. Refer to the handbook that was supplied with your specific mobile phone. When Jaguar device is found on the mobile phone display, the phone will prompt you to enter the pass key (1313) on the mobile phone keypad. When the above operation has been completed and the phone is successfully Paired and connected with the vehicle system, the SIG* screen will be displayed. ATB, Trevor
-
Dan, In my handbook it says. 1: Start the bluetooth search function on your mobile phone 2: Your phone will list any bluetooth devices found, select Jaguar from the list 3: Now enter bluetooth PIN1313 into your mobile phone The phone should now pair and dock to the vehicle system ATB, Trevor
-
Dan, Are you sure it isn't the phone that is at fault, have you tried a different one ? Mine paired easily, as did the wifes . ATB, Trevor

Peter, My first automatic was a BMW 320 M sports which i bought just before I retired as music researcher three years ago . As it was being explained to me my thoughts were "I've got to work in Minehead tonight, that means up and down Porlock Hill (the steepest "A" road in the country) and coming home over Exmoor in the dark" I was very apprehensive to say the least . When the salesman explained I could use the paddle shift instead that didn't allay my fears, I just couldn't see me using them . But to cut a long story short I don't know why I was worried , it was remarkably easy . I love using the paddle shift on the XKR, and use them all the time, I think the days of the gear leaver are are nearly over , I would even prefer to use mine in fully automatic mode to a manual box now . You will get the old school that will say "but you can change gear quicker manually" , this might have been true years ago, but i don't think it is any more . I know your wife doesn't like the XF because it isn't manual Charlie , but explain to her that modern cars don;t have cassette players in them either . ATB, Trevor

Jonathan, Welcome to the club, the S type is fab isn't it ?it's one of my favourite looking Jags . If you need any help there is usually someone on here with the knowledge to send you in the right direction . Was down your way on Friday as my daughter lives in Croydon ( I don't know why either) , and I went to see some music in Sutton . ATB, Trevor

Peter, It isn't the caravaners that cause the hold ups on the M5. the jam was all the way from Exeter to Bristol yesterday, it is just the volume of holiday makers in general, and most come on Saturday mornings as it's change over day. But caravans in general really are a nuisance down here as the roads are just not suitable for them . But saying that, the tractors, horses, cyclists , and the yokels who just can't drive don't help matters either . Charlie, I felt the same about automatics, but I wouldn't have it any other way now, and especially the paddle shift which I vowed I would never use . Let the wife drive an XF and she'll want one, after all, it's got to be better than the vauxhall . Why do you need two cars anyway? The best answer is to sell both, get an XKR for yourself, and a bus pass for the wife ATB, Trevor

Playing movies from USB
knightsmith replied to Poi man's topic in Jaguar Audio / Video / Electronics / Security Systems
Ian, I would say it probably takes that log to read the USB stick ,if I renew the music on my USB stick it take a while to read it the first time. How long does it take from DVD disc? ATB, Trevor -
Charlie, No need to upgrade, The XK is a fab car in itself . Also, you should have known better than let the wife choose the car, and especially a Vauxhall, surely you could have picked her up a cheap XF? The car ran fab down to London Village for the gig on Friday, I drove straight back afterwards ( 450 mile round trip) . The reason I did so was because Saturday is change over day for the holiday makers and you really don't want to be driving down to the West Country on a Saturday morning as the M5 is more like a car park ( the A303 isn't much better) . ATB, Trevor
-
John and Sue . All the very best to the both of you again . http://www.telegraph.co.uk/luxury/motoring/23361/jaguar-xk-the-thinking-man%E2%80%99s-jag.html ATB and good luck in your new life, Trevor x

Charlie, We had 400 of the blooming things parked up last Saturday due to an accident ! and loads more on the way down this morning ( that's why I avoided the M5 and used the A 303) . Leslie is from Somerset so he knows what I'm on about . But the XF's are fab Leslie Charlie, this will interest you; I have the Dynamic R http://www.telegraph.co.uk/luxury/motoring/23361/jaguar-xk-the-thinking-man%E2%80%99s-jag.html ATB, Trevor

Leslie, I might add that in the last three years I have had two BMW's, Two Aston Martins, and two jags , have test driven Mercedes and Audi, and in my opinion the Jags are head and shoulders above the rest . There must be a reason for vastly increased sales and a swelling workforce. If the Jags were unreliable surely this wouldn't be the case . The two XF's I borrowed while the Astons were in their favourite haunt, the workshop were the XF 3 litre diesel, which was superb (and i cannot stand diesels), and the XFR-S which was the five litre supercharged engine best suited for the sort of people who get caught doing 52 MPH on a tandem ! . It was after driving these that I made my mind up my next car would be a Jag, I have now had two, and can honestly sat that I cannot see myself buying another make of car ! ATB, Trevor
-
Leslie, I have borrowed three ( i now have a XKR) , I think they are fab. They have come top for the last two or three years for customer satisfaction , and it is easy to see why. Why not go on this report instead? http://newsroom.jaguarlandrover.com/en-in/jaguar/news/2014/05/jag_jd_power_whatcar_release_290514/ ATB, Trevor

Steve, As i've said (above) you're more than welcome to borrow mine if you think they'll be of any use (details in my post above) Of to London Village now and won't be back until tomorrow, so won't be able to reply until then ATB, Trevor -
Roy, Well you must be lucky that's all I can say ! most dealerships ., not just jaguar , charge well over the top for both parts and labour , and if they were so good independent garages would not exist . Of course they give my wife flowers, and sweets, and make coffee and wash the car;but who do you think pays for it? I am not alone in my thinking, other people, not only on this forum will tell you what a rip of they are . I now get my jag serviced superbly at a trustworthy independent garage knowing that I'm not being taken for a ride . To me that is REAL service, at a fraction of the cost, and I haven't got to make a 140 mile round trip to get my head filled with nonsense and lies . ATB, Trevor
-
Mick, Fab result ! just imagine how much that would have cost you at the stealership ? ATB, Trevor
-
Roy, Welcome to the club, I used to live in Hampshire myself, (Alton), and both of my children where born there. I agree, as a retired music researcher , good quality music in a car is a must ! Didn't realise people still used CD's though . Living in Devon one has to travel to see decent music a lot of the time (although we do have the excellent Two Moors Festival), that's why I'm off to London village in the XKR tomorrow . ATB, Trevor
-
Mick, Couldn't you fine a mechanic that is cheaper than the main dealer , they try to give you all the old B******S that they're indispensable, but I can promise you they're not . We have a list of recommended independent garages somewhere on the site (can't remember where, sorry) . i'm sure there must be one near you. ATB, Trevor
