  1. Peter, I prefer the old design Jags to the new ones, the wife never liked the look of the XJ Supersport, that's why she forced e to get the XKR ATB, Trevor
  2. Keith, Excellent ! don't forget to up a picture. ATB, Trevor
  3. Richard, A very well known band from westcliff - On-Sea (now retired) widely regarded as the best live act in the country . ATB, Trevor P.S. I'm not a geek, just a retired music researcher
  4. Mick, The three toes of the people down here are indeed webbed ! ATB, Trevor
  5. Richard, I presume you like the Hamsters then . ATB, Trevor
  6. Mick, Two feet of water? we call that a touch of damp ! ATB, Trevor
  7. Peter, Ok you've convinced me, I'll keep the ones I have. "Raining hard" that is just a light mist ? Richard, had a new BMW 3 M sports convertible, and a new BMW M3 convertible, and the Jags are miles better than those also . ATB, Trevor ( I know what proper rain is)
  8. You northerners don't know what real rain is, it's more like the tide coming down here. what are your opinions on wire wheels? I have always liked them, but wondered if they're worth the expense . ATB, Trevor
  9. Peter, Will get my owners sticker on the XKR as soon as it stops raining ! ATB, Trevor
  10. Richard, That's what I tell peeps also, but they just won't believe the car is better than the Aston Martins I owned, but it is, in so many ways . Truly fantastic cars ! ATB, Trevor
  11. Good lad, it has to be done, I'm sure you'll find the car fab ! ATB, Trevor
  12. Peter, She is a woman, so won't be told, she is the only Tory voter to have come from Bolton, and the only Tory voter ever in the teaching profession. The XF would be a perfect car for them . But I will relay what you said young man, but I don't think she'll like it . ATB, Trevor
  13. Peter and Richard, I have told him this, but I think his wife is one not to argue with, she even makes him go to the ballet, and in Birmingham, so no chance of manning up! The recent jags even have reversing cameras, so yes they are really easy to park , but his wife, being female, is never wrong obvioulsy. I will mention about you TT Richard, but his wife hates southerners, me most of all I think Besides, they dither so much that the TT will be an XX by the time they get round to it . ATB, Trevor
  14. Richard Still prefer my XKR , and my XJ Supersport was fast for a large car, both 510 BHP. I nearly bought the XFR-S last year, but the garage were too greedy, that was 550BHP But as for the TT, it's his wife who has the say, and he'll get the one with the dinky toy engine as it does more MPG .He said his budget is £20K, but as I said to him, you can get one hell of a a Jag for £20K ! But he is Canadian, living in North Wales, and married to a retired Northern teacher, so all hope is lost really. Do you live near Rayleigh ? ( my sister lives there) ATB, Trevor
  15. Richard, I've have passed on you thoughts, but his main drawback is that he's under the thumb, his wife is a retired northern teacher ( didn't realise they had schools up there) from Bolton, so he could just be frightened ! ATB, trevor
  16. Peter, we have the occasional road mixed in with the potholes down here . I couldn't believe they had potholes on the M5 though ! ATB, Trevor
  17. Peter, i only use cruise control on the big roads also . When I was picking up the car on Monday I was talking to the young Aston Martin salesman, he now has a Jag, a 2003 X type I think, or it could be one like yours, can't really remember . He said it had done 85000, and he got it for less than a £1000 form a chap who was part exchanging . He said it is a tad juicy, but he really likes it, and his young children think it is wonderful . ATB, Trevor
  18. Brian, The XF is fab isn't it? it was borrowing one that made my mind up that my next car after the Aston Martin would be a Jag . MPG isn't my main concern, but until recently I had always looked upon cruise control with distrust and thought it unsafe. It was only about three weeks ago I started using it just before I got rid of the XJ Supersport and got the XKR. Both cars have adaptive cruise control which also does the braking and accelerating , and keeps the car in front at a safe distance . I have noticed using the adaptive cruise control the MPG is better. I even got over 30MPG in the XKR driving it home from the stealership earlier in the week, albeit only 70 miles. ATB, Trevor
  19. Richard, I shall pass on your comments to my friend about the Audi TT. he has just retired and wants a Jag XF , his wife claims she won't be able to park it and wants a TT. On the ride and wheel size. My XKR has 20 " wheels and the ride seems slightly harder on the cart tracks her in Devon than my XJ Supersport which had 19" wheels. Do bigger wheels generally give a harder ride ? ATB, Trevor
  20. Mick, My local garage doesn't seem to have any problems with the computerised stuff ,and can reset the service lights and diagnose easily, they also have all the software which is easily available off the internet . Another friend of mine also has a garage a few miles away, where he specalises in Aston Martins, Ferrari's, Porche, and other high end cars at a fraction of the cost of the stealerships . Both garages carry out diagnostics and repairs without any problems. I think it is just the stealerships that think they are indispensable . I shall only be using mine for warranty work, anything else and i'll be using one of the garages mentioned. ATB, Trevor
  21. Glad you all seemed to enjoy yourself at the meeting and good amount of money was raised for a very good cause. Obviously the meeting was "abroad" for us Devon folk, but pleased you all had a great time and Peter stunned you all with his white flat cap. ATB, Trevor
  22. Charlie, The insurance was £16 a year more than the Supersport, £341. ATB, Trevor
  23. Charlie, I give them stick, that's why they don't like me. But I do pay on the dot. I might speak my mind, but they could do with more customers like me . They should treat me decently (as they should do with all customers) from the offset. As I said to the manager, " Just take a step back and work out who pays your wages" ATB, Trevor
  24. Charlie, I couldn't agree more, detest them with a venom. Although a dealership salesman bought my XKR from a dealer's auction for me, i told them I'm not using them for servicing or anything else apart from warranty stuff . They do not like me at all , they don't like their cages rattled or a few home truths; a few manners wouldn't go amiss either . My XKR is going to be serviced by a reliable honest garage which I had been using for years prior to me dealings with the stealership . I was speaking to a chap who works for Europarts in Tesco the other day, he said the mark up on parts the dealerships have is phenomenal But I hope all is sorted . ATB, Trevor P,S, Did you see the pics of the XKR in the gallery ?
  25. Pics of said car http://www.jaguarownersclub.com/forums/gallery/album/129-jaguar-xkr-2012/ ATB, Trevor
