  1. Trevor, Not with South West Water's charges you wouldn't ! ATB, Trevor
  2. Trevor, What do you mean " Go back to steam " ? ; Peter and myself have never left it ! Our 1908 Stanley steam car at the Devon County Show ( Peter had to get a visa to attend) ATB, Trevor
  3. Peter, just been out and petrol is 109.9p a litre here, the cheapest it's been since 1923 . ATB, Trevor
  4. Peter, I agree, big road users should bear the brunt . You can have a small engined car and use it lots every day or a 5 litre XKR that just get used at weekends for a spin out . Main difference is that the XKR would be £500 in road tax . ATB, Trevor
  5. Stan, Being in God's waiting room and living in the sticks makes my insurance cheap, but I don't really see why I should have to pay more road tax than a lot of other people who do more miles than me . Putting it on the fuel would be the fairest way . So being perverse I bought a car with a 6.3 litre engine . ATB, Trevor
  6. Kenny, What stereo system is yours please ? mine was Bowers and Wilkins which I found a tad disappointing in the XKR , but excellent in the XJ Superpsort (mind you t was a 1200 watt 20 speaker system) . ATB, Trevor
  7. Trevor, Mine cost £500 a year, as did the XKR, and the XJ Supersport . They claim it's for emissions, but you could have a car with half the emissions of mine, but drive it a lot more. It is just an excuse to coin it in . Diesels will be the next to take a hammering ATB, Trevor
  8. Trevor, True about your comment about the fuel . Another government scam is the one where you buy a new car with a decent engine in they charge a £1000 for the first years road tax . ATB, Trevor
  9. Peter, The only time I ever go into the bank (a mile away and a devil to park) is to ay in road tax refunds, I do all my banking online, and have not written a cheque for over three years . I get plenty of excercise taking the wife's dog on a three mile walk every morning at 5-30 . ATB, Trevor
  10. Trevor, Peter is my favourite northerner ! ATB, Trevor ( Hendrix is my real name by the way)
  11. Peter, And why do they deal in cheques these days? means messing about going to the bank. It's about time they put it all on the fuel anyhow ATB, Trevor
  12. Trevor, I had to wait longer than that in May when I sold my XJ Superpsort and got the XKR . Sold the XKR under the new tax system ten days ago, haven't got a refund yet ( but to be fair not really expecting it this side of Christmas ) . But I agree with you, if they can now take the money instantly, why can't they do the same with repayment ? ATB, Trevor (the old one)
  13. With my XJ Supersport ( 2012)I liked the comfort, TV's, speed. 20 speaker 1200 watt audio system, and sheer luxury . Downside, it was pig ugly, and too big for the Devon roads . With my XKR 5 litre supercharged (2012) , I liked the colour, the acceleration ,and the admiring glances . Downside; Having to call out the breakdown services twice in two days, and Jaguar not being able to get the (German made) part this side of Christmas . Being lied to by the dealership , and the sheer arrogance of the customer relations people at Jaguar themselves . ATB, Trevor
  14. Peter, I still have ! ATB, Trevor
  15. John, You could have bought my XKR, sold it last week. ATB, Trevor
  16. Welcome gary, I would say the problem is nothing to worry about. I presume you have tried the spare key, if so, the eliminates a dodgy battery in the key fob. The next thing I would do is disconnect the battery for ten minutes, this allows everything to reset itself . If the problem still persists, I would check the state of the battery itself , the strange " happenings" can often occur when the battery is on the wane . But do not despair, the problem is obviously trivial, and the XF is a fine car that will give you much pleasure . ATB, Trevor
  17. Been with mine 35 years, haven't got the slightest idea when the anniversary is though. Don't go in for that sort of stuff . Did take her here for what I thought was her 25th, but got the year wrong, it was only 24 (but seemed longer). This would be a good place for a meet, Aston Martin had theirs there http://www.boveycastle.com/ ATB, Trevor
  18. Kenny, My youngest was a teacher in Brighton, she then moved to San Francisco and Married a lad called Jessie. Should I be worried ? I do like Brighton though ATB, Trevor
  19. Sean, I don't think there seems to be any particular problems with them. They (as most more recent Jags) seem to benefit from a decent battery, Why not go for the 5 litre XKR ( although I think the year(s) you want to get will be the 4.2 engine)? this really pees the Aston Martin owners off ! I think the XK is a cracking looking car , and along with the S type is the best looking out of all the Jags in my opinion , and shouldn't give you any trouble. Something like this would be a cracking car , this is just an example from an expensive garage. http://www.grange.co.uk/used-car-details/jaguar-xkr/supercharged-portfolio-limited-edition-42-automatic-3-door-coupe-2008/hertfordshire/?regno=JW205_82119&make=Jaguar&model=XK&makeSB=Jaguar&modelSB=XK ATB, Trevor
  20. Kenny, Lets keep on the cautious side and stick with the AMG GT . This used to be my local "Toy Shop" when I worked in Pirbright in Surrey, it has since moved up the road . http://www.romansinternational.com/ ATB, Trevor
  21. Kenny, Don't get me wrong I really like the doors, but I would think they would be tremendously restrictive, even more so on the ones in the Lambo and Mclaren , especially trying to park in a car park. ATB, Trevor
  22. Kenny, Go for the SLR or the SLS. The thing that puts me off them is the doors though ATB, Trevor
  23. Phil, Mark my words, they are very restrictive indeed. I am surprised it is allowed, that's how bad it is ATB, Trevor
  24. Kenny, Never lose sleep over anything, as I don't sleep much, and yes, the Aston's are junk, and I did lose a lot of money over them. But at least it's one thing I can tick off, if I'd never owned one I would still want one . It's all part of life. ATB, Trevor
  25. Kenny, Nearly bought the three litre version F type , but got the 5 litre XKR instead as it was faster. I was going to wait for the 5 litre F Type, but things move on, and I'll have a look at the AMG GT next year when it's out, or might just get a newer AMG saloon, but I shall see . ATB, Trevor
