  1. I did what Stan did, or should I say the stealership did it for me, just paired the phone to the car's bluetooth system. Not that i ever use it as I can't stand the things . Saw a very strange sight yesterday, I saw a teenage girl walking down the road not texting ! ATB, Trevor
  2. Didn't have that problem down this way, and both the roads in the West Country are now water free, so things are looking up ! . But I hope all that pollution goes away before I come up T' North a week on Thursday. ATB, Trevor
  3. Quite like Oxford, my daughter used to cox a few of the boat crews there when she was at Uni, she was known as "Hitler of the River ". ATB, Trevor
  4. Welcome Margaret , Hope you enjoy the forum, in my yonuger days I actually ran away to Coventry with my (now) wife, the only time she's ever been up T' north ! If you need any help just ask, there is always someone who knows the answer. ATB, Trevor ( does Coventry want the wife back ?) x
  5. I was lent the XF 3 litre diesel by the stealership which I was quite impressed with (apart from me not liking diesels, i'm also biased) . But saying that both cars sound really good . Welcome to the club . ATB, Trevor
  6. Dear Peter, I agree about style, that's why i think I still prefer the old style Jags to mine , also, the Astons had style, but that's where it ended . . Caravans ! the bane of the Wesr Country, we cannot move for them in the Summer, we even build hotels for peeps, but they still insist on clogging up our roads with them. I don't have to ask the wife for a pay rise, she is the one who's always ecouraging me to buy different cars, and has bought me a new one for my birthday for the last four years (it's a good job I win most months on the premium bonds !). She is pestering me to get the F type Coupe when it comes out, but if I get one it will be next year when the first MOT is due on this XJ, and they will be a bit more of a sensible price . ATB, Trevor
  7. Welcome Michael, hope you find the forum to your liking . Don't have your problem with Facebook, as the Facebook police have banned me again, not that it's any great loss. ATB, Trevor
  8. Peter, Yet again I agree, another gripe is the extortionate prices the stealerships charge also for servicing and the like. ATB, Trevor
  9. Peter, I agree, i've never had a car that's done more than 25 mpg , and it's only the last five that have been "sporty jobs" . but MPG isn't the first thing I look for in a car anyhow , and being an old boy the insurance is a lot cheaper than most peeps, so i'm not restricted on what vehicle I have to buy . The only thing that grates is having to pay more road tax, I think it should be done on miles travelled and should be added to the fuel price ATB, Trevor (dry at last !)
  10. Mick, It used to belong to one of the jaguar directors , and was lent to me when my Aston Martin DB9 was run into by another customer doing exstensive damage when it was in the stealership for a service. . I liked it so much they said I could keep in in exchange for the Aston, which is good as it is ten times the car , and faster I use the power mainly for overtaking. ATB, Trevor
  11. Nigel, Welcome, hope you find the forum to your liking , all the peeps seem to be friendly here . I have DAB radio as standard im my XJ and really like it, it is definately the way to go, so I think you should be very succesful with your antenna buisiness, i wish you all the best with it . As a retired music researcher I obviousy like music a great deal, and the car also came fitted with a Bowers and Wilkins 1200 watt 20 speaker audio system, which i'm well pleased with. Not too fond of CD's though , so i use a memory stick for all my recorded music . If you need any help with anything, just ask there is usually someone who knows how to get round the problem. ATB, Trevor ( The old one)
  12. I get 26 MPG on a run, and with the short trips it averages out at 22 MPG , but I knew that when I bought it, and it is a 5 litre, 510 BHP supercharged engine after all. But I still think it is a cracking car ! ATB, Trevor
  13. Peter, Shall I bring you some of the red stuff up when I come up north in a couple of weeks ? ATB, Trevor
  14. Paul. Google " world health organisation and diesel fuel" .Another reason why i don's like diesels , and the fact they sound like a London routmaster . If your last petrol jag was so good, what on earth made you buy a diesel ? ATB, Trevor ( Been dazed and confused for so long it's not true) .
  15. Paul, Not good news, but I hope you get it sorted shortly . I'm not a huge fan of diesel engines myself, cannot stand the smell of them. Give me petrol engine any day of the week . ATB, Trevor
  16. Peter, Used to go to Pontlanffraith (probably wrong spelling) Grammar school near Blackwood . The reason that I had the misfortune of being born in Liverpoool was because my mother was living there when she was pregnant with me, and wanted me to be born English, so went to her mothers in Liverpool . ATB, Trevor
  17. Peter, The Northerners down this way are in no way representative of the proper decent northerners . I was brought up just up the road Newport at a place called Risca . ATB, Trevor
  18. Peter, Also, as Russell will confirm, you won't find many northerners working down here in the West Country. Most have them come down so they can be on the dole at the seaside, as in Newquay and Ilfracombe ( Liverpool- on-Sea ) . ATB, Trevor
  19. Mark, Is this any help at all ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-7DhH2xQQE ATB, Trevor
  20. Russ, There are a few of us yokels about, which is understandable as cars are only a very recent edition to the West Country, along with colour TV; but not many, think there is one in Plymouth, and a few foreigners in Somerset . ATB, Trevor
  21. Welcome Russell, Which part of Cornwall land are you from? I'm just up the road from you in ilfracombe . The car sounds fab, you must upload a pic You should be able to get any problems that arise sorted out on here, some even car related ! ATB, Trevor
  22. Dear John, Have a look round, there will be garages cheaper than the stealerships, I don't intend using them after the warranty runs out. They charge hand over fist, and i don't trust them. But I hope you get the prob sorted, and shortly. ATB, Trevor
  23. Josh, The more Jaaags in the West Country the better, especially as we're not under water anymore ! ATB, Trevor
  24. When the warranty has run out I'll be getting all the work done on mine by an independent garage . ATB, Trevor
  25. Welcome Kris, I'm with Mick, and hope the bas****s don't win . Next to dealerships, insurance companies are my pet hate, they pray on peoples fear, quick enough to take your money and reluctant to pay out ; as I've found to my cost over claims due to the recent floods. If you can take them all outside and shoot the lot the world would be a better place. I hope you get everything sorted and quickly. And as we say in England , every time the team goes out to but " It's just not cricket" ! ATB, Trevor (small old pom)
