  1. Elwyn, As you can gather from my comments above, i agree with you . On mine the bonnet sensor went (who needs it anyway) so I couldn't lock the car as it though the bonnet was open . Luckily is was covered under warranty, but I still had to do a 130 mile round trip to the stealership to get it fixed . And don't even get me started about the battery in an electronically operated boot ! But apart from that , the car is fab ! ATB, Trevor
  2. Peter, That's what I would like to do, just go out and check the oil in morning instead off all the palaver mentioned above . ATB, Trevor
  3. I agree Peter, can't see why I should have to take the car on a run ( four miles) to get it up to operating temperature , then wait five minutes before the computer can check it, far easier to check using a dipstick . ATB, Trevor P.S. Bring back starting handles as well I say !
  4. Taking mine for a sail to Guildford in Surrey on Monday to see Nigel kennedy, if he behaves himself I might even let him have a ride in it . The computer thingy has given me two different amounts of oil to shove in ( I didn't take it on a proper drive to warm it up properly) , oh for a dipstick , so I'll bung some in tomorrow to be on the safe side . What oil would you good peeps recommend please? ATB, Trevor
  5. I will probably get one next year, the XJ Supersport isn't too shabby though . ATB, Trevor
  6. I think it's going to be the new F type Coupe , but unfortunately the cost of repairs to the house after the storms have put paid to me getting one this year ! ATB, Trevor
  7. Hi JIm, know what you mean , feel like I'm the only southerner here, most of the rest appear to be northerners . But at least you have an XJ. ATB, Trevor (The other outcast)
  8. Found this tip, don't know if it will be of any use but might be worth a try . 1. Reset the EPB module: a. Switch off the ignition. b. Disconnect the battery for 30 seconds. Reconnect the battery. 2. Start the engine. 3. Firmly apply and release the foot brake five times. 4. Confirm that the message “NOT CALIBRATED” or “APPLY FOOT AND PARK BRAKE ” is displayed on the instrument cluster message centre. This indicates that the parking brake is in calibration mode. 5. Lightly press the foot brake pedal. 6. Apply the parking brake by using the EPB switch. 7. Release the parking brake. 8. Release the foot brake. 9.Confirm that the brake warning lamp is no longer illuminated on the instrument pack and that the“NOT CALIBRATED” message is no longer displayed in the message centre. 10. Apply and release the EPB five times to ensure no error is present. ATB, Trevor
  9. Forgot I lived in Coventry, but that's probably the best thing to do ATB, Trevor
  10. David, Same here, done a few other makes including BMW's and Aston Martins , but the Jag knocks spots of all of them. ATB, Trevor
  11. Dear Peter, I don't think the scousers in Ilfracombe are very good representatives of the city in all fairness . The opening hours of the Aldi supermarkets really confuse the Geordies ATB, Trevor
  12. Dear Peter, Didn't realise John Bishop spoke English, but all credit to him for his charity work .I think of of the scousers must now live in Devon . ATB, Trevor
  13. As matter of fact Peter it is the dead opposite with me. My mother was evacuated to Wales during the war and had a torrid time. to say she disliked the Welsh until the day she died would be an understatement . She was living in Monmouthsire when she was pregnant with me, at the time Monmouthshire wasn't regarded English or Welsh . As she didn't even want me being accused of being half Welsh she went to Liverpool to her mothers so I was born in England , so unfortunately I'm a mickey mouser. Only lived there for two weeks after my birth though , which is long enough for anyone . I'd rather be Welsh than scouse ! ATB, Trevor
  14. There are more Northerners in ilfracombe than there are Devonians, it is know as Liverpool-On-Sea . they say every scouser is either a comedian or a singer, on that basis John Bishop must be one hell of a singer ! But I am taking lessons for when I come oop North in April http://www.wimp.com/yorkshireaccent/ ATB, Trevor
  15. Of course it is Josh, and to prove it . ATB, Trevor
  16. Dear Peter, I agree, the midlands is the north by the way . But look on the bright side . ATB, Trevor
  17. Welcome Steve, I don't know anything about cars and rely on the grown ups on this site . They are a helpful friendly bunch though. ATB, Trevor
  18. It's because were not London or the home counties ATB, Trevor
  19. I used to babysit him Mike , but on the bright side it's the wife's 28th wedding anniversary tomorrow, so to cheer myself up I'm going to see Willie and the Bandits ! This is another pic of my car taken in civilisation (Guildford, Surrey) ATB, Trevor
  20. MIke, It is worth looking into. But to top it all we had an earthquake yesterday, I think big G has got it in for the West Country, but all is ok now ATB, Trevor
  21. Mike, Thank you Mike, compared to the poor souls in Somerset I've got off very lightly indeed . We're used to the rain in ilfracombe anyhow, it's more like the tide coming down than ebbing and flowing, and at least the XJ has double glazing. ATB, Trevor
  22. Paying for everything myself Mike , as insurance companies are useless, but things are getting better . ATB , Trevor
  23. Josh, have got off quite lightly with the floods but have had to do a lot of repair to the house. ATB, Trevor
  24. I did get the hull sorted Mike, and the house is nearly dry now ! ATB, Trevor
  25. MJR, It's even better now that we have less roads underwater. ATB, Trevor
