It sounds like it could be a problem with the fuses, first thing I would do is check them . Also, the fuse numbers change with model year, so you must make sure that the fuse location document you have matches the model year for your car. ATB, Trevor

Alan, Nearly bought the XKR-S, but in the end went for the Supersport, it is 5 litre Supercharged and is a lot quicker than both the Aston Martin DB9's I owned, so i'm pleased with the power. ATB, Trevor

Welcome, with your knowledge of maintenance I'm sure you input will be highly valued; if you think we can help in anyway, just ask. ATB, Trevor

Dear Brian, I am also retired . Had a bit of luck in the money department, so I'm not flash in the slightest. The wife bought me an Aston Martin DB 9 for my birthday, whilst it was in for service someone ran into it . The garage is also a Jaguar as well as an Aston franchise . The XJ Supersport belonged to one of the Jaguar directors and they let me borrow it . it is a fantastic car, so they have let me keep it, it is so far superior in every single way to the Aston . Apart from the usual Luxury (and USB port) , it has a 1200 watt 20 speaker sound system , and three TV's' . As I get older I get worse, and have just changed my christian name from Trevor to Hendrix (honest) . And as Peter claims he is even older (definitely wiser ) than us I think you should both join my club . ATB, Trevor

Dear Peter, You can't be that much of a Luddite. most people would regard you as super trendy as you own Apple stuff and shop at IKEA. What are cd's? I have loads in the loft you can have if you wish. This is the thing I was telling Brian about , this one is specifically for the Ipod, but other versions are available for other MP3 players, and cheaper versions also. it is a far better idea than cd's http://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-iTrip-Auto-Transmitter-Charger/dp/B000BWACX2/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1389077341&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=griffin+radio+tranmitter+for+MP3+player ATB, Trevor P.S. Peter, Surely if your JaaaaaG is a 2007 one it must have a USB port?

Brian, Fair enough. I just presumed your Jag had a USB port , I just find ipods very poor music reproduction systems . But you can get transmitter systems that you plug into the cigarette lighter and use one of the frequencies on the radio to play the MP3 player, or in your case your Ipod through. I have used this system in the past also and found it fine . They are cheap and widely available, got mine from Amazon and think it was called a Griffin. ATB, Trevor

Brian, why bother with an Ipod, they're rubbish for music anyhow , I binned mine.. Why not just use a USB stick , that's what I do, and the music is flawless and at a far higher quality than the ipod, Also the music is easier to put on a USB stick as it's just drag and drop, with no need for that terrible Itunes software. All time favourite Jaguar model
knightsmith replied to Jaguar Owners Club's topic in Jaguar Owners Lounge
It used to be the E Type, but I find the XJ Supersport I now have fabulous . Also I have a feeling that the F Type Coupe when it comes out shortly will take some beating. ATB, Trevor -
Dear John, Found this info, don;t know if it's of any help. " I've read that the 2.5 and 2.7 have timing belts, while the 3.0 has a chain. Belts, are suppose to be changed at 60 -75,000 miles, while chains you don't touch. You change timing belts, you don't touch timing chains." ATB, Trevor

Darren, I have my 2012 XJ Supersport insured with Endsleigh insurance ( as I did with both the Astons) , I pay £350 a year fully comp . https://www.endsleigh.co.uk/personal/motor-insurance/car-insurance/ ATB, Trevor

LUXURY CAR OF THE YEAR: Jaguar XJ.
knightsmith replied to Jaguar Owners Club's topic in Jaguar Owners Lounge
Well I think my XJ Supersport is just fantastic ! ATB, Trevor -
I love mine as it's a wolf in sheep's clothing , looks like a big white car, but when the 5 litre supercharged engine is given it's head it will leave most things in it's wake . It makes my previous car, an Aston Martin DB9 seem pedestrian in comparison . The jaguar is so far superior in every way ! Happy new Year to You all ATB, Trev .

Dear Peter, As you're into Apple products, should you not be driving a Morris Minor , or maybe Jaguars' 2014 model ? I queried about Jaguar Assistance after the warranty runs out and got this reply from the (fairly ) local stealership " You can still get the Jaguar Assistance, but you will need to renew the warranty. You can do this for 12 months at a time, at a cost of £1,200.00 (you could also buy the warranty without jaguar assist at £1,100.00). " So as you can imagine, it will be the RAC, AA, or Green Flag when the warranty runs out then . ATB Trevor

Dear Peter, Just join photobucket http://s209.photobucket.com/ upload a photo , click on the photo, and on the right hand side there will be a choice of options , click on where it says "direct " it will then say "copied" then on this site click on the "image" option and another box will pop up , then press CTRL and V . and then ok, and your image will appear on the page, as my old M3 did ATB, Trevor

Happy New year to you all also. This is a pic of me doing my duty in Guildford last week and feeding the 5000 ATB, Trevor

Why not change your breakdown service ? no disrespect, but I've never heard of Britannia Rescue . I use Jaguar assistance, and at least they know about Jags , I presume this is available to vehicles after the warranty has run out but I'm not sure. ATB and Happy New Year, Trevor

Merry Christmas to you all ! ATB, Trevor

Sounds a cool idea Kelly , if that doesn't work you could always try what I do, ask a grown up x ATB, Trevor
-
You could try this; Excessive bulb temperature is a more likely cause of failure. This will occur if the heat transfer path from bulb to the light unit and thence atmosphere, is less than adequate. Good, clean metallic contact between the bulb's metal seat and its holder is essential. Cheap quality bulbs may not fit as well as the more high end versions, or there might be corrosion. Some heat is lost throught the supply and earth wires themselves, so in this respect a bad earth or connector can assist in the failure process. So check the full path for heat to escape - not easy in the X Type which is probably why it is seldom done! In some cases, better heat loss might be achieved by using heat transfer compound on the bulb base.(Intended to assist the heat transfer from elecronic components to their heat sinks (Maplins - Code RE96E for £4.19) ATB.
