  1. Anthony,. The best thing you can do it not to book it into a Jaguar dealership, the first thing they will do will be to put it on their diagnostic computer, which can cost up to £90 . Is your battery in good working order? quite often these anomalies happen to Jags when the battery is on the way out . Wait until Peter comes online, he lives in the West Midlands, and maybe his mobile mechanic lives near you, if not, I'm sure he will know of a good independent garage near you . ATB, Trevor
  2. Steve, Well that is good news, go ahead and use them. I found them quite extremely expensive, as have others on this site . What you pay for your S type diesel is more expensive than what I pay for my 2012 XKR 5 litre . ATB, Trevor
  3. Phil, You can reset the service light on the S type by doing this: NOTE: Steps 2 to 5 must be completed within 3 seconds for successful service mode resetting. • NOTE: Ignition key in the OFF position. Press and hold down the trip computer CLEAR/RESET button. 2. Continue to hold down the trip computer CLEAR/RESET button and turn the ignition switch to the ON position. 3. Release the trip computer CLEAR/RESET button. 4. Press and hold down the trip computer TRIP button located on the left-hand steering column multifunction switch. 5. Continue to hold down the trip computer TRIP button and press and hold down the trip computer CLEAR/RESET button. 6. Continue to hold down the trip computer TRIP and CLEAR/RESET buttons, RESETTING SERVICE MODE will display in the information and message center if steps 2 to 5 are completed successfully. 7. After 10 seconds the information and message centre will then display SERVICE MODE RESET once the process is complete. 8. NOTE: If the information and message centre does NOT display SERVICE MODE RESET, steps 1 to 8 must be repeated. Release the trip computer TRIP and CLEAR/RESET buttons and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.ATB Trevor
  4. Charlie, They don't let the likes of us into Brighton, my youngest taught there for a while . ATB, Trevor
  5. Peter, Live music is my favorite thing, at the two recent festivals i've been to, classical, and the rock and blues one I have met some really nice people ans seen some excellent music . Also saw Joan Armatrading last week. People seemed to enjoy our festival a great deal and we even made a small profit (after a lot of very hard work). If you did that facebook thing I could give you a link to the photos and comments . ATB, Trevor
  6. Andrew, Sorry about the banter we do get a bit carried away at times , the banter would be even better if Charlie had his way over the referendum as he'd now be foreign Would love to go to Brighton as it is one of my favorite places , unfortunately it is a terrible drive from Ilfracombe, even in the Jaaaag, and I would have to see the wife's kids . Had the most fantastic week, not bothered to argue with Jaguar or their stealerships , but saw some really good music at our blues /rock festival. The musicians were well impressed with the XKR . ATB, Trevor
  7. Peter, Poets and Sutton Coldfield in the same sentence , as the youngsters would say LOL. You can release the flap from inside the boot, but I think you're right about the cap. Why isn't it known as The Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield anymore ? I'm just curious ATB, Trevor
  8. Shaun, I think there is a plastic pin that might have snapped, evidently it is common on these cars . How to repair it I wouldn't know . Peter has an S type he will probably be of more help Sorry I can't be of more help . ATB, Trevor
  9. Charlie, Medication is unfortunate like that, mine whines about getting into the Jag (hence her wanting a Merc), I just tell mine to lose a bit and it would be easier. Talking about the fire brigade, mine set fire to the loft once when I was up the shops , she phoned 999 and asked them to send "One of those big red lorries with the ladders down the side" ( i promise you that is true ). Looking on the bright side it is 'er birthday Christmas eve , bless 'er (I'd like to at times) Get the Lambo for yourself , and let the divine Mrs Boyle use the Vauxhall . ATB, Trevor
  10. Charlie, 'er indoors likes Ferraris now, but explained to her we haven't the roads around here for them (or caravans) . Don;t like the way the doors ope on the Lambos, or the McClaren . Why wouldn't the divine Mrs Boyle get in a Lambo? ATB, Trevor
  11. Charlie, Quite lucky down here, as we don;t have winter as such, the rain is just a tad cooler. Very seldom have snow, or even a frost. But if we do have the odd flake it is really amusing seeing the yokels panic (especally teachers). ATB, Trevor
  12. Charlie, Same place as I got the picture of mine, although she had been on the drink ! Same here about Christmas, I'm ok once it is here, but as stated the wife does always get extremely ill at Christmas, it is a nightmare ! Also, albeit a few year back, my father and both his parents both died within six weeks of each other the same Christmas, so it is not really a happy time ATB, Trevor
  13. Charlie, Same here. Why do you put the car into hibernation? Never seen an Aldi, although their opening hours must confuse all Geordies . The only time i've been in Lidl is when i was a music researcher to listen to the background music ATB, Trevor
  14. Charlie, Oh please, give it a rest young man, it is only November. I don't meant to sound a grouch, but 'er indoors has been really ill for the last 31 years running, so I know what's coming ATB, Trevor
  15. Charlie, Don't get me wrong, the Jag is fab, it's all the rest that goes with it that gets me down. What do you want a trickle charger for young man, and what are you doing shopping in Aldi, you'll be frequenting Lidl next ! ? ATB, Trevor P.S. Heated seats are for pansies, never used mine, although 'er indoors has; but she is southern
  16. Charlie, All well and good, but the car was 10 months old. Rapidly coming to the conclusion that "decent " cars are more trouble than they're worth. Should have stuck to my £950 Mondeo , all the Two BMW"'s, Two Aston Martins, and the Two Jags have done is cost me a lot of grief and money, but have made the stealerships a pretty penny ! 'er indoors wants a Merc, but they're probably just as bad as the rest . ATB, Trevor P.S. One thing I am very impressed with Charlie, is the reversing camera on my car, sounds like you should try one young man, now there's a good Christmas present !
  17. Mark, It is the lies that has got me. I expect to pay maintenance bills , but 19 weeks after I had bought it, after they had told me it had been serviced ? In the last three years I have bought four cars from them. £54K , £64K, £50K, and £50K . So they have well made their money out of me , not too mention they wrecked my Aston Martin . A little respect would not have gone amiss, but all I got was lies. So that's why they won't see me again. Bunch of con merchants ! ATB, Trevor
  18. Peter, " It doesn't take much to admit they were wrong!" My thoughts exactly, but I think those days have gone, sadly . ATB, Trevor
  19. John, Try one of the other sat nav discs that came with the car, there should be three, although Spain is on disc one for my car ATB, Trevor
  20. Peter, Although I agree to a certain extent I cannot believe the attitude by Jaguar themselves to my grievances . They totally dismissed the findings of the independent garage (obviously as it suits them). They would not accept that the car had not been serviced even after it was them themselves that offered me a discounted deal , which fell in line a year to the last service in the book , and the service light came on the following day . They said (their figures ) that the back brake pads were "only" 50% worn when they sold me the car, and seemed to think this was totally acceptable after me paying £50K in cash for the car . It is their arrogance and attitude that their wasn't any possibility they were in the wrong . Surely for the sake of custom relations just a small gesture on their behalf could have poured oil on troubled waters . Whatever they say I do not think it is right that a customer should have to pay £648 to have the car serviced and the back brake pads replaced just 19 weeks and less than 3000 miles after it was bought . Even a simple apology would have done , but they are not even bothered in the slightest in losing what I think is a very good customer. Gripe over . ATB, Trevor
  21. Peter, If they are so good why don't you get your car serviced by them ? I have found them to be very over priced, and very uneconomical with the truth . They could take a lesson in customer relations and civility . If main dealers were any good, independent garages would not exist . I have bought my last six cars through main dealers, each time I have paid over the odds . I am very disappointed with the attitude of Jaguar , I would like to have thought I was a valued customer, but apparently not . For less than 0.5% of the total price I paid for the car they would have still had a happy customer, or even an apology would have helped. Much as I like the car, I will be looking elsewhere next time . ATB, Trevor
  22. Charlie, Apart from the car, I am extremely disappointed with everything to do with Jaguar . ATB, Trevor
  23. Peter, Well just come down without hair, and without caravan. Charlie, In all fairness I had a Vauxhall Astra SRI, and it never let me down . The worst car i've had in 48 years of driving have been the Aston Martins . The worst dealerships have been Jaguar, followed by BMW. The worst company i've dealt with and with the most arrogant useless customer relations have been Jaguar . ATB, Trevor
  24. Charlie, I will make sure Cornwall is open for you . The drive isn't too bad unless you do it on a Saturday morning during the season, then the M5 is full of caravans ! ATB, Trevor
