  2. Hi both, thanks for the positive comments about the embossed headrest idea. Unfortunately, it's just that - an idea that I visualised in Photoshop. I tweeted this to Jaguar UK and to Design Director, Ian Callum. I got a "like" from Ian, but it didn't go any further. Shame really, a bespoke service by Jaguar to personalise would surely help to give greater distance between them and the competition?

  4. Hi Dean, Unfortunately, I didn't get any further with this. My compromise is to live with the minor scuffing. I did consider peeling the wrap off, but realised it looked like the light veneer underneath which isn't my cup of tea. If I were to keep the car for a few more years, I might consider having it done by Jaguar, but I'm likely to sell it next year. You're right not to compromise too much, something as obvious as interior trim or wheel size, paint colour has to be what you really fancy. The initial 'novelty' of owning the XF will subside, so you have to be happy to live with the choice. I once bought a BMW Z3 and opted for the 4 cylinder instead of the straight 6. I regretted it every time I started the ignition! I decided I'd never deviate from my mind's wish list after that! Thanks Richard

  6. The fake scripting/arguments and scenarios (crashing into property "accidentally" etc) have been negatives for me. But I've always loved the programme. Nothing lasts forever, and nobody is getting any younger. I'm sure there's a more dynamic team, more entertaining and talented ready to take the format forwards. Fingers crossed they don't plump for James Corden.
  7. Hi, I have a 2009 XF Luxury 3.0D - love it. The previous owner had the trim wrapped with carbon fibre. Looks very nice, it was done exceptionally well. However, there are a couple of areas that have been scratched and I considered having piano black trim instead. I understand Jaguar will ask for £3,000,000 to do this, any suggestions as to alternatives that come under this price bracket?

  9. Hi Mac, Sorry to hear the shine has been taken off the experience, but completely understand why. Given the time lapsed since registration, it's less likely that Jaguar would do much about it. But, their UK customer service team is pretty good in my experience (dealer won't want to know). It's worth giving them a call, they may well have the details on file to check through with you. As for recompense, they might give a complimentary something...cufflinks?! The trader won't have done anything wrong as they saw from the log book it was a Sovereign too. Good luck, it's worth a chat. Nothing to lose.
  10. Hot on the heels of the embroidered car mats, I've designed this for the headrests - even easier to apply to the removable headrests. I'm going to tweet this idea to Jaguar too. (NB I've tweaked the perspective as it's a bit out for the tweet)
  11. It would be great, but I think Jaguar would quite rightly have something to say about copyright infringement. And given they're a client of our company, I think I'd rather stay on the right side of their legal team.
  12. Thanks Geoff. Unfortunately this only went as far as me photoshopping this visual. Would love to have them made. Think they should also offer embossed headrests too. Easy to do. Might visualise this too and send to Jaguar.
  13. So, since I couldn't find what I really wanted, I designed it myself and sent to Jaguar on Twitter... the famous growler emblem embroidered into the car mat. They thought it a nice touch and the Design Director also favourited the tweet too.

  15. I was brave enough to press the valet button hoping it wouldn't lock everything. I being the second owner wondered if a previous PIN would be in operation. It appears to be a too obvious one which I hit immediately. How to change the PIN to my own, more complex number? Thanks
  16. Really intrigued to see how this vehicle will ultimately look. If they do a coupe version, it could be what the TT did for Audi. They'd only had the saloons/estates before this and were no way near as desired. I was with the marketing team when the first A4 was launched - it was all about being understated and sneered at BMW for their brashness. I'd say those roles have been reversed today. But there's no denying their sales success and that's something Jaguar would certainly welcome - let's hope they don't follow the brashness too.
  17. So after a month of quiet wafting, the driver's door started making an obvious creaking sound. Opened the door right open and saw the card was unclipped in two places. So, pushed them in to hear two reassuring clicks. Drove the car - it made it WORSE. hmmm, previous owner unclipped for a reason. So, I found some thin black fabric, wedged into the card... total silence.

  19. I just bought my first XF. I set the B trip computer for a good motorway run. It started the journey at 28.4mpg then rose number by number as the journey got to 34.3mpg. Doesn't sound great - am I using this trip computer properly?!
  20. I did this when making a sharp exit from a road and catching a paddle showing my brother-in-law the car. I styled it out though.
  21. I was fully prepared to say don't do it, then I saw them and thought they look better than expected. Would like to see them in the flesh though. Might look a bit fussy with the join lines close up? It's also an admission that the design isn't as nice as it could be. I was initially put off the idea of pre-facelift until it visited one at a dealer. Fell for them hook line and sinker. I actually think they look more substantial than the sleeker shape. Not necessarily prettier, but more substantial.
  22. Yes, you read that correctly. I recently purchased an 09 XF 3.0D in ultimate black and LOVE it. I am however tidying up some minor blemishes here and there. One of which was an annoying white reside left on the rear lower vinyl trim by the exhausts by presumably wax. The usual soaps and cleaners didn't shift it, but I tried using smooth peanut butter instead. I checked to see no neighbours saw what I was doing (naturally) and gave it a whirl. And it worked! I'm hoping the oils haven't just disguised it, but I gave the car a wash and still no residue visible. Question is, how on earth did someone think of it?
  23. I just took delivery of my first Jaguar, the XF. I've owned BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo cars and I can honestly say this is the best car I've ever owned. I don't expect it to be perfect, heaven knows I had issues with my Volvo that I thought unacceptable for the brand. Jaguar Land Rover are incredibly strong at the moment and I don't doubt that scale is important for future survival. But with the Evoque selling so well, the forthcoming Freelander to do the same and full fat Range Rovers popping up everywhere, I don't think as a group they have much to worry about. Jaguar's performance in the JD power survey and lessons learned from the past, I don't doubt they're going to produce a 3-series sized car that offers a genuine alternative to the german brands. As good as they are, not one of them has the soul of a Jaguar.
