Rough Translation -- This article about my XKR with all the bells and whistles can be read from Page 44 to page 68 after my visit to Don Law Racing. Nice to see an XKR in Italy. Regards, Peter P.S. Offers of a better translation gladly accepted.

Hi Michael, and welcome to the club. I had a similar x type and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a great car to drive. I hope you will enjoy the club as much as you will enjoy your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.

I have had the same, Paul. This time it was a man who saw a Jaguar parked in Blue Badge badge bay and while I was queueing at the ATM observed that people who have Blue Badges should not have a car like that. Keeping my face straight, I observed that he or she was probably a pensioners too, and they should not be allowed to drive cars like that. We had a jolly little conversation and I was egging him on a bit, as he made a few suggestions as to what the Government should do about it. He was rather surprised when I waved to him as I passed him while driving out of the car park!

The members make a club, Ward, and there is s huge depth of knowledge in the club, with a great willingness to share. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Ward. When I bought an X type in 2011 to replace my 1999 Rover the dealer told me I would never drive another make of car. It was true! Enjoy your Jaguar and I hope, the Club. Regards Peter.

Hi David, My 2.7D s type has started first time every time since I bout in in June 2013. I spend a few shillings on Wynns Injector cleaner every 3000 miles and it works, Peter.

Hi John, I had a company car for 27 years but I found a a way to get my no claims bonus. I got a letter from our Fleet manager with a statement that I had not had a culpable accident for over 8 years. I got full no claims bonus. Regards, Peter.

Wel come to the club, Colin. The x type is nice car -- made in Lancashire too! Which model is your X type and does the interior have full leather seats? Halfords do supply a good leather cleaner but the best I have found is Supa Guard, but hard to find commercially. You will also need a good leather preservative. I hope you enjoy your Jaguar for a long time! Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Steve. Jaguars are very nice cars, and certainly, like me, you will find out a lot more about them. Feel free to ask any question as there is lots of expertise available. Regards, Peter.

I had the same with a Rover 418 Diesel. I had Rover fitted pads that started to squeal. My Rover was a company car and I had a Kwik Fit card, so took it there for new pads. They said that they were worn and replaced them with pad that did not squeal. When I took my car in for a service they main Rover dealership told me that the brake pads were practically worn out and were made of a softer material. They also told me that they had replaced them with Rover Parts ---- no more squeals. I went back and asked why the earlier Rover pads squealed and their excuse was that they had had a batch of inferior pads. I always did like to see the box that parts came in and asked the dealer to do that in future, as it had been know that a dodgy mechanic would often use a part worn part taken from one car and keep the genuine one to sell on. Peter.

Hi Ann, I think that you are going along the best route. I had my S Type given a paint protection coating just over three years ago, and I am pleased to say that it worked well and worth the £300 it cost. A good detailer will probably do the same job a but cheaper than the Jaguar dealer who did mine. There are several good products that are worth looking into, which route I am also going along, as the protection coat is said to only last 3 years. My car sits on the driveway, and if you can get a hydroponic [I think that is the word] wax it will keep the car protected from the rain and snow. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Peter. Like you, I had Rovers for a long time. After 3 Montegos I had two Series 4 Rovers and then a Rover Sterling 825 which I kept for 11 Years before buying my first Jaguar, a X Type 2.5 litre SE AWD and then through circumstances I bought a late model s type2.7D SE. I hope you will enjoy the club as much as you will enjoy your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.

What is the most common problem with your car?
Old Peter replied to Steve's topic in Chit Chat - Non Jaguar Related
Not really any problems, but resetting the "Parkbrake Fault" is a bit of a pain. It happens two or three times a year. Peter. -
Jaguar XE R Sport 180 - Ultimate Black
Old Peter replied to Yorkshire1972's topic in New Members Introductions
Welcome to the Club, Jamie. I have sat in one of these cars -- same model and colour, too. Great car - and you are certain to enjoy it. Regards, Peter. -
That's the right thing to do, Tom. I think you might well see prices rise for well looked after s type. There were less than 370k manufactured and over half of them went to the USA and Europe. Regards, Peter.
-
Hi David, Resetting the windows etc is quite easy on the s type. Just follow the procedure in the Owners's Manual. It should be similar on the XF. Regards, Peter.
-
Probably the best bet, Andy.

I have one that I bought from ldi for £50. While it works OK it still needs charging after use and also weighs in at circa 15lbs. There are available much smaller units that can plug into your power source that appear to do the job of battery boost. Worth checking out eBay. Peter.

A good read, Joe. Did you know that a 1950's Ferrari was 3 seconds slower over 0 -60 mph than a D Type Jaguar, and even with a 4.9 litre engine was slower from 0 to 60 than a current S Type with a 2.7 Diesel Peter.

Hi Ann, and welcome to the club. I have searched for covers, and have had two, which regrettably did stick when wet. I did see a cover being used that was very well lined and rather robust, but it was in Arizona and being used against the sun and the odd dust storms. I have also seen some advertised in the UK but they are quite costly. Regards, Peter.
-
Welcome to the club, John. The X type is a very good car, and although maligned by some [who have never driven it] is a great car to drive. I am guessing that you car is a Diesel and when looked after properly will, as in the words of a mechanic "will go on for ever". Regards, Peter.

6 Months and still smiling
Old Peter replied to HonourableKilla's topic in New Members Introductions
Hi Steve, I do believe that later XK models have a SatNav system that operates via a software system downloaded onto the computer. I could be wrong, but I do know that there was a change in the system. Regards Peter. -

Yes, Daniel. I like using the Jaguar SatNav, and the one on the S Type is quite user friendly. Having spent almost 40 years doing over 30k a year, I have got to know a lot of England and Wales, a bit of Scotland. Wherever you used to be able to see a steelworks I have been around that area! Regards, Peter. -
