Welcome to the club, David. Have you got access to an OBD2 Code scanner? That will look for the code and when you have that the solution can be found. Most good garages will have diagnostic tools, but a basic scanner is not expensive ---- I have two in my boot --- but in the meantime just find a good garage and they will probably do a diagnostic test on your car for about £30. Welcome to the club, Wesley. I had exactly the same problem and I never found our where or how. I did put some tissues just underneath the battery to smack away any excess, and then I did what Steve has suggested. My car had sat in a dealers storage garage for over 3 months and I guess the boot had never been opened and that the seals around the boot has been compressed. Using a cloth sprayed with a mixture of vinegar and water I thoroughly cleaned the seals for a few times and eventually the leakage stopped. Regards, Peter.

Hi Jeff, Sorry for the late reply --- my internet has been down from Tuesday evening, and Virgin have just fitted a new Modem. I am still having trouble get the printer to understand that it has WIFI. I agree with you about the S Type and my thoughts are similar to yours. I would have thought that an S Type Mark IV would have made an excellent addition to the current mode; line up. A tweeted external design with an aluminium body, the new Ingenium engines to power the car which would give a good level of economy, and with the more powerful Ingenium engines to give more speed would have been a good seller. Hi Chris, and welcome to the club. I have had two previously owned Jaguars and SWMBO has paid for the paint protection on both. I have only used water, sometimes with a gentle shampoo in the last 5 years, and while the protection is said to last three years, mine is now 3.5 years and I only have to give it a spray occasionally to get rid of dirt that does not come off with luke warm water. My car is now none and half years old and still looks remarkable good. BUT you can get a local detailer to do the job at a similar price. Jaguar do a very good paint job on every car, and with the last coat the clear lacquer does make the paint job last longer. Regards, Peter.

I concur with you about the 2.7 Diesel - a very lively performer, and the s Type is the best car I have ever driven, but as I did 29 years of company cars I have only driven a handful of cars I have bought. I researched the 2.7 diesel engine and what I found pushed me towards it. Great Car! Regards, Peter.

I looked for an S Type with an 07 or 06 plate, that had as many bells and whistles as possible, making sure that certain extras were there. I was shown one 6 years old with 48k on the clock ---- 8k a year -- a reasonable mileage, and then all found out via the service record, which was complete - had had an engine changed by Jaguar under warranty. Plus the fact that the price was quite good for the condition the car was in, which was immaculate.

Breweries are nice places to visit. I collect souvenirs, and usually drink them. We have two big ones close in Burton-on-Trent. Regards, Peter.

Hi Nick and welcome to the club. Sorry to hear about your problems and hopefully the majority are now fixed - thanks for sharing. Many members have had their gearbox oil changed at circa 70k miles which they have said improves the gearbox performance --- gets rid of the ZF lurch - even though the gearbox is supposed to be for life. The park brake can be a nuisance and I have had a few issues with the message "Parkbrake Fault" which is cured by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and then reconnecting. I never use a main dealer having used a mobile mechanic for the last 14 years. At the last service I asked him to check out the park brake and he said that there was nothing wrong and it looked OK -- he also gave the cable a lubricant spray. I have not had the message since. Morgana, my S Type, will be taking me to Lyme Regis next month so give me a hoot! Regards, Peter.

Hi Lisa, The mileage says that the car has almost new engine, and as you say that the restoration is very good I guess that if it went to auction a reserve of £25k would not be out of order and I would expect it to bring in excess of £27500. With such cars of that age and rarity it is difficult, as you say, to put an exact figure on it. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

Yes, flies are a nuisance -- I use a fly remover spray -- diluted vinegar -- plus a fly remover pad. Peter.

Hi Geoff, I drive and s type with a "proper" spare wheel, so I have not had the experience of using such products but my son did use I similar product once for a slow puncture and it worked. Many cars now don't even have a space saver but just the puncture repair kit. On the plus side for me I have not had a puncture since 2001! Regards, Peter.

Hi Dave, My X type had 17" wheels and gave a good comfortable ride, but I was told that 16" wheels would give a more comfortable one. My son's x type estate 2.0D Sport has 18' wheels with no complaints. When it come round to tyre changes, he will probably complain about how more expensive they are than his previous 16" wheels! Hi Tim, I echo what Paul has said. The voice command is an optional extra on most Jaguar models. You can check what was factory fitted by getting a Jaguar dealer to read the VIN number. There is a site which sometimes works which will also tell you the extras fitted at the factory ----- vindecoderz worth a try. Regards, Peter.

Hi Alan, We sold one car when I retired as my wife had fallen out with her Red Escort EFI convertible. So we have only had one car for 17 years, two of them being Jaguars. Being a youthful 82, my S Type 2.7 D keeps me young! We are lucky that we don't have keyboard warriors or nasty people in the club. We have had a few though, but they don't stay, usually after some positive advice from the Moderators! Regards, Peter.

To add to what Dave has said, if it is not programmed correctly, a good auto electrician should bet able to programme it cheaper than a main dealer. Peter.
