Hi Rodney, I have been to a couple of air shows and seen the Lancaster flying. Great Aeroplane -- It was designed by a Lancashireman from my home town.

Hi Wat, That's the Irish in the SatNav. It wanted you to see more of that lovely country. We had a great trip last year, Liverpool to Dublin then across the Galway. The Sat Nav did OK without postcodes. Regards, Peter. Clip0.mov

Apparently the name for Lexus was devised from the title of the topic for a meeting in the Toyota HQ in Japan. It said that there would be a committee formed to fix the name of a new product and the Committee would have to decide what a Luxury Export to the United States should be called. After three days the most junior member of the team who was scribbling on his note pad said the name was already in the title of the committee -- Luxury EXport to the United States

That could also be the name of a Japanese car. The Japanese did have to change the name of one of their cars for France as it sounded less than good Toyota MR 2 which sounded like Merde. Peter.

I don't use my CC that much, due basically to the heavy traffic within the Birmingham conurbation. But when I going on long distances I use it all the time. I have had CC on my last 3 cars ---- from 2000 till now, and when I towed a caravan it was invaluable.

Enjoy the Holiday, Paul. Morgana is taking us to Dorset next month. Nice, gentle places in which to take a break. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Steve, My S type is our only car as being pensioners we have to watch the pennies, but we had t keep the Jaguar -- the experience is just too good. Just share your experiences and you will find the Club enjoyable. Just enjoy your Jaguar! Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Steve. There is a very good independent specialist in Doncaster that is well thought of by members should you need a specialist. The club members are friendly group of Jaguar aficionados who have a wealth of knowledge and are always ready to help. I also us to ride a Honda many moons ago - a 1962 Honda Dream 250cc. -- one of the first to come into the UK. Great motorcycle! Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Sohail. Have you got the Owner's Manual for your car? That is the starting point. You can also check the correct service parts -- oil, other fluids etc on the Opie Oils Website. This company is a Trade member of the JOC. A good independent garage will be less expensive than a main dealer, and there is a topic in the Club Forums -- Jaguar Owners' Lounge -- which lists recommended garages known to members. Let us know what you find. Regards, Peter -

Welcome to the Club, Clive. It's great to hear from Jaguar Owners from abroad. The s type is a great car - I have the 2.7 diesel which is surprisingly quick for a heavy diesel car. I hope you enjoy the club as well as your Jaguars. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Phil. I hope you enjoy the Club --- the members are very helpful --- as much as you enjoy your car. Regards, Peter.

Hi Ron and welcome to the club. I never had a problem installing the disc I got for my s type -- the 2012/13 disc. I would b inclined to return it as a faulty product. Regards, Peter.

Glad it is sorted, Marttin. It is awkward to get to, - my mechanic fitted my sons -- actually repaired it with tape and is fitting the new on next week if it gets there from eBay! Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Andrew. When I got my first Jaguar the salesman told me I would never drive another make of car. He was right. The Jaguar experience is fairly unique. Regards, Peter.

Hi Colin, I have 18" Alloys on my S type which were on the car when it came out of the factory in 2007. The do give a good ride. Tyres often come down to a personal choice, and you will get a lot of good suggestions from embers who have used various makes. There was a survey some years ago that gave tyre ratings, with Goodyear and Vredestein coming out at the top end. , but I have heard that Nexens are good tyres and there are quite a few others that get good reports and are not as expensive. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Mark. You have a very nice car and you have taken the trouble to have the ceramic paint protection system, which does last quite a long time. The dealer is quite right is saying that all you need to do is use plain water. I had my [then] 6 years old s type in Indigo Blue given a paint protection coating 3 years ago, and when washing it I use the three bucket system. A gentle wash using a microfibre cloth, and then a second bucket just to make sure you haven't missed anything. The third bucket is a good rinse. I always use microfibre cloths, or cleaning "sponges". I then dry the car using a towel from Halfords specifically made for the purpose, I was advised by a professional detailer not to use a chamois leather. Lambs wool is said to be good, although I have never used it. My car sits on the driveway and is our daily ride. I hope this has been useful. We do make good cars in the West Midlands! Regards Peter, Taken after rain - my s type, the reflection on the bonnet, and the third is a close up of the bonnet after rain.

Welcome to the club, Jim. You don't say which model of x type you have. Assuming it is a diesel, I would suggest a Terraclean service at a cost of around £120, as it sounds like the fuel system needs a cleanser. Lets us know how you get on, Regards, Peter.

restricted performance mode when hard on the pedal
Old Peter replied to traindriver69's topic in Jaguar XF Club
Welcome to the Club, Mark. It sounds a bit like a fuel issue. Try the cheap options first -- Wynns injector cleaner or a can of Diesel Magic. Hopefully, there will be other suggestions. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter. -
HI Julie, It is a timing chain. The only S Type with a cam belt is the 2.7 Diesel. Regards, Peter,

My car came off the production line on the 13th March 2007. The service message comes on in April every year. Andy, your car now lives in Wales, and the ECU does not cross national boundaries, Peter.

Hi Martin, You can get the part from eBay quite cheaply if it is the bit that is leaking, Peter.
-
Hi Martin, My son had the same problem with his 2006 x type 2.0d, and it gradually got worse till it had no real acceleration. He thought it was the turbo failing, and I thought it was somewhat slightly different and cheaper. Eventually he stopped googling and got my mechanic to look at it and it was found to be a split pipe --- one of those going from the manifold to the turbo. You could have the same problem. Just start the engine and see if you can hear a whistle or feel a leak. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter,

Welcome to the Club, Bryan. You will be able to tell us about Jaguars! I hope you enjoy the club as much as you have enjoyed your Jaguars. Regards, Peter.
