  1. Hi Ismael, The EGR Valve [Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve] is a usually a valve in the Diesel engine, but I understand that more modern cars all have that piece of kit. At a guess your car will not have an EGR valve. Regards, Peter.
  2. Welcome to the club, Duncan. You will need an OBD2 reader that will tell you what the Code number is and that will tell you the problem is the problem is. If you are a Member of the AA or RAC they will tell you and likely to fix it. If not, a good garage should have the OBD2 equipment. Regards, Peter.
  3. Welcome to the Club,Carl. I also wanted a Jaguar for many years and I got my first when I was 78 — finances were better than when I wanted a Mk2 Jaguar in my 20's. I think you will enjoy your XF as much as I enjoy my S Type. Just remember what Sir William Lyons said - "Grace, Space, and Pace" Regards, Peter.
  4. Welcome to the club, Tony. I hope you get everything sorted out. I spent about ten years campaigning for the UK to join Europe and was somewhat annoyed when the worst PM since Lord North had not the courage to tell people like Farage/Johnson/Cummings etc that Brexit was a bad thing. At least, your thoughts will be concerning the Spanish government and fixing a Jaguar. Enjoy! Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi Julie, Jim is quite correct. The electric park brake is very useful. When you stop and put on the park brake on you have no worries when you start as the brake will switch itself off. I have been over the the very steep hills in the Lake District several times. Just keep you car battery charged. Have you got the Owner's manual? Regards, Peter.
  6. Hi Julie, It is possible that the driving position on the 04 s type is different from the 08 s type. My s type 07 drivers seat reruns to neutral position when the key is taken out and returns to it driving positions as set. That is the only stored position. Peter.
  7. Hi Clive and welcome to the club. I would have thought that one of the 6 cylinder heads could be repaired without too much expense by a good mechanic. I had two cylinder heads on my Triumph Herald repaired for £14 — but that was in 1966 when £14 was a weeks pay. Good Luck and hopefully the car will live for another day. Regards, Peter.
  8. I have changed the fob batteries on my s type about 4 times over 8 years. A bit finicky but not difficult. Peter.
  9. Welcome to the Club, John. I am sorry that you have lost your wife - some one who thought about you told you to get a Jaguar. My wife of 54 years bought me my Jaguar when my Rover was one his last legs. I have enjoyed my Jaguar which I have had for just over 8 years and I think you will enjoy yours in the same way. Bill Lyons said when he saw an earlier Jaguar "Grace , Space and Pace " and it means that you will enjoy your car whatever you do. Regards, Peter
