  1. I never keep the house keys on the same key ring as the car key since my X Type was car jacked. I just have the Leaper key ring and don't have any problems. But I would like the gear knob the same colour as the dashboard. Peter.
  2. HI David, There is a Member who has a garage in Wiltshire who should be able to give you a clue, Just Google "Wiltshire Jaguar". Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Steve, I had the same problem --- I found that I was in Belgium! Felt a bit of a nana -- I reset the map. Regards, Peter.
  4. Hi Darren and welcome to the Club. Just as guess, but it sounds like a faulty earth somewhere. Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi XF, Two boys, SWMBO, me, one 4 person tent, 4 sleeping bags, a primus stove, groundsheets, cooking utensils, a table, and all the clothes needed would just fit into a 1.3 Ford Escort for two weeks in Scotland. Roof rack was just over £3. It can be done! The following year SWMBO got a Ford Escort Estate, so the roof rack was dumped. Regards, Peter.
  6. Hi Brenda, and welcome to the club. There are members who have had the gearbox fluid changed at 70k which they say has improved the gearbox performance -- that might do the trick. It is possible, though, that it could be a clutch problem. I would certainly have it checked out by a good mechanic. Let us know how it goes. Regards, Peter. P.S. I have deleted the duplicate post for you.
  7. Could be condensation, Ian. Peter.
  8. And silicone hoses are quite cheap on eBay too, Joe. Cheaper than the Jaguar genuine part. Peter,
  9. I find Shell OK, but I am guessing that it is not the make of fuel, but the make of the pump, and its delivery setting. Peter.
  10. Welcome to the club, Kevan My Jaguar was the wedding car for my niece, so I feel that the Jaguar is ideal for weddings, and I hope your enterprise prosers. My Wedding car was an Armstrong Siddely -- our wedding was almost 50 years ago, though! There is a man round the corner who has 10 Jaguars, with two of them being Hearses -- my last journey in a Jaguar will probably be one of his! Regards, Peter.
  11. Hi Steven, My son just had this issue. This hose is a replacement for one of the ones/pipes the seem to run from the exhaust manifold to the turbocharger. The original must have failed, as did my son's, with a significant loss of power. My mechanic repaired his hose/pipe and the car is now running quietly with bags of power. Regards, Peter.
  12. Hi Jon, The big quandary is it with spending the cost of a trip, but then you might kick yourself if it is a good one. If you know someone in the motor trade near where it is i might be worth getting it checked out before you make the journey. Regards, Peter.
  13. Welcome to the club, Steven. My younger son, also Stephen, has an X Type Sport 2.0D. Yours has a few optional extras more than his car. I think you will enjoy your Jaguar experience and I hope you will enjoy the club. Regards, Peter.
  14. Hi Mal, It could be that the engine mounts, but as I said, those will more expertise could possibly off a solution. Regards, Peter,
  15. Welcome to the club, Dave. I have been looking for a G type owner and if you are amenable I would like to read your review of it. PM me for a few more details. Regards, Peter.
  16. The temperature gauge on my S Type does go back to the temperature it was when you switched off the engine, but inside ten seconds or so reverts to the cold setting when the engine is started. It then works as normal. Peter.
  17. Welcome to the club, John. There is an XFR S sometimes visiting my local Supermarket -- the sound that the twin exhausts leave behind causes a lot of heads to turn. I hope you will enjoy your car! Just keep us posted on how it goes. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Peter and welcome to the club. Adding to what David has said I would first check out the battery as well. A failing battery can cause a few funny things to happen. Regards Peter.
  19. Welcome to the club, Chris. The s type is a great car and I think you will enjoy it. And it is not an old man's car, although this old man has got one. The Club has a 17 year old XJ owner, though, and he thinks the same! Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Bo, and welcome to the club. Can you post some photos sometime. I guess a lot of members would like to see them Regards, Peter.
  21. Hi Malcolm, The 2 litre Diesel engine is a tried and trusted one, and I guess that it could be something other than the engine. If it shudders on tickover is the first thing to look at, and if it doesn't try increasing the revs to about 2000 rpm - cruising speed. If it doesn't shudder when stationary, someone with more mechanical expertise than myself might be able to point you in the right direction. Regards, Peter.
  22. Good luck with the next MOT, Deb. Things come in threes - My son's water pump, your water pump, and my s type's water pump last week! Peter.
  23. Welcome to the Club, Mal. Details of your X Type will help to resolve the issue and there are lot of X type owners in the club who will help. And a little bit more information in your profile will also be of assistance. Regards, Peter.
  24. Welcome to the Club, GH. The 2.0 litre X type is not a baby really. The diesel is a well tried and tested engine, as is the petrol . A little bit more information in your profile would also be useful. Regards, Peter.
  25. Welcome to the Club, Matthew, You have a nice car there, and the wheels do suit it. You might see its little sister in Dorset [Lyme Regis area] in October. I hope you enjoy the club !Removed! much as you will enjoy your car, Regards, Peter,
