  1. HI David, I have just found, in between cutting the front hedge, that Jaguar produced 11050 s types in 2007 and none in 2008 but did sell them till spring 2008. Having been somewhat involves in the automotive industry the usual practice when a new model was replacing an older model was to have some of the new ones ready for the launch and stop building the older model a few months before that. I would guess that the last s types came off the line in about November so that the line could be tooled up for the XF. Regards, Peter.
  2. Hi David, The best I can find is Spring 2008, but I have also heard that it was the end of December 2007. I will look around and see what I could find. Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Peter, It all depends on what you want from a car. Sir William Lyons felt that "Grace, Pace and Space" were the three ingredients. The X type Estate is a great workhorse, and suits those who want and need space. The XJS is the car that would give you grace and pace but was limited on space. The Mk2 and the S type give you Grace, they give you space, and when you want it, even give your pace. I am biased, but I don't care. It is a great car. And the one in the picture is a 2.7 Diesel. Peter.
  4. Welcome to the Club, Sean. I think you will like your XF -- nice car, as was its predecessor, the S Type, and I hope you like the club as much. I lives and worked in Flintshire, and would probably have still been there if they had not closed the Steelworks at Shotton. Regards, Peter.
  5. The West Midlands is an expensive area for car insurance and I would not like to have to pay more than I do. Peter.
  6. Welcome to the club, Adam. The a club is a very friendly and knowledgeable group who will share experiences and help with issues. The X Type is a very good car and I think you will enjoy it. Regards, Peter.
  7. Hi Mark, and welcome to the club. The Classic X Type is the bottom of the range Jaguar when it comes to trim etc --- but it's a Jagusr and says a lot. The 2.0 litre Diesel is a tried and trusted engine and very economical. My son has the 2.0 D X Type estate on an 06 plate and finds it great. There is a lot of members who will assist with any issues that may arise. Always feel free to ask questions. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi James, The XF SatNav is different to my s type, but on my s type I can put on way points, points of interest etc. Some people criticise the Jaguar SatNav, but I rather like it. I would think that the XF satnav will have all of what the s type has plus some improvements. Regards, Peter,
  9. Welcome to the club, Alfred. I will leave it to XJ owners to give your experience of a great car which is the best way. A VIN decoder -- and a Jaguar dealer can do the printout of the sheet of paper that was used to build the car you choose showing every item fitted to the car from the optional extras available. It will also tell you the date that the car came off the production line and the day it was put on the road. I was always enamoured of the S Type, and I did all of things you are doing to find out about the model until SWMBO decided that we should have an X Type that we saw in the main dealers because she like the Colour. But eventually I did get my s type! Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Josh, and Welcome to the club. To correct the niggle, just follow the following route: First make sure you have your Radio Code to hand. Make sure the ignition is off and the key taken out. Then disconnect the battery for about thirty seconds, and then reconnect. The alarm will go off, and use the key fob to switch it off. You then will have to depress the foot bark and hand brake. The Message should disappear. You will then have to reset the radio, clock etc, and the windows, as in the handbook. That takes about five minutes. After that just set about enjoying the Jaguar experience. Regards, Peter.
  11. Welcome to the Club, James. I hope you enjoy the club - I know you will enjoy your Jaguar, great cars. Regards, Peter.
  12. The front fog lights were fitted on facelift cars but were not fitted on the models made in 2007. I think they were on 06 models. I thought about a retro fit but it involved too much messing about. Peter.
  13. Hi Steve, I had the engine bay of my company car done about 30 years ago at the dealers garage, and he used a spray degreaser - gunk or Jizer and then a steam cleaner. All I would use jet wash for is under wheel arches to get the mud off in the bad weather ---- I have had advice from a detailer not to use a jet wash on paintwork. I use a small brush and elbow grease in the engine bay, Regards, Peter.
  14. Hi Russ, There are several companies who deal inspires for Jaguars, audit would not be a bad idea mohave a look anther online catalogues. The David Manners Group and SNG Barrett are worth checking out for part availability. Regards, Peter.
  15. Hi Russ, I got the information about the owners from where they got the car serviced plus some invoices and MOT tests. The spec of the car when it left the production line/factory on the 13th of March 2007 was obtained off a site using the VIN number.---vindecoderl.com If it doesn't work, you can get a print out from a Jaguar Main dealer, and then by dint of pricing the items individually you can see how much was spent on optional extras -- in my case, it was £11,096 if I have remembered correctly. Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Kevan,

My son has an X Type 2.0 litre diesel  Estate on a 2006 plate. The car suddenly had a power loss which I guessed was a turbo problem, which my mechanic proved to be correct.

It tuned out to be the two pipes that run close to the EGR that had failed and which were temporarily repaired so that the engine could be started to look at an injector issue, which was rectified. The car is now back on the road and working fine, but the two repaired pipes do need replacing.

I have tried to get second hand ones, but my source has not replied.

I do not know the part numbers - the old pipes numbers are worn out, as you would expect.

Are you able to determine the part numbers and possibly supply?

    Regards,

    Peter.

      Hi Peter

Unfortunately I am not going to be much help to you as I am overseas until July 23rd and I don't have access to my parts catalogue when I am away.

If I can help when I get back please let me know.

      Regards

      Kevan

Please do Kevan. I will wait, as his car is running nicely with a bit of a whistle!

  17. Hi Andy, I had a good look at the first owner of my S Type, which has a lot of optional extras, even a proper spare wheel on a matching alloy. He lived in Cornwall and appeared to also have a place in London --- so no expense spared. The second owner lived in the Cotswolds and the car was serviced at a main dealers regularly. I guess it has every optional extra except Jaguar Voice and a TV screen -- which I would not have had either. Peter.
  18. I don't go into Birmingham by car any more, as I live close to Four Oaks and use my travel pass.
  19. Hi Paul, and welcome to the club, I am an expert at this job, having done it a dozen times when the message "Parkbrake fault] comes up. I would recommend that you disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then start again, Let us know if this works, Regards, Peter.
  20. Welcome to the Club, Alistair. Like you, I have driven many cars, and the S Type is the best car I have ever driven. My SE 2.7D rolls along silently at 2000 rpm at 70mph on Motorways, absolute comfort, and yet the pace needed when you accelerate. I hope you enjoy the club as much as you enjoy your s type. Regards, Peter.
  21. Probably was, William. I left in 1970, as I got a job working for ISTC/BISAKTA and moved to Sheffield. Peter,
  22. Hi Paul.

If you look at the list of members you will see "Jaguar Owners Club" in red.  That's Trevor.

    Regards,

    Peter.

  23. Hi William, I worked in the Pay Office from 1962 till the end of 1970. I had previously worked for John Summers in Widnes where they had a small works - it would be a big works nowadays - where I was the Pay and Cost Office Manager. I am still in contact with Eddie Sargeant. Small World! Regards, Peter.
  24. Looks Great, Chris. There is a similar model round here but it is not shiny, and the headlight need a good clean. It is a pity when Jaguar Owners don't keep their cars as nice as yours. Peter
