Welcome to the Club, Ironman. I hope you enjoy the club as well as your car. Regards Peter.

Your car looks great, Simon. Vibration could be tyres also. I had a front wheel vibration on a Rover Sterling, and found that there was just a small bulge, probably caused by a pothole. Regards, Peter.

I have not seen anything like that round here -- most Jaguar drivers do believe that the design team know what they are doing.

Welcome to the club, Jim. What is the mileage on your car? That will be helpful to those members who know the 3.0 litre manual can, as I guess there might be some issues with the gearbox. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Matt. What is the year and the engine of your car? There can be a small amount of water ingress into the boot, usually cured by cleaning the seals. Early models can sometimes suffer from rust in the sills. The s type is a great car and a real pleasure to drive. Regards, Peter. -
Best way to clean vinyl dash and door cards?
Old Peter replied to Graham C's topic in Jaguar Owners Lounge
Hi Graham, Auto gym products are usually pretty good. Better than average, there are others that are well thought of too. Peter. -
Hi Paul and welcome to the club. I have a Nextbase Dash Cam which you can just plug in to a power source although it can be hard wired in by any auto electrician. Halford has a good choice of Cams to choose from, but Nextbase is a market leader. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Steve. The X type is a nice car, - I had a 2.5AWD - which gave me a reasonable mpg of between 27 in the city and 35 on long runs. You probably need your aircon regassing, which is quite cheap at the moment. Regards, Peter.
-
Hi Simon, You will certainly be helpful to the club members. The club is getting quite a few experts who are becoming members. Regards, Peter.

Hi Phil, The first "x type" was a hasty experiment at the end of 1999 and some dozen or so were put into showrooms in both the USA and the UK. It totally failed to attract any attention, and my uncle, who was an engineer at Halewood told me that only a handful were sold and the remainder were rebadged again as Mondeos. One such sits outside in front of the house next door. The x type was designed by Geoff Lawson and Wayne Burgess, with a target of 100,000 a year, actually, and in its year of launch manufactured 55,600, with following years 69,050, 61,600, 60,000 and then 42,975 and tailing off. The AWD sold well in the north of the USA and in Canada, with the S type selling quite well in the Southern states of the USA. The S Type was designed in Detroit with Ian Callum co-operating. I am from the North West of England and knew many of the 4000 Halewood workers who were , in later years, quite happy with the way Ford consulted with them. Sorry about the bushes! Peter.

Welcome to the club, Simon, The club is a very friendly group and who share experiences, and will assist you with any issues you might have. I hope you enjoy the club as much as you will enjoy your car. Regards, Peter.

Hi Joan, and welcome to the Club. I have never come across a left handed indicator-----yet. Two good answers so far! Regards Peter,

Welcome to the Club, Dean. I hope you enjoy the Club as much as you will enjoy your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.

HI Martin, and welcome to the Club. There are aftermarket modules available and there are also members with the expertise on fitting them who will help. You will enjoy the x type - nice car - and the 2.0 litre diesel is very economical. Regards, Peter.

Hi Mick, and welcome to the club. Does the car behave normally most of the time? And do the brakes work properly? If so, I would check the battery because sometimes the battery on an s type will do peculiar things if it is not fully charged. An OBD2 code reader would help diagnose the issue I would also check the DSC switch if it is switching on and off OK. It could be a sensor that is a bit iffy also. There will be other members who could also assist. Regards, Peter.

Hi Phil. My comment reference RR and Buick was basically intended to show that those who called the X type a Mondeo never called the RR a Buick although there were just as much Buick in an RR as there was Ford in an X Type. The very first X Type - there were very few made and I think less sold was actually a Mondeo Ghia with a Jaguar badge on it, but the Halewood workers wanted to build a Jaguar designed by Jaguar Designers, and when Ford agreed they found that they had a winner in the X type. Regards, Peter.

Hi Phil, There are many people a touch jealous about Jaguar drivers. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, that company was one of the world leaders in automotive technology, and much technology coming out of Detroit was adopted by other car manufacturers. No one says that Rolls Royce is a rebadged Buick, although Rolls Royce and Bentley used a Buick engine until BMW and VW took them over. Aston Martin, Morgan, Mazda also used Ford engines, and why not? They are good engines! I love my s type the engine of which was designed as a joint venture between Ford and Peugeot, ask used in other cars too. Regards Peter.

Hi Ronnie, Give him another few tries via emails and if no response in a couple of weeks, please let me or another moderator know. Benefit of the doubt -- his internet could be down or he is somewhere where there is no signal. Regards, Peter.

Hi John, and welcome to the club. I saw somewhere that the electrics are somewhat different on the post facelift models. In any case, I think a retro fit would be rather complicated, if not impossible. Regards, Peter.
-
Hi Leon, There are several members with a similar model who will be able to tell you what you want to know. If Jonathan [The Voices] sees this post he will give you some assistance as he works in the Motor trade. Regards, Peter.

Hi Sunny, As far as I know there is only one mechanic calling himself a Jaguar Specialist in Sutton Coldfield. I used him once and would not recommend him. I have used a mobile mechanic since 2002 who knows about cars, and has all the diagnostic equipment, who I would recommend. Contact me if you want to use him. There is a garage in Northfield which specialises in Jaguars, but other than that Colliers in Tamworth are probably the best --- but as a main dealer you will find them expensive. I also am in Sutton Coldfield. Regards, Peter.

Postcodes seem to be ultra important in determining how much you pay for your car insurance. I have just spent a day and a half getting a suitable insurance quote, and finished up with a saving of £108 against the renewal quote form my insurer of the last two years. If I lived in a rural area it would have been far cheaper. The irony is that we are only 2 miles from the border with Staffordshire whose inhabitants spend more time on the roads in the area in which we live than we do.

HI John, Water ingress can be an issue that is hard to detect. I had the same on a Ford Escort a long time ago and eventually found that it was the absence of a grommet in the wheel arch. That might be the place to look. Plasticine can be a good solution! The parking sensor issue might be solved by replacing the Cobra sensors by Jaguar ones - eBay is a good source. Meanwhile I would switch them off. Maybe those members more electrically savvy than me will have a solution. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, John. Having had the experience of other Jaguars, I think that you will enjoy your S type, which, in my opinion, is a future classic. Regards Peter.
