  1. Hi David, My son's x type had a similar problem, but as there was a drip of water from the water pump I got my mechanic to replace it. £150. Regards, Peter.
  2. Hi Colin, and welcome to the Club. The S Type will be a future classic, but I am a bit biased! I hope you enjoy the club as well as your Jaguar. The chrome lights surround can obtained from Adamesh -- I have been thinking about them for a couple of years. Regards, Peter
  3. Hi Gordon, It is possibly the satnav disc. It might be worth getting someone local to loan you their disc for a check. My hand book is not very good on troubleshooting either! Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  4. Hi Ronnie, There are two F Types around here, one white coupe and one red convertible. Neither look as smart as yours, but both look far better than the yellow Lamborghini that come out on sunny Sundays. There are quite a few S Types round here, which is not surprising as we live just 6 miles from the factory in which they were build. They still look great, too. But I am a bit biased. Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi Kenneth, David is quite right. There are members who have changed the fluid in the auto gearbox at around 70k miles and say it has benefitted the car rather well. Most garages should be able to do it, and if you have a friendly garage, make and enquiry. Regards, Peter.
  6. Hi again, Ronnie. That is a rather nice colour for a Jaguar and the black wheels go well. Regards, Peter.
  7. Welcome to the Club, Ronnie. Members wil appreciatie that caveat when using a clay bar. I hope that you will enjoy the club, and will certainly want to hear your experiences of the F Type. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Neville, It is really nice to see a member appreciating what the Club is about, and sharing experiences, good or bad, really does assist. The Moderators rarely have to apply the rules to a member, which shows how genuinely friendly and helpful the members are. Hopefully there will be some meets organised in the coming months. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Dave -- Stephen has already been in, as it were, and welcome to the club. There are a lot of members who are experts --- Paul is a wizard with all things electrical -- and some are good with a lump hammer like me! Hope you both enjoy the club. Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Gordon, I take it that your car is a diesel, as a member had the same problem with his x type 2.0 diesel. It refused to start when hot, and was told by a main dealer it was the injectors and glow plugs, which would cost him £1200 to replace. He had the terraclean service done and it was cured! Possibly a can of "Diesel Magic" would help as a starter. Regards, Peter.
  11. Welcome to the Club, Stephen. You will know more about Jaguars than me, and quite a few members! There is a member who is a professional detailer and has a wealth of knowledge. Possibly a post to him would point you in a good direction. I think his website is "Redguard" -- I will check and get back to you. Redguard Auto Spa. Their is a topic under General Forums Regards, Peter.
  12. Hi Liam, Strange, but as not an engineer this is just a guess. No exhaust gas means that no fuel is being burnt on those cylinders. But why? I think you can download a handbook which will locate the fuses for you-- just try googling. A member with a similar model will also be able to assist. Regards, Peter.
  13. Hi Gordon, I get the park brake fault notification sometimes when it is cold and wet. Even though the engine was running the park brake can stick on. I avoid jet washing, as I was advised to quite a few years ago as it was said that it could damage paintwork. Regards, Peter.
  14. H Mally, I got my updated disc from the same people, although it cost £29.95 + p&p two and a half years ago. It loaded straight away. As Paul says, you can now get them much cheaper now. Regards, Peter.
  15. Hi Matthew, and welcome to the club. I wonder if the wheels are a standard fitting or have been fitted by a previous owner. It might be worth contacting a Jaguar Dealer with your vin number and asking what the specification was when it left the factory. Worth a try. Regards, Peter.
  16. I am uncertain, Tom, but if the dashboard is similar it is worth a try. Your XF is only a tear younger than my s type and similarities must exist. Regards, Peter.
  17. HI Andrew, I don't have the experience of driving a later Jaguar model but I do think that the later models have a disc based system. In my S Type the sat nav disc system in in the boot at the left hand side which is a simple system , and has a Western Europe disc. You can check yours by looking in the boot. But I have read that you have to download any updates etc. I would be inclined to check with your Jaguar dealer, as that avenue might me the only way to get a European disc. But I feel is it is a bit remiss of Jaguar not to have a European system in your car already. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Paul, and welcome to the club. I agree --- the x type is a very good car, and Jaguars, like every car sometimes have an issue that needs attention. For every poster who asks about an issue, there must be a couple of hundred who have never had a problem with their car. We do have many members who don't mention that their cars are working perfectly, in the same way as many people don't say that they live fillet steak, but who will complain when they get a tough one. So for the record, I have an S Type diesel. I have never had a problem with the DPF. I get over 30 mpg around the city and just under 50 mpg on long runs. I have not found any rust on my car and all the electrics work! Regards, Peter.
  19. Hi Steve, Cleaning chrome is not an quick job, but it can be done without damaging the coating. I have used Solvol Autosol since my days on motor bikes to clean the exterior of chrome fittings. Muck out of tailpipes is a different job, and ~I agree with Joe on the use of Wire wool, Brillo etc Regards, Peter.
  20. HI Ian, That lighting looks great. It makes a great difference in the footwells, particularly. Where did you get the bulbs from? Peter.
  21. HI Steve, The look is great! Having a 2.7 diesel, I love the rather quiet rumble of the diesel. With a diesel you don't want it to sound like a Massey Ferguson. It is wonderful what you can do to the same car with some hard work and some technology. Regards, Peter.
  22. Very Good, Steve. You car sounds just like a 3.0 litre Sport should do. Regards, Peter/
  23. I think it is petrol, Frank, but the 3.0 litre has loads of power and the revs at 70 mph are lower than smaller engines. Regards, Peter
  24. I would have been ringing my mechanic before the 10th line Peter.
