Nice to see you here, Margaret. Is your car still going nicely? Peter.
-
Sorry that didn't work, Mark.

Hi Mark, Absolute guess, but disconnect the battery for a few minutes, making sure you have the Radio code handy. It works when the Park Brake is sticking on, so it is worth a punt. You have to reset windows etc. Regards, Peter.

HI Andrew, I am unsure as to whether it stutters a bit, but if it does I still think it is fuel related. The black smoke is a big clue. Blue smoke and pale grey smoke are more expensive types of smoke. I always use the high octane fuel, and indeed read a report this morning which did indicate that it improved performance. Regards, Peter.

Hi Andy, I am not an electrical expert, but have changed those bulbs a couple of times, and I am guessing the the connection is a bit dirty. There are several electrical experts who will advise also. Regards Peter.

Hi Andrew, and welcome to the club. Black smoke is usually fuel related. You can get some Wynns products which ought to do the trick. My son has a 2.0 litre x type diesel with the same issue, and the mechanic who services my car did a job on his last Friday, and I asked him about the black smoke. He homed in on the fuel injectors which he thought would be the issue and suggested a product called Diesel Magic which cleans the injectors You can get these products from Halfords. I put some in my car yesterday as preventative maintenance. I don't think it could be the EGR valve - it just recycles exhaust gas, and sends it on to the exhaust. I would also recommend the Terraclean service which clears out the fuel system, and does improve performance. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

Hi Russ, Last year there was a survey on the subject of tyres and the Goodyear Eagle came out top with a A grade for wet grip, with Vredestein second. I have them on the front and will put them on the rear when the Pirellis need changing. I have also seen Nexens recommended by drivers who have used them, and I think when someone you know recommends something it is a bit more accurate than something you see when buying something. Regards, Peter.

Hi Marvin, and welcome to the club. The DPF does need a full regeneration when the DPF Full warning comes up. You need to take the car for roughly 30 minutes at over 45mph after the car has reached normal operating temperature. I recently saw an additive that says that it is a DPF cleaner. I think it was a Wynns Product. I live at the edge of the Birmingham conurbation and only do about 6500 miles a year, but being retired, I take the opportunity of a nice day to go and visit somewhere -- National Trust Property etc. I have never had the warning light come on. I did see an article in a Daily Newspaper a couple of years ago about an old gentleman who was refused by a Jaguar Main dealer refused to have his XF Diesel picked up and brought to them as he had been in to them so often and had disregarded there advice about how to regenerate his DPF. That basically is the answer, and having the DPF removed is an automatic MOT fail. I would guess that Jaguar would not cover this under warranty as there is a two page reference in the Owners Manual on what to do when the amber warning light comes on. I hope this is of assistance. Regards, Peter.

Well done, Ben. You might be able to find the leather interior at a Breakers. You could also look at the idea of just replacing the current seat "covers" with the leather from other seats rather than taking out the seats, Try Breakeryard - if there are any out there they will source them for you. Regards, Peter

Hi Damon, I hope, and think, that you will succeed. You will certainly get plenty of help from the experts in this club. Regards, Peter.

Hi Tim, It would surprise many drivers to find out that the Morgan was powered by a Ford or a Rover engine, and that the Aston Martin also had Ford based engines. Car manufacturers put cars together from parts made by other companies. The only company in the UK to have a Car factory that started with a coking plant, blast furnaces, a slab mill, a foundry, sheet and bar rolling mills, and machine shops to make the parts, a press shop and finally an assembly plant was the Ford plant at Dagenham, and the bulk of which closed when the Company realised that they could buy all the products they needed from companies that produced the parts in bulk. The Ford Engine plant at Bridgend supplies engines for many other car manufacturers, and I would like to bet that the Jaguar Engine plant in Wolverhampton will also aim to do the same. Peter.

I use a basic generic OBD2 code reader. Joe is quite right, it just reads engine codes. It cost £20 If I have an issue I cannot resolve, my mechanic who has serviced my cars for 13 years has a diagnostic tool that cost £2500. Quite a difference! Peter.

As does mine - 2.7 Diesel

Hi Dan, and welcome to the Club. It is great to see some younger people getting their hands on S Types. And BRG can look great in the sun when kept nicely washed and polished. I was 79 when I bought my S Type Indigo Blue Pearlescent ---- and I think it keeps me young. If you ever go to the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon near Coventry, you will see an S type in BRG which was actually raced by Jaguar. It is not a 3.0 or 4.2 litre but a 2.7 litre diesel! Great cars! I hope you enjoy your Jaguar and also the Club. Regards, Peter.

Hi Gary, Glad the paperwork is now sorted out. Now you can let Mona's Isle see a great car. Regards, Peter.

The sea air does play havoc with car undersides, as does salt on the roads.

Hi Damon, Sometimes air conditioning systems do have a little drip such as you describe. I was surprise when my first Jaguar didn't have one, and my two previous cars both had such little drip as you describe. Is the air con working OK though? Regards Peter.

Hi Haydn, Are you thinking of going to the Jaguar Breakfast Club at Gaydon on the 7th May? If you are we could have a chat about a meet at Mallory Park later in the year --- time to build up some enthusiasm! There have been a few new members asking about the possibility of a club meet sometime, and I think that Mallory Park would be an ideal Venue. Regards, Peter.

Thank you, Steve. My s type has the 2.7 litre Gemini which was the earliest engine in the XF, later replaced by the 3.0 litre. Just to be on the safe side, I will have my mechanic check it out when it is serviced soon. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Nicholas. I have the s type 2.7 SE and as your say, a really smooth ride. The F Pace looks to be a really nice car, and I hope you enjoy the test drive. Regards, Peter.

Mine's dark blue, Haydn, but they could do one with mine if they want!

Hi Mark, and welcome to the Club. Nev has not been around lately, but I guess that if it hadn't he would have said something. Regards, Peter.

Hi Neal, I have just been out to see if any frost was left on my car, but none to be found. Just to see how mine worked because I rarely need to use the defrost. But when My windscreen was replaced by auto glass there was only one electrical connection. Regards, Peter.

Hi Simon, Your s type is the only Jaguar I have seen with an lpg conversion -- but you never know. The could be others around. Peter.

I will probably be going, Joe. It looks like a good place to be. Peter.
