Hi Mally, The s type you have is the same year as mine and also the 2.7 Diesel - which is a great engine. It needs a good run once a month to regenerate the DPF, and a nice little run up the M6 or through Rainford, and Ormskirk to Aisdale will do. I lived in Widnes for 32 years before emigrating to Wales, Derbyshire, and now here in the west Midlands. The S type does not need modifications - but some items not fitted by Jaguar can be retrofitted, and Paul is the expert in that field. Hi David, When you change the battery eventually have the radio code ready to make it easier for you. Some people do use the power pack though. Paul has written up the procedure -- you need it when the Parkbrake fault comes up - which is very useful. Regards, Peter.

Hi Gary, I had a Honda 250 Dream - but a bit unique as it was one of the first 6 Honda Dreams [250c to come into the UK. I was "breathed on" by Bill Smith who won a couple of TTs, and was faster than a few 500cc motor bikes, and could touch 115 mph. It was quicker than my Triumph T100 which could reach a touch over 100 mph. Joking a bit about the IOM mountains -- I would love to take my S Type [208 bhp] over them. The big diesel loves the hills, and proved it last weekend in the Lake District. The only problem I have is that my wife thinks that at 81 I am too old for speed! Regards, Peter.

I have been on the Island on quite a few occasions, and even walked to the top of Snaefell a few times. But I have never taken a car over, although my Honda did like the mountain roads, but thought them a bit tame after the passes in the Lake District, the Winnats and the Cat and Fiddle in Derbyshire, as well as the Horseshoe Pass near Llangollen. Hi Shane, I tested out my s type this morning. It is a 2.7 litre diesel so the revs be not show a direct comparison, Driving normally the gearbox went into 6th gear at 55 mph and at 70 mph was cruising nicely at 2000 rpm. Just a comparison that is not too accurate, I would think that your car should go into top gear at 55 mph. Hope this helps, Regards, Peter.

Hi Steve, Not cheap -- agreed! But mine was free!!! I was born and lived in Widnes for 32 years. Merseyside is still in the County Palatine of Lancashire, as is Widnes. It is only the Administrative Borders that were changed. From Widnes, work took me to North Wales, Derbyshire, and in 1982 Sutton Coldfield in the County of Warwickshire, which not sits in the Administrative area called the West Midlands. Regards, Peter.

Hydrophobic means Fear of Water -- O Level Greek in 1951! It is water resistance. I am using a Supernatural Car care product because I won it, and being from Lancashire I don't waste anything! Miles at Redguard will give you good advice as to the best product, and I believe good detailing products can be bought online from their site at a good price. Elbow grease is not supplied, though. Alloys wheels do bring a few issues to light. The old fashioned steel wheels seems never to get "kerbed" and the hub caps were easy to clean [and easy to steal]. My wheels have been kerbed by a previous owner and need a refurbishment, and being a pensioner, I need to count the pennies somewhat. There is a local company in Lichfield with a good reputation, and hopefully in the summer I will have all 5 done -- I have a matching "proper" factory issued spare as specified by the first owner. A lot depends on what the MOT throws up in June. Peter.

You have the 5 speed Ford gearbox, and my s type has the ZF 6 speed gearbox so I cannot give you a comparison. But there will be some members with a similar model to yours who will assist. Hi Steve, It is called Supernatural Hybrid from Supernatural car care. It is a sealant wax to be used after a spray preparation. I think you can buy the kit. I won it two years ago at a club meet on Derbyshire, the best car on the day. It is a top end detailing product - just look at their site on the internet -- it has everything from £6.95 to a full set of almost all their products for £499. It really needs three coats after using the spray on preparation then you just wash and dry and come back next year! It does protect form rain. Regards, Peter. First stages done, and first layer of paint protection on the boot - starting at the back and working to the front. Comes out quite nice for a first layer. And I think I got a photo of a finch that has a nest in the eaves of the house.

Welcome to the Club, Gary. There are a few places on the IOM that can test your car, and I bet you will enjoy doing it. The first time I went to the IOM was on holiday in 1938! Not many cars around then. I have also been there when there were a lot of Motor Cycles, and a guy named Jeff Duke riding one of them. Great place to show off your car. After 600 miles on the road last weekend, I have certain mundane things to do. 1. Wash the car using warm water. 2. Shampoo the car - good quality shampoo. I use AutoGlym shampoo and conditioner. 3. Rinse off and dry car using a Halfords drying towel. 4. I will then apply 3 coats of a paint protective wax, giving the car a good buff up after each coat. Today was the day 9 years ago that my car was first registered, and I thought what I have done to it it since buying it in June 2013, ------ Leaping Jaguar on Bonnet. Small Leaper on boot lid. Hi Charlie, One of the things that can cause excess noise is Tyre noise. The EU have specific regulations concerning tyre noise and the tyres that came out top --"A" rated -- were Goodyear Eagle XL Asymmetric. I had those fitted on my s type diesel last year and they made a great difference as against the Pirellis that were there. Carpets can make a difference, but you are using a new Mondeo, which will have newer carpets and newer tyres. My S type 2.7 D is as quiet as a mouse and other than tyres and a small carpet repair I have none nothing other than having a terraclean and using premium fuel. Regards, Peter.
