  1. Hi Gareth, Assuming that the leather is badly worn and beyond restoration, a good option is looking for a new seat entirely. If it is just showing signs of wear, it is possible to refurbish the leather yourself using a good cleaner and also a good leather feeder. I have seen on TV a seat restoration in which the leather has been "repainted" when very worn, and a good job it was. I think you would be able to find this company online and, from memory, the seat colour can be matched by them and the job done probably without removing the seat. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  2. Would a homing pigeon be better than a Sat Nav?
  3. Hi Owen, and welcome to the club. I fell in love with the MK2 but was so skint I had to wait till I got older and the mortgage was paid off before I could think of a Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  4. Hi Ross, I am unsure about the window trim, but I am looking for some for my son. I will let you know if i find any. Regards, Peter.
  5. Welcome to the Club, David. The XF is a very good car, but nothing matches the XJ8 in the comfort stakes. I think you will be able to find material regarding maintenance on the internet. I haven't looked myself, not having an XF, but there is quite a bit about other models, I hope you enjoy your car and also enjoy the club. Regards, Peter.
  6. Hi Walter, and welcome to the club. As far as the hat is concerned I can recommend a flat cap. The sound on the sat nat can be altered in Volume setting on the touchscreen if you have one, but the radio needs to be on, and the mute button needs switching off. Regards, Peter.
  7. Hi Allan, The s type is a very nice car -- a real head turner, and the 2.7 Diesel is a very quick and solid engine. When you find a niggle, there will always be someone who can find the answer. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Andy, The first time it happened to me I called out Britannia Rescue, and the guy who came out with a huge tow truck said "I know nothing about these modern cars, and as it is an automatic I can't tow it to a dealer". My son-in-law googled the issue and that answer came up. Regards, Peter
  9. Hi Andy, I would just disconnect the battery, reconnect, and try again. Worth a shot. Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Jim, I did ask you to read the rules which are quite clear. "Any member opposing a Moderator's decision should do so with the Moderator directly by using PM or email in a professional manner". You have chosen not to do so. However, I do believe that I deal with things a professional manner and so I have sent you by PM the exact words you used, and which I believe I interpreted correctly, and acted correctly according to the Rules of the Club. So, acting in a professional manner, I made a copy of your post. Regards, Peter.
  11. Jim, I reiterate, please read the Club rules. "Any member opposing a Moderators decision should do so directly with the Moderator by using PM or email in a professional manner" Peter.
  12. Jim, Please read the Club Rules. Criticism of members spelling etc can be offensive to the member. Peter.
  13. Welcome to the Club, Adrian. The x type is a nice car and a pleasure to drive. My son has just bought and X type Estate with the same engine -- a good workhorse and very economical. Regards, Peter.
  14. Hi David and welcome to the club. When I had the same issue - intermittent movement, I sprayed the rails with WD40 and it started working again. If that doesn't work, Joe has given you the other option. Regards, Peter.
  15. Hi Haysie, There will be an update for the Sat Nav for the XF but I don't think there is a speed camera facility on it. Regards Peter.
  16. Welcome to the club, Derek. Glad you like the club, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as you will enjoy your car. There are a very friendly bunch of people here who will assist with any issue you have. Regards, Peter.
  17. Welcome to the Club, John. That is a very useful post, as there are members with CD changer difficulties or indeed the lack of a CD Changer, Experiences are valuable. Regards, Peter.
  18. Looks good, Ian.
  19. The S Type dipstick can drag up oil from the sump due to its design. I check my oil every week and when I pull out the dipstick it is usually below the maximum mark and after I have wiped it and dipped it again it usually reads just over the maximum mark. My car had a new engine at 28k while in Jaguar ownership, and I often wonder if the dipstick tube was slightly bent when being refitted. Curious --- but the car is running beautifully and the no warnings at all. Peter.
  20. Hi Neil, I have heard of a tyre recall quite a long time ago. I had a friend who was the Area Manager for a Tyre Manufacturer when I lived in North Wales. The recall was on certain Vauxhall Vehicles that had apparently been fitted with tyres not suited to the Model in question. The technical bits I don't know anything about, but I do know that it was kept quiet. Regards, Peter.
  21. Hi Ralph, Success! The DSC/ABS notice sometimes pops up on my s type and then disappears. You will find out what it is with your experience - and I guess it will be nothing serious. Regards, Peter.
  22. Hi Matt, and welcome to the club. Diesel engines do take a bit longer to warm up, and I have found that in the cold weather my S Type 2.7D takes about 10 - 12 miles [about 20 minutes] before it reaches normal operating temperature. It is something I experienced with a 2.0 litre Rover Diesel some years ago, so was long at it gets there I am not too bothered. This has probably saved me some money! Garages are like the Light Brigade --- What a Charge they Made! Regards, Peter.
  23. And when the sun is shining ---------- Peter.
  24. Hi Joan, I don't know how to do it, but I know a man who does. I am sure Paul [Raistlin] will tell you how when he sees this post. Regards, Peter.
  25. Welcome to the Club, Ian. The s type is a nice car and you won't regret buying it. Being in the Motor Trade you experience will benefit the Members of the Club. There are quite a few members in the West Midlands and hopefully there will be a meet later in the year to follow the one we had in September at the Classic car museum at Gaydon, Regards, Peter.
