Hi Andrew, Most modern cars have loads of electrical sensors and if something quite minor needs attention the EML comes on. Getting a diagnostic tool such as an OBD2 side scanner [ £20 off eBay] will tell you the code, a quick google will tell you what it means, and another quick request to the club members will tell you the solution. My son has just bought an X Type Sport estate 2.0D with 91k on the clock on an 06 plate for £3,250, so I am sure you will find one within your budget. Regards, Peter.

Hi Ian, I had one badly worn mat in my s type when I bough it. £3 at Halfords bought me a rubber mat which I cut to the right size to cover the worn out bit and a good brushing with a stiff brush made the mat as good as new. Peter.

Welcome to the club, Andrew. Whoever said that the x type is not "a proper Jaguar" has obviously never driven one. Sure, there are bits that were not made by Jaguar, but you would not call a Rolls Royce "not a proper Roller" because it had a Buick engine - which it did till BMW/VW took the company over. The XJ, with the 2.7 Diesel engine [made as a joint venture between Ford and Peugeot] is a fine engine and no-one would call that "not a proper Jaguar". Both great cars. Welcome to the Club, Ross. The 2.7 diesel is a very good engine, but you must give it a longish run at least once a month to regenerate the DPF -- a great excuse for a good day out! You might be able to get the trim from a Jaguar breaker, but the it possible to get some new fro, some one like SNG Barrett or the David Manners group. I hope you enjoy the club and your S Type. Just a quick comment on Jo-Jags --- they are usually very honest people in the area in which they operate -- I was born and lived close to their premises for 33 years! It is a small unit on an Industrial estate in Speke and i think they are fly-by-nights! Peter.

Hi John, and welcome to the club. Paul [Raislin] has posted a very useful document on this subject and if you can find it I would print it off and keep it wth your handbook. I have this problem now and then and it does not take long to fix. First, make sure that you have the radio code the disconnect the battery for a short time making sure the ignition is turned off and you have your key in your pocket. Reconnect the battery -- your will hear the alarm go off which you will switch off and then get into the car and depress the footbrake and the parking brake. This will free the brake. You will then put in the radio code, and reset your radio channels. With your engine running on tickover, reset you windows, each one individually, and while your engine is running reset your clock, and sound volume preferences. I had to do this on Wednesday! Hi Ash, and Welcome to the club. Sometime a car slips through the inspection net even in Germany. This is not to condone the delayed action by Jaguar Australia. I once had a company car delivered to me with 5 dents in the body and a complete electrical failure with the lights and indicators. Ford were very apologetic and made the repair in the dents and electrics very quickly with an excellent respray. A few years later I met the guy who had bought the car when it went up for sale, and he told be that it was the best car he had ever had. I would have been inclined to take the repair and respray as often these independent body shops do a very good job. Regards, Peter

Hi Phil, When I bought my S type, I was told by the salesman [Main Dealer] that the disc in the Satnav was the 2006 disc. The cost of an update was "an exorbitant £161" in his words and that I could buy one for less than £30, which i did. Peter.

HI Paul, I drive to Lichfield every week when we have the grandchildren for a few hours, It is between 10 and 12 miles and on a very cold day the temperature gauge does not get to its normal vertical position, but on a warm day it does just as we get there. After my first Jaguar was stolen and my insurance was pushed up by over £200, I did what Jim has suggested and eventually found a company recommended by another member which gave a lot of options, including a 12.5% reduction for having a Nextbase Dashcam. Under £500 in spite of Birmingham being one of those areas where premiums are higher. Regards Peter.

Welcome to the club, Bryan. I knew a guy who always bought late model cars, sometime new just after a new model came out -- good price and the gremlins all gone. The criteria I used when getting my S type was as late a model that was available, a 2.7 diesel with a low mileage, touch screen with Bluetooth and satnav. I found one within two weeks of intense search, Indigo blue with Dove grey leather and charcoal and grey trim. Great cars, Regards, Peter,

Hi Russ, I paid £228 for the two plus £25 to have the tracking checked and corrected slightly. I got them from Halfords who will match or reduce other local dealers. There is a Kwik Fit 500 yards away who were charging £230! Peter.

Hi Deb, and welcome to the club. I have the instruction book for the s type and I followed that to pair my iPhone and it took about 5 minutes. I have the touchscreen, though. First you have to have Bluetooth. You have then to select Phone Mode and then use the touch screen to enter the following digit sequence Hash tag -- hash tag -- 3 -- hash tag -- * -- hash tag [my laptop can't do hash tags] The discovery screen should then be shown. Check your mobile phone is connected to Bluetooth, if not switch it on. When Jaguar device is found you will be prompted to enter the pass key [1313] on your mobile phone key pad. When the phone is successfully paired the Phone connected screen is displayed. Let us know how you get on. If you have not got the touchscreen the process is via the audio system. Hi Russ, I replaced the Pirellis on my front wheels last year after some research on both cost and the EU standards as well as quietness. I did the search through Halfords website [you don't have to buy the tyres there] and found that the top two were Goodyear Eagle asymmetric and Vredestein. I put Goodyear on as they were A rated in the wet for stopping. Thy are rather good and very quiet, and when the rear tyres [Pirellis] need replacing Goodyears will go there. I do know that Nexens are well respected and there are some members who also speak highly of them from their own experience. But you are quite correct in thinking that each axle should have the same tyres on them with the same wear. Regards, Peter.

Hi Martin, One faulty sensor wouldn't knock the others out. You could check a fuse or look at the connections on the module. Otherwise as Jim says, you could need a new one. Regards Peter.

Hi Andre, and welcome to the club. On the light white smoke I too am guessing that it could be condensation. On the auxiliary access, my son who has an x type, tells me that there is little gadget from Belkin which costs about £70 which he intends to get that says on the packet will connect his iPhone to his car.
