  1. It would only be £70 for half an hour!!!
  2. Hi Steve, First make sure that you have the radio code. Disconnect the battery - you will need two different sized of spanner. Wait a few minutes, then reconnect the battery. The alarm will go off. All your settings - clock, radio, sometime the satnav will need the sound resetting, and then the window settings - full one press drop & return - each window individually. I found it out when we were just about to go Leeds on New Years day and I had to call out Britannia Rescue --- the man did not know anything about modern cars, in his words! My son in law googled it and there you are. Regards, Peter.
  3. The car has sat two days on the drive -- two cold days and nights. This morning the message "Parkbrake Fault" appeared and the car would not move. I know how to release the Parkbrake, but ask the question why do the two battery leads need different sizes of spanner? Peter.
  4. That is the best I have heard, Paul. Very quick. Put the name and address of that breaker on the site, as I think it will be very useful. Peter.
  5. Welcome to the Club, Matt. I know how you feel when you leave a car you have cherished for years. I left my Rover 825 Sterling with 122k miles on the clock on the forecourt of a Jaguar dealer after I had had it for over 11 years. I was told by the Jaguar salesman that I would never drive another make of car. True. I now drive my second Jaguar, a car I have wanted from the days of the Mk1 and Mk2 Jaguars, an S Type. You will enjoy your Jaguar, and I hope you will enjoy the Club. Regards, Peter.
  6. I din't know that, Paul. I guess Jaguar are thinking along the 4 x 4 as a replacement. Regards, Peter.
  7. Welcome to the Club, Paul. Nice car -- I was picked up in one when I was collecting my S Type two and a half years ago. I have not seen many around even though I live only a few miles from the factory. Jaguar knew what they were doing when they designed this model. It will be one of their best sellers. Regards, Peter
  8. Hi Adrian, The first long run I had after having my s type terracleaned --- 90 miles --- was half on motorway with a speed restriction to 50 mph and the rest city and some dual carriageway I achieved 50.6 mg. The return journey with some motorway without restrictions and heavy traffic on the other roads brought the average down to 46.4. I usually get about 33 mpg from a tankful without any long runs. Peter.
  9. Hi Robin, The key entry is the safeguard for an occasion when the battery is flat. Some Jaguar models don't have this facility. Peter.
  10. Probably lots, Keith. I don't know if it is the same on prefacelift models, but have you opened the boot with the key, yet? Peter.
  11. I don't know if anyone remembers the time when an ammeter was fitted to cars. It would be a useful addition nowadays, When I had a caravan, which depended a lot on a good battery, there was an ammeter fitted on the caravan's instrument panel. Peter.
  12. I took a photo opportunity this morning.
  13. Welcome to the club, Terry. There are many members with great skills in matters such as upgrades and retro fits. I am sure that good advice will soon appear. Regards, Peter.
  14. Welcome to the club, Mark. Don worry about photos in the bad weather. The S Type is photogenic in all weather, and in fact, can be used tp create an image. Below is the bonnet of my S Type in the rain. Regards, Peter.
  15. Hi Keith, and welcome to the club. A very useful feature when you have left a window open. Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Phil, There is a section on the Club Forums for For Sale items. I would suggest that you take some photographs and put them on the XF forum. You could well get some interest. Regards, Peter.
  17. Welcome to the club, Tony. The S Type is a very nice car and in my opinion is a future classic. Nice to see you enjoy the Club. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Kenny, Sticking to what you know is a good maxim. Frequently, the element of confidence you get is worth any extra money you have to pay. Regards, Peter.
  19. Hi David, Nice wheels. They look good on Blue cars too! Peter.
  20. Welcome to the Club, Alan. The X Type is a fine car - I had a 2.5 litre AWD Petrol before getting my S Type. Jaguars do like fully functioning batteries, and if you get 5 years from a battery you are going OK. Enjoy your car! Regards, Peter.
  21. Welcome to the club, John. Andy has given you the answer. I am assuming all the other lights come on on startup. Regards, Peter.
  22. Welcome to the Club, Souhrada. I think you did get a great deal - your Jaguar looks in mint condition. Key fobs can be a pain, but can usually be cured white cheaply by an auto locksmith or an auto electrician. In the UK there are quite a few mobile auto locksmiths, so you could try googling to se if there are any similar people in the USA. Regards, Peter.
  23. Welcome to the club, Matt. Does your s type go into "restricted performance" or does the message just come up? I would go back to the garage who did the job and see what they say. Regards, Peter.
  24. The newest S Types are now 8 years old, and many are looking like new, which shows that they are a good car to own and look after. Mine has only done 65k and drives like a dream. Peter. Photo snapped yesterday - needs a good wash but still looks good.
  25. Hi Joe, Teething problems are being solved, and Steve is working overtime! Regards, Peter.
