Hi Eddie, A bit early, but much to d today while the weather is [hopefully] going to be a bit better. That sounds like a result! Suppliers are under pressure, and rightly so, to provide high quality parts. I was once at a supplier of the steel that is used for petrol tanks who showed me a tank that Had been returned by Rover because it had holes in it, which is not good for a petrol tank. The cost to that steel supplier was quite high, as they had to trace the steel that was used by them for the special coating to inhibit rust, An investigation found that it had come from Port Talbot, and the specific 16 tonne coil of steel had to be traced and all the places where parts of it had gone to had also to be traced. A lot of petrol tanks had to be recalled. It cost a few shillings! Lesson learned Happy motoring! Peter.

Hi Joe, Steve has given you the answer, but the new site appears to be unable for the Mods to delete. Steve will sort t out though! Peter.

Welcome to the Club, John. Getting involved what the club is about. Members sharing experiences is of great assistance to others. Regards, Peter.

Hi Tim, A towbar on the car usually wins when it is arguing with a wall! Peter.

Hi Steve, It seems to have cleared that problem. However, it also seems that the Moderators can no longer delete posts, which was rather useful for the odd spammers we have had. Regards, Peter.

Hi Jim, I think that Terraclean is the best option. It cleans out the whole of the few system, and is particularly good with the diesel engine and did work with another member's 2.0 litre diesel. Peter

Me Joe. And sometimes three times. In the interests of keeping such repetitions to the intended post, I delete the unintended. Peter.

Hi Paul, My local Shell station is still at £1.059 a litre, but the Shell Station in Lichfield is £1.019. Another nudge and it will be under £1. I am hoping it will change back to gallons from litres! Peter.

I asked Steve [Admin] about this. Glad it is solved. Peter.

I want to buy and XKR - any help?
Old Peter replied to Graham Hove's topic in New Members Introductions
Welcome to the Club, Graham. The XKR is a great car, but I drive an S Type [also a great car] and I can't advise on theXKR, but there are quite a few members who own one of these classics of the future and who will you some great advice. Regards, Peter. -
Hi Kenny, I had never had a varta battery until this one, but found that my car, which was owned by someone living in the Cotswolds in a particularly pricey village, had the car serviced by a main dealer, and the battery was fitted by that dealer. This reassured me on the quality. My car sits on the driveway, as it won't fit into the garage, for two reasons -- Firstly the width, and secondly the collection of impedimenta left my my daughter to keep while she finds accommodation big enough. That was the reason when the went to University, and 20 years later most of it is still there. I do get the occasional longer run, but I do charge it occasionally, and I have a little widget I plug in to the power source which indicates the battery condition and charge when the engine is running. Regards, Peter.

Hi Simon, I find that my s type settings gives me very good performance from the radio. I just have the normal Jaguar fitted radio and speakers. Have you checked out the settings? Peter.

Welcome to the club, Robin. The Jaguar experience is unique, in my opinion. As you say, the ride is rather good, and my S Type is the best car I have driven in the sixty years I have been on the road. Regards Peter.

Hello all jag lovers Newbie here question re warranty
Old Peter replied to Jagsrb's topic in New Members Introductions
Welcome to the Club, Nenad. I think it is rather peculiar that the seals should have perished so quickly. I was once told that the discs on my Rover Sterling and needed replacing. I sought an opinion from my mobile mechanic and he told me that they were OK -- and indeed they passed the MOT without an advisory for the next three years. Oil leaks are not normal and let no-one tell you so. I would find an independent Jaguar specialist -- there is one in Doncaster who has some good reports from members, and get some independent advice, and probably a better financial deal on their replacement if necessary. Regards, Peter. -
Hi Tim, It is a Saga, but I fail to understand why the quote has been increased by the Jaguar dealer in La Rochelle. After all, a quote is a quote and not an estimate. I would continue to pester Jaguar UK. I have now been retired for almost 17 years and my contacts in the automotive industry have disappeared into that dealership in the sky. I used to have some very good contacts in the SMMT - The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders - and it might be well worth checking their website to see who the Boss Man/Woman is. I think that you could send a letter to him/her and copies of your correspondence and Jaguar will know by the cc at the bottom of your letter that you are not going to go away. My car had an engine change at 29k due to an oil pump failure, by it was owned by a Jaguar dealership and under warranty at the time. Good Luck. Peter.

Hi Eddie, Jaguar will have had the part supplied to them by a manufacturer of intercoolers, and will no doubt send it back to that manufacturer with a strong complaint that it was not fit for purpose. The manufacturer will not wish to offend Jaguar and will replace it without charge. I would like to hear Jaguar's reply [and the manufacturers] Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Ashaunte. Jaguars and most other modern cars have so much electrical equipment that a fully functional battery is important. I think the local dealership was correct inter diagnosis. Regards, Peter.
-
Welcome to the Club, Paul. The members of the club are a friendly group of people who share their experience and skills. I hope you will enjoy the Club as much as you will enjoy your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Jimmy. Knowing the best people for updating the SatNav disc is very useful. Sometimes you get a dud from untried sources. Regards, Peter.

That's not too far from me, Jim. I'm no engineer but I have got to know a bit about problems, and what to do to sort it out. I will PM you. Regards, Peter.

Hi Jim, It could be worth getting the AA out to get their Code Scanner plugged in if it costs you nothing. I have an OBD2 scanner myself, which is very handy -- what part of Staffordshire are you from, as I live only two miles from the border. I found the terrackean service very good as it improved both mpg and performance on my s type, Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

Hi Aaron, The S Type 2.7 diesel has two EGR valves and they cannot be blanked off for some technical reason. When I get the warning light with Code P0402 I either gove the car a good blast, or use a can to Wynns Diesel EGR cleaner. Peter.

Hi Kenny, The battery fitted by Jaguar on my car is a Varta. It is now four years and has never let me down. Regards, Peter.

Hi Jim. A member had the same problem about 18 months ago. His 2.0 litre X Type Diesel would not start, and when he took it to a local dealer the bad news that he got was that the injectors and glow plugs needed changing -- and they could do that for only £1200 plus VAT. The good news was that he had the Terraclean service for £109 and the car never had that problem again. There is a Mobile mechanic in South Staffordshire who does the service : James Price -Mpbile technician/mechanic Telephone Number 07949 137629. He did the service on my drive on my 2.7 Diesel S Type. Regards, Peter.
