  1. Hi Paul, and welcome to the Club. I have never come across this one before. I think that the first thing you should check is your battery, and then try to pair the 'phone again. Let us know how you get on, Regards, Peter.
  2. I hope so, Steve. I have always said that if it isn't broken, don't fit it --- but times change and we must change with them. My toolkit used to be a stillson number 8 and a lump hammer! Peter.
  3. Hi Steve, There are changes I have not yet been able to grasp. I use a macbookPro and find it OK, and have not explored everything -- yet! I don't think there should be difficulties with an iPad, I will try to find out more Regards, Peter.
  4. Hi CBers, I didn't know that there was going to be a change. I have emailed Steve asking some minor questions, and when I get a reply I will mention Tapatalk. Regards, Peter.
  5. Just a question: I am still trying to get used to the new Website layout. How are others finding it? I can see some big improvements, and there is no doubt I will get used to it. Peter.
  6. Hi Frank, I was introduced to the Lake District in 1946 when our Scout Group camped in Ambleside, and I can't count the number of times I have visited and taken taken holidays in the Lake District. My first date with the young lady who became my wife was a trip on my Triumph T100 to Windermere [An engine blowout on the way back saw the Triumph going for spares], and our honeymoon was spent in Keswick. My 80th Birthday was spent with the whole of my family in Whinfell Forest at Centre Parcs - which was the only place the 12 of us could get suitable accommodation. I have been all over the world [except the Antipodes] but there is no place better than that little corner of England. Regards, Peter.
  7. Welcome to the Club, Frank. I can't get to grips with South Cumbria --- Westmorland and parts of Lancashire used to be almost my second home when I was younger and could spend a weekend getting to the top of the beautiful mountains in that area. I also was a biker in the sixties - Triumph T100, and one of the first Honda's to come into the UK. The S Type is a great car to drive, and the best one I have ever driven in 60 years on the road. My S Type is the 2.7 diesel and is very good on the fuel consumption, although my speed is controlled by SWMBO these days. I think you will soon get a feeling for the big cat. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Pete, The S type has only got cruise control switches on the steering wheel. It is possible that cruise control is not fitted. Peter.
  9. Hi Steve, James will get back to you. He has probably been on holiday, as he is a quite young man with a young family, and usually go on holiday during the school holidays. It is useful to have his number, though. Peter.
  10. It does seem to make your car look a bit shorter as there is no emphasis at the front. I have seen a black mesh grille locally on a Black s type Sport --- I don't think it looks as good as the standard mesh grille, though. Peter.
  11. Welcome to the Club, David. The X Type 2.0 litre diesel is a very frugal car. My son has the Estate version, and he says it does not use any fun at all but I think he exaggerates. Regards, Peter.
  12. Very useful, Frank. The BlueTooth code scanner seems good, too. Peter
  13. Welcome to the club, Simon. Your car does look rather good --- different from mine!! Regards, Peter
  14. Glad its done, Chaz.. Jaguars do like their batteries to be working well, otherwise they will get a bit snotty with you! Peter.
  15. I wanted an S Type since I saw a friend restoring a Mk1. I couldn't afford a Mk2, and when the opportunity arose I bought one of the last S Type off the production line. My neighbours are friends do seem somewhat jealous and I think my sisters regard me as adventurous. My grandchildren love the car, as does my wife, and I wish I could have afforded one when I was younger. Peter.
  16. Except, of course, if the lock mechanism is damaged. It does appear that the modern Jaguar does not have some of the advantages that the older cars have, such as a key entry into the boot, and a dipstick! :D
  17. As was mine -- it looked like a genuine Denso disc. When I bought my car the salesman -- main dealer -- told me that discs from Jaguar were too expensive and I could get genuine discs from other sources, Mine did cost £30, though! Peter.
  18. Ten past four and all done.
  19. My 2012/13 disc from SatNav updates has worked very well. I could not check it against the original disc which I loaned to a member [who does not post anymore] to check out his SatNav as there was no disc in it when he bought it. Sadly, he must have thought it was a non returnable loan, as he never sent it back. Peter.
  20. First, looked out of the window to see if it was still there. Second, thought about washing and drying her. And on the to do list, check oil and top up screen wash. Then go to Lichfield to pick up two grandchildren from school. Peter.
  21. Hi Stephen, Just google James Price Mobile mechanic/Technician He did the terranclean service on my car and my son's. Peter. P.S. Mobile Number [James Price] 07949 137629 If you are not too far away from me, I have an OBD2 reader you can use. I am in Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield.
  22. Hi Stephen, The amber light is a warning that something needs attention. You really need an OBD2 Scanner to find out what is the problem. My s type handbook says it might go into limp mode, but if it hasn't done that you just drive with caution, as the handbook says. A main dealer will plug it in to the diagnostic system, but will charge you about £70 for the time on their diagnostic kit. What part of Staffordshire are you in, as there is a Mobile mechanic in the South of the County-- Look him up on his website ----- James Price ---- and he might be able to help. Regards, Peter.
  23. Hi Graham, In damp weather I usually blame that for making such noises and give the engine a good spray of WD40. Peter.
  24. Hi Stephen, Petrol or diesel? If it is the diesel it could be the EGR valves getting sticky and not opening. I sometimes get that on my S Type [Code P0402]. A good blast sometimes years it and failing that I use a can of Wynns Diesel EGR cleaner. Regards, Peter.
  25. Forgetting to do that is easily done. Mine would not take me home once as it didn't know how to get out of Belgium. Peter.
