  1. Hi Dale, and Welcome to the club. The S type and the XJ are similar in interior design, and I know exactly what you mean. I have looked through my handbook and there does not appear to be any information [other than it is not fitted uncertain countries] which does indicate that there must be a sensor or fuse at fault. The cheapest way to go is to check the fuse. Regards, Peter.
  2. This topic appears to have moved from its original intention. I must advise posters that moving off topic is a great nuisance to the original poster who is both giving useful information and requesting idea on an issue. I trust all posters will comply. Regards, Peter.
  3. Welcome to the Club Erion. There have been quite a few posts in the past about having the 3 litre engine remapped, and maybe someone who has had it done will tell you of any benefits gained. Getting a car modified can have insurance and MOT issues, though. Peter.
  4. Hi Roger, and welcome to the club. Have you switched on Bluetooth on your phone and then followed the procedure for pairing it, as in the Owners Handbook - In Car Telephone? The Car will recognise your phone and if so, you are OK. Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi Dave and welcome to the club. I have never had problems with supermarket fuels, but I have been advised that the additives put in by the major suppliers - Shell, Esso, BP etc do make it superior and can give a much better performance. I put in a tankful of standard Shell diesel last week[ a Shell Garage is 500 yards away ] and did my normal local drives -- supermarket, into the town centre, and picking up the grandchildren from school, with the longest run being a 40 mile round trip. My car [ 2.7 diesel ] did 23.9 mpg. I had been getting 28 mpg with Shell V Power. Today I had to go to Watford, a 200 miles round trip on a very busy M1 and M6 with some static traffic at rush hour. I was rather pleased with 46.4 miles per gallon --- I had topped up the tank which was half full, with Shell V Power! I do think the more expensive stuff makes a difference, and at the moment I am getting between £8 and £10 every three month fro Shell Drivers Club which makes a bit of a difference, Regards, Peter.
  6. Welcome to the Club, Ian. Some drivers give a wave, but to many a Jaguar is just a car - pity, as we owners think a Jaguar is something special. Enjoy your Jaguar - it won't be your last! . Regards Peter.
  7. We beg to crave your momentary indulgence in order to discharge a by no means disagreeable obligation which has over the years become more or less established practice, within the circles in which we move, as we approach the terminal period of the year -- calendar, of course, not financial -- in fact, not to put too fine a point on it, week fifty one of the year -- and we would like to submit to you with all appropriate deference, for your expectation, indeed confidence, and indeed one might go so far as to say hope that the aforementioned period may, at the end of the day, when all relevant factors have been taken into consideration , be susceptible of being deemed to be such as to merit a verdict of having been by no means unsatisfactory in its overall outcome and, in the final analysis, to give grounds for being conductive to generating a degree of gratification, relaxation and celebration which will be seen in retrospect to have been significantly higher than the general average. HAPPY CHRISTMAS.

  9. Hi Paul, I think nicer and warmer weather will see more members interested. I think some Jaguars hibernate in this weather. I an going to Watford today -- Morgana will have a long run -- I am not looking forward though to the M1 and M6 coming back, although if traffic is bad the A5 will come in handy. Regards, Peter.
  10. Welcome to the club, Bernard. I wish that dealer was near me -- 10 minutes here costs £69 from a main dealer. Regards, Peter.
  11. Welcome to the club, Jamie. Jamie and Anthony --- this question came up a couple of years ago and I posted a link to a site called fixya. I also advised that the best way to go to the site to save money was to google:- Jaguar 2.7 diesel - changing glow plugs Both the members who used the link found that the job was not too hard. Regards Peter.
  12. I do not use the horns very often, but when I do I like a bit of authority from them, and the S Type does not have the majesty required. I also will have a look. Peter.
  13. The 18" alloys look about the best for the s type in my opinion. Peter
  14. Hi Paul, and welcome to the club. The S Type is a great car to drive and does turn heads, even round here where they are made. I am rather surprised that you are visiting the Petrol Station a lot, as I am finding the 2.7D engine rather frugal. A lot depends on driving techniques as well as the fuel you are using. Also, it is worth having the Terraclean service, which for about £125 is well worth the money. I usually use Shell V Power and normally get around 28 mpg driving in the city and short journeys, but I do get in the high forties on long journeys, and I had 50.3 mpg driving from here to Sheffield. Regards, Peter.
  15. Hi Chris, It could be the battery being low. The s type does like a good battery. Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Martyn, A main dealer should be able to sort the problem out but expensively. An auto locksmith -- there are quite a few around -- and some are mobile would be the best bet. They can usually do the reprogramming if necessary. Peter.
  17. Hi Alan, If you take your VIN number to a Jaguar Dealer you will be able to get the spec of your car when it left the factory. There is a member in Lancashire [The Voices] who works for a Jaguar Dealer who will help if possible. Jaguar Voice was not specified for my S type for which I was rather thankful, as I have heard bad reports about it. Peter.
  18. Welcome to the club, Les. Your expertise will be valued, as the club thrives on exchanges of information. Regards, Peter.
  19. Hi Dave, and welcome to the club. I have heard about the hidden menu, and once saw a Video on how to access it. I think it was on You tube. I was not tempted to try getting into it, as, like Andy, I thought it was hidden for a reason. My thinking has always been that when you go into something/somewhere you should always know the way to get out before you go in. A dealer is the way you will have to go. Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Keith, and Welcome to the club. If you want to embellish your car have a look at the Adamesh website. You have not put any photographs up [yet] so it is hard to say what you need. My son has just bought a similar Jaguar on an 06 plate, with the 2.0 litre diesel engine, and finds it great, too. Regards, Peter.
  21. Welcome to the Club, William. I have had to jiggle a fuse several times too. It is always worth trying the simplest and cheapest solution first. I think that doing this you have probably got a better connection. Regards, Peter.
  22. Hi Paul and Tom, Good to see problems getting sorted out. My s type 2.7D has two EGR valves and I sometimes get the engine warning light on and my OBD2 scanner tells me that it is Code P0402, which means roughly that the EGR valves are closed and not opening. Sometimes a good blast on the A38 cures it and if not a can of Wynns Diesel EGR cleaner does the job. I am going to Burton-on-Trent today and the 20 miles journey will have the S Button on all the time to ensure the revs are over 2,000, and the DPF should be fully regenerated when I get back home. Peter.
  23. Hi Trevor, and welcome to the club. I have also used Castrol Magnatec, which is guaranteed for 20k miles, even though my engine oil is changed at much less than that. I do know that Esso and Mobil have oils that conform to Jaguar's requirement. A good filling station should have their own propriety brand in stock that conforms also. Regards, Peter.
  24. Many younger people do think that Jaguars are the province of older people, and seem to forget that over the years younger people seemed to be more envious of E Type and S Type Mk2 drivers rather than looking to buy one themselves. Despite what younger people think, the Jaguar car is not as expensive to run as some other cars popular with younger people. Parts can be obtained through other sources than Jaguar Main dealers and servicing and diagnostic charges can be done by good mechanics with lower overheads, and consequently lower labour charges. When I bought my S type with only 48k on the clock and with a lot of bells and whistles, a Ford Mondoe with the same mileage was £2,000 dearer, and a "Hot Hatchback" was not only more expensive but also significantly slower. Experientia Docet! Peter.
  25. Hi Paul, That's Good! I will make a note of those when I text my children [and grandchildren]. Some of those will go well when I sometimes put letters after my name --- MMSDT --- Member of the Malt Shovel Darts Team. Peter.
